  • should have zoomed in @ 0:51, that was a nice ass. for some reason all the sample on youtube looks dark as though underexpose.

  • you probly dont care but i live in michigan

  • HV40 takes some great HD video. I live in MI too but haven't been here before.

  • Great video. I know from your reply to another comment you used 30p progressive. But did you also use Manual Exposure and or Cinema Mode ?

  • @timelessfilmscenes Nope! Didn't use manual focus or the cinema mode on this one!

  • Wow. Apple commercial worthy!

  • too dark

  • I watched it again on another computer. Didn't see it this time. It's very strange. On my monitor at home, there was a pixeled, gray area ahead of the guy as he flips. Only for a few frames. Like a bad special effects render. Must be my monitor...but why? Hmmm.

  • Nice video. Technical question: At the 1:19 mark there is some glitch when the gentleman flips. Was that on your original footage? I'm considering purchasing an HV40, but still concerned about HDV editing.

Thanks for any input you have.

  • I played it on youtube and I don't see a glitch? Maybe try playing it again and it might go away???

  • That was awesome !

  • Awesome quality.

  • looks like a great day ;-)

    thx 4 this video

  • Terrific clarity !! What editing system did you use ?

  • looks really fantastic. Beautiful shots aswel!

  • Great capture! Love the worm eyed view of the shore 0:04. And 0:09, good shot too!

  • michigan dunes..i was just there this past summer

  • 0:52 <333333

  • this doesn't look bad, but it doesn't look like the other HV40 samples i've seen on youtube. what gives?

  • Well, I upped the contrast a tad in the editing suite, is that what it is?

  • were you in 24p?

  • Nope I actually shot this in 30p and uploaded in 30p.

  • yeah thats why its not as nice

  • @emailkenny its probably not 24p?

  • you should definetly get a polarized lens so you can see deep into the water and make it come out brighter

    but very good quality

have fun with your camera i love the hv20-40 cameras

  • nice capture

  • awesome quality..

  • You need to turn off auto exposure. It ruins your shots when you go from something bright to something dark.

  • Yah, I know...For some reason my camera won't let me adjust the exposure...I'm in program mode, the manual says that I can change it in manual mode, but I can't! Only until yesterday did it start letting me adjust the microphone levels...It's screwed up! Hopefully It will work in the near future! :)

  • You need to be on manual mode if you're not already. I do this in P mode when I use the HV20, and if yours has the same little joy stick on the back that you adjust with your thumb: You push : in once (to open the manual controls of exposure or mic level), down once (to select 'EXP'), then up once to open the adjustable slider in the viewfinder. Then you can adjust the levels of exposure.

It's lame you have to do 3 moves to get there, but once you remember "In, Down, Up" you get there fast.

  • well, that's how I try and change the exposure, but It's not highlighted and it won't let me change it. I got it to work once, like a month ago, but It's not working at all for me now... :(

  • Then I suggest joining a forum like dvxuser and asking others with the same camera. That's how I and many pros get quick answers.

  • good tip
