  • that picture must be from new zealand.

  • Physical Graffiti is far the best Led album, i became stunned the first time i heard this song right after "In the Light" last riff.

  • that picture you use in the video is beautiful... did you take it yourself? If so, where was it taken?

  • Nothing against The Stomp but I was so happy to find this :D

  • Been to Bron Yr Aur... Beyond ethereal.

  • @beatlemaniac1966 How is it???????????????

  • @TheNiko005 It was incredible, you go up into the mountains where there's sheep roaming freely, till you reach this little cottage that has so much visual power. Luckily, the man who owns it now was not home, so i took out my guitar and played Bron Yr Aur AT Bron Yr Aur (perhaps the greatest experience of my life). Looking out into the beautiful valley scenery, knowing i was in the same place Zep had been,it was life-changing. The driver also took us to Robert Plant's home in the Artist Valley.

  • @beatlemaniac1966 wow that is incredible!!!! i hope someday i'll go there too! as you said, the magic of the place must be life-changing indeed.

  • Thank you for finding this, for posting this. I am all enthralled!! :) The picture is breathtaking as well!

  • Where did you find this? any other chestnuts to be found with it?

  • Thank you so much for this. You're totally my favorite person in the world right now.

  • I'd like to see video of Page playing this.

  • I know it's a short little song and it's just Jimmy Page, but this is one of my 10 favorite Led Zeppelin songs

  • Can someone write what Robert Plant says before the song? Sorry, I'm not english and I can't hear everything he says... Thanks!

  • @surion56

"This is so because its position every morning when the sun rises, and, its really a remarkable place. so ive been staying there for a while, ive decided it was time to leave for various reasons, we couldnt really just leave it and forget about it. you've probably all been to a place like that. I mean we can tell you about it and you cant tell us..*inaudible*..Jimmy Page"

At least thats what i think he said. Idk if he said "can tell us" or "canT tell us" at the very end.

  • @TropianTV Thank you!! =) I thinks he says can, is more coherent , isn't it?

  • I went to the place recently. Walked for hours around with the song (and a few other acoustic zep tunes) in my earphones. Geeky, nerdy and magical. :)

  • WHY OH WHY didn't they play it live more often?? it' sooo beautiful!

  • A beautiful song for now and forever that transcends time and creates hope, peace, and tranquility. A reminder that beauty can be found in songs and remind us of how God has blessed us with talents of musicians like Jimmy Page

  • Too bad there's no video.

  • where is this picture taken? i love it

  • @thenobs123 maybe at Snowdonia, the place where is Bron-Yr-Aur

  • I knew this girl, she meant a lot to me. She told me one night she was in love with this song...so I went and learned it. Damn her for picking such a good song for me to learn, 'cause whenever I listen to it now I think of her. We broke shortly after I finished learning it. It's good to know that there's actually some pieces of music that will stay in your heart no matter what you go through. This is one of those pieces.

  • @RockNRolWillNeverDie You're right men... some pieces are never forgotten

  • that picture if fucking amazing

  • When i listen to Zep im always humbled, these guys were masters of the art in every way..they were kings in there time

  • the best part about this is the variation between the live version versus the album. on top of that the added variation is awesome. the harmonics are the best

  • this is the most amazing thing i have ever heard.

  • jimmy pages best work

  • it says 1970 in the description but physical graffiti came out in 75

  • @corpralkirsch Much of the material on PG was recorded during the sessions for other albums.

  • @corpralkirsch they played it live in 1970 as a preview for III, but it didnt end up on the final album

  • Beautiful. I've been trying to find a live version of this song for quite a bit.

  • I'm so lucky to live where I live .....in the FUCKING COUNTRYSIDE!!

  • Playing this song transports me to another place. I start almost every day by playing it and I sometimes can't believe such a beautiful piece of music is coming out of my guitar, Peace

  • Thank you so much. I've been looking for a live version of this for a while.

