  • basically, you showed how to combine scales and arpeggios....by saying we needed to just combine the scales and arpeggios..

  • Nice Diezels! I play through the VH4 haha! :)

  • This video is related to his website, which is actually really informative on ways to improve technique and learn scales. I don't think he's trying to show off, he's just teaching a concept that you have to learn to use for yourself. He's not going to walk you through it. His website in general is for more advanced players looking to vary and improve their playing styles, so please don't knock him for showing a concept that you may not understand or may be above your level. Refer to his site.

  • The only thing that sounded good to me was the G chord at the end. I already know that chord.

  • I love these guys that are more interested in saying LOOK AT ME!!! LOOK AT ME!!!

than anything about the guitar!!!! or playing the guitar!

  • thats some awsome reverb and delay.

  • useless ....

  • To me, the only chords that are acceptable as a scale are the (root)1,3,5,7 chords, with or w/out the 8 (same note but higher as root)

Do you know what I'm talking about?

    (the notes w/in one octave)

Because alot scales I know are usually around 5-8 notes in one octave.

(I'm not talking about the guy in the video he's pretty good)

  • I like how you keep your notes clean, are you muting unused strings? Just curious

  • BB King showed everybody how to take limited notes and sound like they were musical and do that with conviction.

  • scales are arpeggios and arpeggios are scales. play a scale in thirds. its arpeggios. play apreggios diatonically upwards. combined, you get a scale. so what?

  • @Chisuz arent arpeggios broken chords? not really scales?

  • @acolytes777 its all the same, you know. mystically, a major scale contains all modal root (7th) arpeggios, and by substitution you can add all diatonic extensions to the root chord... unless you need to go "outside" for some tension in the dominants, you can pretty much get all you want from one scale only...

  • 1:49 was cut.. more to accuracy and speed. (Paul Gilbert.).

  • haha i played the lower g major sweep at the same time he played the higher sweep so we harmonized :D

  • great taste, koch are the best amp;)

  • Not enough gain or reverb. A lot more is needed.

  • @strunzgracie agreed. he needs a lot more reverb and gain to cover up the sloppiness.

  • Love this kind of stuff!

Im always looking for ideas to spice up my solo"s!!

  • ouch. i know you think its cool to use a diezel with high gain but not for a lesson...could hardly hear how robotic you are.

  • @allsport1313 he's very stiff isn't he?

  • Great playing! What pickups are on your Suhr Modern?

  • Excellent!!!!!

  • How did you record this video???? It's very sharp and clear, and the voice is great (not really on the topic but I'm trying to make a video these days)

  • I used a Canon HD video recorder but recorded the audio separately with a good mic. THe only way to get good audio quality is to record it separately, though that does require some skills at audio/video editing.

  • Thanks a lot, it's a useful piece of advice to record audio and video separately :)

  • What I was going after here was not so much the teaching of a broad idea but of one very specific concept, which is simply the combining of scalar and arpeggiated lines, hence the tab showing such lines. I appreciate the feedback nonetheless.

  • And then you can put it all together and have this:

    *insane guitar solo*

    Crappy teaching man

  • congrats, you showed off and taught nothing. : /

  • @PUREVOSEX agreed hate when people do that , hey in this lesson im going to show u how i can play scales and arpeggios and you will have no clue how i did them

  • thanks for the help. i learned a new scale and mixed all my scales tgether modified them and made an awesome solo :)

  • this is a good video-cld u cover more on this-coz its the basis of creating solos and phrasing-a lot of guitarists are stuck here-combining scales, modes & arpeggios, techniques and other elements that make up music and great solos
