Competitive nature make for a great combination. As for rask, he put up great numbers because he is a great goalie. Numbers aren't always everything and I can vouch for that. A lot of things need to fall in place to have great numbers. I've had years with solid numbers and years with below average numbers. The team in front of a goalie has a lit to do with statistics.

People tend to forget though, he was in the top Finnish league and the Ahl/Ihl for years which is also great hockey.