  • its not like the stomp is a bad song, but its annoying wen u see bron yr aur and then it sais stomp.

  • Dislike?

    IMPOSSIBRU!

  • where was the picture taken? i want to go there.

  • @thenobs123 It's a close-up of the profile of my ass. Beautiful ain't it?

  • Thumbs up before i even listen

  • Getting high and listening to this is the most beautiful thing in the world.

  • this is absolutely fucking brilliant

  • vale do capao, brazil. bahia. chapada diamantina. or just home...

  • One of the beautiful song of Page

  • My puppy, who has been bothering me for the past 5 hours, listened to this song, calmed down, and is now sleeping.

  • LOVE this, but as a side note: Physical Graffiti was released in '75.

  • This song is a prime example of what set Led Zeppelin apart from every other rock band... Really put them on a completely different level!

  • a good way to tell the difference between this and "stomp"... the dumb blokes that made the album jacket made a type on "stomp" it reads bron-y-aur stomp... and this one is the right way... bron-yr-aur.... that's how i tell them apart anyway. :D

  • Great! I just got gooseflesh listening to this! did not know yet it was performed live at all!

  • even better than the studio version

  • this song should have been performed live (sobs)

  • Thanks for sharing it. One of my favorite LZ songs. Jimmy was always my guitar hero.

  • This is absolutely exquisite. The harmonics he throws in are amazing. Gave me goosbumps! Thanks for posting.

  • does anyone know the tabs to this version of bron yr aur??...i want to learn it soo bad!!

  • Very possibly my favorite Zep song of all times. I don't know why, but I love this.

  • Thank you....someone who knows that there is a difference between this song and "Stomp".

  • @ratherbdrunk Haha, I always used to get super annoyed when I thought I found a version of this live and then ended up on Stomp. Argh the frustration haha. Thats why when I found this I made sure everybody trying to find it found what they were looking for :)

  • thank you

  • @ratherbdrunk I've been at the point of punching people in the face over it at times.

I've had that problem with Bonzo's Montreaux and Moby Dick as well for some reason.

  • Beautiful

  • FANTASTIC JIMMY

  • 2:05 fuck you dont disturb Jimmy while he plays!

  • Look, pals: I was not knocking Page. This I made two points, the first being that this tune reflects the influence of American primitive guitar and the second that I did not recognize a particularly Welsh quality to the melody. Btw, Roy Harper was more a collaborator than an influence on Page's guitar playing. Davey Graham, Martin Carthy, and Bert Jansch were the primary British guitarists who influenced Page's picking.

jcfx13, I am not Welsh nor am I a container of headcheese.

  • ultra-super-master awesome

  • thats the worst performance i listen from this song

  • Lovely!

  • This performance is from September 4, 1970, at the Los Angeles Forum. This show has been heavily bootleged because a few different people made good recordings of it and because it contains some rarities, including Out on The Tiles, Blueberry Hill, a killer Communication Breakdown medley (featuring For What it's Worth, I saw Her Standing There, and Good Times Bad Times!), and this song.

  • and on the set jimmy struggles to tune the guita,r it isnt on this recording, plant has to stall the crowd with inane carrying on

  • this is off the blueberry hill 2 disk.. it also has a great version of out on the tiles on #1 and of course chubby checkers blueberry hill.. great bootleg set

  • oh my fucking god, this is paradice right there, although im an atheist. those harmonics sound so beautiful it hurts

  • Sir James Patrick Page is the greatest guitarist.

  • Page is God no questions about it=)

  • this song is one tsrmts movie

  • This song,I cant describe how I feel when I hear it.The wind blowing through the leaves,a love lost or maybe found.I smile and cry at the same time. Its beauty is overwhelming.Truly a classic.Thank you for posting.

  • @theosu66 You sum this up beautifully.

  • Is this played with a plectrum or with his fingers?

  • @naccienac I think Jimmy played it with his fingers.

  • @naccienac he's using thumb pick, nothing on his other fingers

  • @livezeppelin Ok, thank you. Beautiful song

  • @naccienac fingers.

