  • I've never heard or seen this instument until this very moment. You play wonderfully!!!! This is one of my fav. Christmas songs. Thanks for posting it.

  • Holy crap!

  • I've never seen a "guitar" like this. What is it called? Your music is outstanding! Such heart and soul!!!!

  • Mr. Miner,

Breathtaking. Thanks so much for posting.

I've been a fan of yours for years, and always enjoy your "world music" holiday selections--the Andean "I Wonder as I Wander;" the Asian "O Come, O Come Emmanuel;" the Indian "Litte Drummer Boy;" and the Middle Eastern "We Three Kings." I'm sure others would find them as much a treat as I have if you could post them someday (and given your musical multitasking on those pieces, the visual could be a simple winter scene). Take care,

  • Love it! Very beautiful!

  • Nice Glasses!

  • It's a Harp Guitar. There are other examples here on YouTube.

  • What the heck is that thing?!

  • This sound comes from Heaven. Beautiful..... elegant and soulful.

  • This is really good!

  • Absolutely beautiful! Kudos to the arranger and player both!

  • Bravura performance, Maestro!

  • it is always nice to hear the sounds of old

  • Don't know why I've never seen this...BEAUTIFUL arrangement!! Look forward to meeting you in 2 weeks! ;-)

  • love it.

  • A stunning performance of this, one of the most beautiful of all Christmas compositions. Gregg, you have turned in a performance that will live forever. A masterpiece of Harp Guitar arrangement.

  • That dyer's tone is amazing, its almost like a harpsichord. I read an interview with him in a guitar mag and he said that particular harp guitar has the greatest tone of any acoustic guitar he has ever played.

  • i wish i could play like that.....

  • Watching this on Easter Monday '09, and I can only say: This is a beautiful song and rendition all year through. Absolutely stunning ... thanks for sharing :-)!

  • Simply and incredibly beautiful...

  • ABSOLUTELY HEAVENLY, and I mean that. Almost took all my sadness away this holiday season, Gregg. THANK YOU so much, and I really mean that. Lost my mother-in-law, last uncle & my late mom's last sister this year, so it's a tough one. Truly exquisitely beautiful, and never more needed than at this Horrible financial & social time. I've always adored the guitar, and yours is the Bentley (never mind Cadillac) of guitars...Don't EVER stop playing & posting, please. THANKS again!

  • that is amazing...this is my favorite Christmas Carol ever (i love the version in Spanish)... wow, i am in awe!!!

  • i love this song im learning it on piano and its beatiful

  • i love it;

    we have to sing it in chorus, and the french part is stuck in my head;

    Un flambeau, Jeanette, Isabelle --

    Un flambeau! Courons au berceau!

    it meansa torch J-I

    a torch to bethlehem come

    french can be tricky

  • awesome

  • harp guitar ftw.

  • that was great very beautiful

  • Gregg, Amazing technique with thumb and finger picks no less. I have always loved this arrangement of yours. I'm sending you a video response of one of mine. I hope you enjoy it. Music is the Best!

    -Sean

  • Thanks Sean - I am of course "dubbing" to playback and thus "playing" a bit more flamboyantly than normal - but at that time, I did use fingerpicks (the playback is from my recorded CD). Now I use acrylics and a Delrin-tip thumbpick. I play this down in G now - come to the Gathering in October and I'll show you!

And thanks everyone else for your kind comments (and don't forget I've still got 5000 CD sets in my garage....)!

    Gregg Miner

  • Absolutely breathtaking. I have never heard or seen anything like this and I am stunned. Thank you.

  • Simply the most sensitive and stirring rendition of this classic ever.

  • Very, very nice. 5*****

  • Very nicely done! What is this instrument? Does it have a special name? I assume the top strings are for bass, correct? I have never seen anything like it. I enjoyed this very much; the song was played with great feeling and the guitar is VERY cool!

  • That is a beautiful rendition of the song I was named after.

  • I am playing this in band

    amazing

  • Beautiful song to begin with and a soothing method of instrument. Thanks for sharing this.

  • A true perfectionist with soul!

  • wow. that was really nice...

  • Awesome. I love the way that Dyer sounds. Lots of sweet overtones. Makes me wish I had one.
