thank you for finding this instrumental gem of the sixties bringing me back to a time of innocence and naivety. Thank you for taking the time to tell a bit of history about the author/composer. That helps to "situate" the context and era in which this melody was created in. It also enables the younger generations to be exposed to a culture (the "beautiful music" radio of the sixties) long gone. America was pure and innocent then (at least on the outside). Peace be with you,
@lancelot1953 Yes,indeed. The early '60s brought us beautiful, haunting songs and instrumentals, reflecting innocent times before JFK was assasinated and the Vietnam War divided us.I love listening to the music of this time period even though I was born in '61
OMGG!!!! i HAD TOTALLY FORGOTTEN ABOUT THIS SONG!! I REMEMBER BEING A LITTLE GIRL - DANCING TO THIS SONG WITH MY DADDY (MY FEET ON HIS:=) IN OUR LIVING ROOM! WHAT A SWEET MEMORY:=) BEAUTIFUL SONG!
Nothing warms me more on the coldest winter day than to hear this. The memories that it re-kindles are worth more than a ton of gold. When I heard for the first time I loved a very special person. Forty-eight years later, the feelings remain.
Along with "Walk Away" possibly the most beautiful music ever recorded, brings me back to when i first heard it in 1968 after I walked my first love home from high school and it started snowing. I can still see her white furry hat, coat, mittens and sparkling green eyes whenever I hear this masterpiece, she was the most beautiful girl in the whole school and I never got over her.
This music makes me think of that young beautiful and so sad girl that I met many many years ago for just one day.I made a date with her and took her out and she cried out her heart to me, how so many guys just wanted to use her and how she was looking for that genuine guy. I could see she wanted me but I wasn't looking for such commitment. I put her on the train and never saw her again. The love she offered was so real but I could not at that time see it. I don't even remember her name.Life....
Excellent piece of work!! Thank you very much for Sharing!!!!!
What a way of meeting people and get to see their talent. At first was reluctant being on youtube, but getting to do this has brought me into the houses of some very special people. You are one of them. Life; isn't it wonderful!!! Keep up the good work. Hope You Are Having A Splendid Day!!!!
Beautiful. Today I am resetting my mind with beautiful music from great instrumentals. Our Winter Love, Soul Coaxing by Ray Lefevre, Theme from A Summer Place by Mancini. True soul food.
I love this song.Talk about memories. They played this song at the intermissions at the state theater in the early 60's. I would give anything to go back to that time.
@thegmantube Yes it certainly is beautiful it makes my soul leap and my eyes weep us humans are crazy somtimes but listening to this makes me think we have a chance.
My heart to you, I brought this melody as part of recordings from the sixties while I was in the Gulf War to remind me of a time I was innocent - missed Vietnam by one year but got the three next wars. I hope that you are doing well and that both of you are happy, you deserve it.
Bill Purcell is the former mayor of Nashville. Bill Pursell teaches at Belmont University in Nashville and recorded this song. He has a channel on youtube: pursellwilliam. His name is spelled Pursell in his bio on the Belmont University web site. I am sure the original spelling of Pursell was correct.
Hy Lit, on WIBG in Philly, used to use this as a song that he talked over. When we were teenagers, we laughed, we cried, and this got us through our first loves andour first heartaches. Hyski will live forever in our hearts - he may be gone, but never forgotten. He helped me grow up.
Actually, this was not conceived as a Christmas or holiday song and did not enter the chart until late January of 1963. It works beautifully, however, with other winter themes.
Thanks, Boswell, for posting the correct version. Pursell apparently re-recorded it. Good, but not quite right.
I can't THANK you enough for posting this beautiful song for us to enjoy! You've made my day & my weekend. It's such a lovely tune...I never get tired of hearing it. Always makes my heart soar! Thanks again & here's hoping that you & yours have your HAPPIEST holiday season ever! :)
I first heard this in 1999 during the Christmas Music Special on WJOI and it has a Special Christmas Magic all its own. Imagine being with Someone You Love as this plays. WONDERFUL TUNE!!!!
Believe it or not, I bought this album just for that one song. I would play it over and over again. Of course, I wore out the album. I should have bought two, but I was only 12 yrs. old.

We were in a deliciously innocent, though too short-lived time then. Pre- Kennedy assassination, pre-Vietnam, pre- everything-going-to-hell.......
The likes of which, I fear we will never see again, more's the pity.