  • @Marjan2803 Somebody else already told me he used a thumb pick and nothing on his fingers.

  • this is music. not the fake computerized shit that gets all the airtime. this is timeless.

  • I think there are 4 types of musical pieces.

    1. You hear it and it is aweful. You cannot stand it.

2.You hear it and it grows on you. You begin to like it but would not go out of your way for it.

    3. You hear it, you love it, it's magical for a while then its magic starts to diminish in a few weeks or months.

    4. You hear it. Your whole life passes. It never gets boring. Its enchantment grows incrementally on every listen. It moves you to tears.

Have been listening to ByrA now for 30 years.

  • @paghob 5. You hear it, and then have explosive watery diarrhea.

  • Comment removed

  • It's as if the Welsh Mountains had been waiting quietly for millions and millions of years for the birth of the great musical intellect of one Jimmy Page to finally ring out their song which they had patiently kept hidden within their belly for so long.

Bron- y-aur; forged from the rock of the Welsh Mountains!!!!

(Yes I know I've said this before. I just wanted to reiterate my point.)

  • I've listen to this song 100's of times and every time it leaves me totally stunned. I just hate having to push the replay button. A loop feature is required!

  • I love the part with the harmonics that he adds, does anyone know if there's a tab for it, ive tried to figure it by ear but its really hard, ive got close but i'd love to be able to do it properly...

  • @TomoSully Listen to my version...I figured it out pretty good I think...

  • I think I like that one even more than the "classic" ones like stairway or kashmir...this is sooo beautiful, it really lets you feel the magic of the place

    big cheer, Jimmy =)

  • I have no idea how he pulls off those harmonics. That just sounds brilliant. This is my favorite zep song

  • who can write and play like this just one man the master you know who that is jimmy he use's a lot of open tuning the rain song is D G C G C D just the sound try and play a D chored sounds like shit play the right chored's sounds like the most wonderful sound i'm getting deep must be the northern light's and i'm in oklahoma know what i mean

  • @SqueezeMyLemonBabe it´s DGDGBD

  • yeah this isnt that rare..it is but it isnt....you can easily get this from a torrent site. i have it haha :D

  • Is that live or the studio version?

  • I ve listened to alot of people play this on the utubie but no one can play like Jimmy. He is definately the guitar KING!!!

  • One word: Agreed!!!

  • @tomcardello is their any i could get a copy

  • This was originally from the bootleg "Live on Blueberry Hill" around early Sept. 1970 if memory serves. It's likely been copied and released numerous times on other bootlegs, I've got this one in my collection and it's a great listen every now and then.

  • his guitar isnt out of tune. this was definitely recorded on tape [reel to reel maybe] and the tape is worn out, thats why it sounds out of tune and why it sounds all wobbly

  • OOOHHH, NO WORDS

  • @tomcardello is there any way i could find the tabs?

  • The 1970 American tour was the only time Zeppelin played Bron Yr Aur live...A shame, since it's so pretty.

Another neat factoid: This show and the last show of the 1970 American tour (the evening performance at Madison Square Garden) were the only times they played Out On The Tiles in full live.

  • UNA GRAN ROLA HIJOS DE PUTA!!!

  • heh his guitar is barely out of tune. amazing song tho

  • I have this boot, it was recorded in L.A. in 1970 on Bonham's birthday. The company was called TMQ (Trade Mark of Quality), who marked their bootlegs with a small pig stickers they would steal from grocery store meat lockers.

  • Great track! BTW, the original studio track is from 1975, not 1970. Great and rare track, nonetheless.

  • The song was initially written and recorded in 1970 by Jimmy Page during the sessions for the album, Led Zeppelin III, but was eventually released in 1975 on Physical Graffiti.

  • it was released in 1975. jimmy originally wrote it in 1970, possibly even 1969.

  • it''s in the key of c4

  • @bronzcory its C6 man

  • @bronzcory c6 guitar noob, get your azz off fawking cod okay?

