@giroftheyear1234 Are you using room temperature filtered water? Also keep in mind that not all polish works - the brand doesn't really matter but every color is different in the water & it just takes a lot of trial & error to find the ones that work well. You want one with good pigmentation, maybe a little on the thick side but thin enough to drip & above all slow-drying. HTH =)
@Vurbina19 I always use room temperature filtered water from a Brita pitcher - most tap water is too hard & the polish will not spread as well. Bottled is also usually OK as long as there are no additives. You can check out my water comparison under the Tips & Tricks playlist in the information box to see the difference =)

orange stick?? thats funny.. in germany we call them with the german word for rosewood-stick "rosenholz-staebchen" so I always thought back in the days they were made of rosewood
@simplelittlepleasures ok well I hav tried and tried water marbling and it won't work! What should I do? Should I just not do it or does it count on the brand? I just need to no. Thank u so much -BowChickaWowWow345 =)

@TaylorSwiftGal276 I think it sounds like you are using a little too much polish - try using a few less drops. The layer in the water should be very thin =)
i can't quite find my previous comment but just wanted to let you know that i got the marbling right after trying to drag on the surface better :) a light touch does it! thanks again for your patience and teaching newbies to nailart such as myself haha :D loving it! :D
When I dip my nail and then i take it out, the design stays but some drops of water stays on my nail too, and when my nails dry they don't look perfect cause the drops ruin the polish :( what can i do?
@barliny24 My 3 main tips to prevent bubbles would be: make sure there are none in the polish before you dip you nail (you can pop those), dip in & out slowly, and make sure to get rid of any water drops on your nail - if they won't drip off, you can use the corner of a paper towel to absorb them. HTH =)
@SimpleLittlePleasues Thank you so much for answering me! I got it so much clear now and I'm definitely gonna do all of your tips nex time I do a water marble, I hope it works :)
Thank you again for answering, you are so great! and my number one guru of nails, thanks!
@dietriterocks I agree, I knew what an orange stick was before this but most people call it a cuticle stick (like me) so it's a completely reasonable question in my opinion.
it's a stick made from orange wood thats primarily used for nail art. really? people needed to inquire about the obvious? wow, people are so naive, ignorant and way to dependent these days!! :O
I'm in school to become a nail technician and we did cover what an orange wood stick was. It is made from the wood from orange trees. The citrus acid in the wood makes them very sanitary to use.
Do you clean your orange stick with acetone after you complete your watermarbling? Does the acetone or polish remover damage the stick and/or leaves residues in the water if you use them again?
I couldn't find any orange sticks because I was looking for something that said orange sticks...lol! Duh to me huh? I use toothpicks to draw out the design and a chopstick to clean up the excess polish. The word for today is improvise :)
When I first saw your videos, I didn't know what an orange stick was, but it's pretty easy to figure out. I use a bbq skewer. Hope you don't see this as spam because I did reference you as the water marble master but I have a video on this account showing marbling with a skewer on short nails.
i can never do water marbling, i get the water and make a nice bull's eye but then when i dip my nail in and take it out, the nailpolish slides off and it becomes a gooey mess , do you think its the nail polish im using or am i doing something wrong?
@suhsylya I think it sounds like you are using a little too much polish - try using a few less drops. The layer in the water should be very thin & shouldn't have a problem sticking to your nail as long as you are using a base color =)
@shaynatrue for a dotting tool you can substitute like an unbent paper clip or a pencil, depending on what size you are going for - Sallys is a beauty supply store & you can check their locator on their website to see if there are any near you =)
I had never heard of an orange stick before I started watching your videos.. But I think it's because I'm Swedeish and we obviously don't speak english, haha. I always seem to learn something from you, and then when my friends ask me a question I sound really smart.. or at least know what I'm talking about :)

Orange sticks were once made out of orangewood are now made out of birch. They may be hard for someone who has never heard of them to find because the industry no longer refers to them as orange sticks- usually they are now called cuticle pushers and I have talked to the managers of beauty departments who don't know what they are ...
lol, thats kinda cool actually.... i never heard of an orange stick before you :) maybe i should try drawing on the surface more to get my marbles better.. i tend to use a sateh stick... like the long ones for bbq-ing?.... i think maybe my issue is dipping in too deep when drawing the design in the polish... i thought the orange stick hadsome magic to it.. sigh... shame the dream stops here LOL
@GreenEnvyDesigns dipping too deep may be part of the problem - you want to use a very light touch, just barely to the polish & drag on the surface =)
What's a toothpick and where can I buy one???????????? j/k I can't believe so many people asked you about orange sticks... Seriously, people. Google much?
Wow.....I'm really surprised u got so many questions about orange sticks......guess I just thought everyone knew what they were. Thanks for the video tho :)
Plastic straws work for cleaning up water marbling, and toothpicks work for making the designs. That's what I use because it's really cheap and you can just throw them out after :)
@beatriceyoung13 I try to keep my nails moisturized, lots of lotion & cuticle oil & I also take a biotin supplement – you can check out my Nail Maintenance vid in the Tips & Trick playlist for my full routine. I do occasionally get a tear or break but you can check out my tutorial on silk wrap patching for how I save those nails =) I do "Naked Nails" posts on my blog every month or so where I talk more about like all the specific products I'm currently using.

@TheBeccaBraindead I wipe what I can on a paper towel, then dip in polish remover & wipe some more. I reuse them until they break or are seriously stained =)
Hahaa A 4 minute video about orange wood sticks. No but it is seriously very kind of you to make this video for the people who didn't know what it was..
