i found the film negative, repetative and inane. She complains about the role of women in society while bringing her son up to become that which she despises in men.
@EdgeStormcrow you've missed the point entirely if you can't see that the son's views on his mother's divorce reflect society's as a whole. The moment she sought a divorce, she became a bad mother. His pattern of talking over his mother, interrupting her, contradicting her, are universal signs of the controlling, dominant male behavior she escaped from in her own marriage. The film's point is that as long as that behavior is the norm in a patriarchal society, a woman can only escape so far.

@bookshop Sort of.. The actors are improvising, theres no script. The theme you speak about is only tangentially dealt with in the film. Most likely the theme appeared by virtue of the fact that Kiarostami chose a divorcee as his main 'actor'. The film was initially meant to be about a psychiatrist.
i saw this film yesterday on a brazillian channel ,i simple loved it ,and before ,i thought that's real life ,'cause these actor are so much good ,congratulations Iran for make this film !
Unfortunately, It's so true ... I'd like to thanks Mr. Kia Rostami for making the movie, and all the actresses played in the movie, I understand that most of the women in Iran and in these kind of situations don't like others figure out about their problems.
It was A REAL film...the reality of the society...it shows how people think, believe, feel, act and react...I really LOVED it...Thanks for uploading this powerfull film...Thanks for all those who made it and the director "kiarostami" .... seems that he has experiece of being not a woman but so many different ones!