  • Ok you guys stop arguing over the tuning, yes Jimmy played it in Open C tuning or C6 I forget but you can play it it Standard w/o the low C, so I mean you are playing most of the same notes in standard or C stop arguing

  • This is why Led Zeppelin basically reached the top of rock mastery. I actually consider them more progressive than hard rock or heavy metal, they undoubtedly changed the landscape of music.

  • the tuning is rare c a c g c e...but changing the tuning is worth it because its a beutiful song to play

  • it is, my two guitars are tuned to Standard and C A C G C E

i know a few other song in open C tuning all i have to do is just tune the A string down one step

  • Poor Tom was also played in this tuning.

  • Page employs some very nice natural harmonics and cool bell like tones not heard on the studio version of this song.

He should have included meditative ambient acoustic guitar instrumental tracks such as this on every Zeppelin album.

  • Can someone PLEASE tell me where I can get these bootlegs!

  • I got it from a torrent site. So just find one you like and make a search.

  • i am drunk, and didn't bother pressing pause because i felt it would tear the fabric of the songs beauty, when i realized i had to pee. so i went to the next room over (bathroom) and made sure to piss on the side of the bowl so as not to make much splash noise at all, so i could still hear this from the next room over. i've always loved this song. apparently not as much as run though lol.

  • @iheartdonut lol

  • Funny ass shit bro....

  • @iheartdonut i understand iam a little bit late, but i just wanted to say: Great comment!

  • @iheartdonut

    best comment ever.

  • that made me laugh!!!!!

    what a legend u r

  • Just like Jimmy & Roy Harper's song.

  • dude this is in open C6

  • one more thing this is also in standard tuning!!!!! maybe the low-e's tuned down to D but the rest stays the same thats pretty cool isnt it? Weird how it sounds so different but yet its so simple. Jusst beautiful, or simply beautiful is a better term for it.

  • wow the tuning is c a c g c e

  • The great thing is most of the songs you think were from Bron y aur or bring bron y aur to mind were actually not from there.....

Thats the way was not because it is very early it was on the bbc sessions so therefore very early before they went to Bron y aur some other stuff too but I g2g cya'll later

  • Yes, this piece is beautiful in fact one of

Zeppelin's finest. And it was just added in

the CD version as a bonus track, back in

the early 90's.Correct me if i'm wrong.

  • live on blueberry hill? i want that boot leg ;( :P

  • my all time accoustic favorite even over some of Jormas stuff

  • this is my favorite guitar piece so sweet and it has such a mystical feel to it, absolutely amazing

  • amen bro, i feel the same, jus beautiful

  • Great job coming across this video, and thank you so much for posting. Though, i think a better background picture would be a picture of the very cottage that inspired Page, but it is still great.

  • we named our daughter after this- aur it means gold in Welsh

  • @seivad9 To be more specific, "Golden Breast" if what I recall what I read that Robert said correctly.

  • If this song were food, it would be cake, The perfect cake that isn't too sweet, and this cake would have all the nutrients you needed for the day and had 0 calories and was just the most amazing food ever.

  • I like the way you think!

  • Hahah awesome take on it.

  • i love that distorted sound of bootlegs. its just so cool to me. i almost feel like i'm in the past, back seeing that in 1970. i was born in 1992, so it's quite the feeling, you know?!

there's something quite special about acoustic performances, and this one is by all means my all time favourite acoustic tune. still reminds me of the girl i love every time i listen to it, and i discovered it probably a year ago, maybe more. that's just beginning to explain!

  • Whilst reading my daily Welsh newspaper The Western Mail (a south wales publication) in the property press every Friday a profile of the most popular and expensive areas to live in Wales came up.

A local Ceredigion resident was almost knocked over by a chap in a Rolls Royce Corniche.

It was none other than Led Zeppelins Robert Plant who is supposed to have a property in the beautiful resort of Aberdovey not far from Barmouth.

Only the likes of him can now afford property there.

  • men i love led!~!

  • Physical Graffiti was released in 1975, not 1970. This recording is probably from 1977.

As nice as this tune is, Page is heavily in the debt of American stylists such as John Fahey, Robbie Basho, and Leo Kottke. The piece does not sound particularly Welsh; the word "Welsh," btw, is an English slur on the Cymry. Cymru has had plenty of bardd to celebrate her greatness for thousands of years, so Page is not the first nor shall he be the last. You can find plenty each year at the Eistedfodd.

  • Although the album was released in 1975 the song was originally written and recorded in 1970, it was played live a few times live but not after 1971 or so i'm told. Good shout on John Fahey though.

  • This recording is from Los Angeles, September 4, 1970. Bron-yr-aur was played by Jimmy on this Summer American tour only.

  • This is from 1970. Jimmy Page wrote this song while they were writing th emusic for Zeppelin III.

  • but this song came out on physical graffiti

  • He wrote the song in 1970 though. It just wasn't released until 1975. I think possibly the reason for that was because if they had put it on Zep 3 Jimmy probably thought it may have been repetitive having so many bron-yr-aur related songs, and putting it on houses of the holy wouldn't fit with the other songs vibes. Physical Grafitti was the perfect album to release this song on as it was like a giant album of variety.

  • @SqueezeMyLemonBabe it was mainly because led zep 3 had enough on it and then they needed to pad out physical graffitti, being a double album and all =P lol

  • "SqueezeMyLemonBabe" is right. Physical Graffiti was Zeps only double album and about half the music was already recorded during sessions in '70, '71 and '72 and the other half was new stuff. This was one of the songs recorded in '70

  • @llawfhionn its not meant to sound " welsh" whatever that is - it sounds like a cross between english folk using an american picking style he was heavily influenced by roy harper anyway who was english...the only thing welsh about led zeppelin were the locations where they wrote some tunes and where robert plant once lived...

  • @llawfhionn

Jog on you miserable smegpot. Who said the song is supposed to sound Welsh? It's a piece of music he wrote about a cottage in Wales. Keep your nationalism out of beautiful songs like this, and for the record, this recording was made in 1970, at the los angeles forum.

  • I think this is from one of the L.A Forum shows. I used to have so many Zeppelin bootlegs - on Vinyl and 8-Track!

Beautiful tune - with some unfortunate dialogue posted - behave boys!

  • Beautiful. Thank you!

  • It's as if the Welsh Mountains had been waiting quietly for millions and millions of years for the birth of the great musical intellect of one Jimmy Page to finally ring out their song which they had kept patiently hidden within them for so long.

Bron- y-aur; forged from the rock of the Welsh Mountains!!!!

  • Well said sir. or madame..

  • this is wonderful; thanks for posting!

  • Golden hill

  • such a beautiful song

  • thank you for posting this!

  • Simply gorgeous. That's one of the things I love so much about Zep's acoustic work: it puts the listener in mind of the deep forests & green rolling fields, and the tales of yore.

The perfect contrast to their thunderous power.

  • this is definitely jimmy page at his best acoustic work.

  • wow, there are parts in the middle that are completely different from the released studio version!

  • This reminds me of traveling in Wales. It's a breathtakingly beautiful country, and this is a stunningly gorgeous song. They go together well. :)

  • Mo too! This just reminds me of my trip to England and even more so to Wales! Simply beautiful!

  • that picture is in South Wales

  • Perfection

  • my favorite acustuc song

    in two words

    fucking-amazing!!!!!!!!

    long life led zeppelin

  • your spelling is terrible

  • this is my favorite acustuc song too :)

  • Words fail me, 2mins of perfection. Thanks for posting !

  • not live huh? haha! still good but not the song i was looking for.. anyone know a similar zeppelin song acoustic and played in what i think might be open G with lots of harmonics???? been wanting to learn it and play it for my mamma haha!
