We paid a visit to Blists Hill a couple of weeks ago - really great day, fish and chips just tasted the same as I remember as a child. Also would like to thank everybody at the Museum for allowing us and all visitors to take dogs in, otherwise we would have missed out on a really great attraction - Well done Shropshire.
Hate to be a snooze, but "Turn of the century Victorian" would be a time that ended in 1901, am I right? The songs being sung in the pub are from 1912 (Tipperary) and 1915 (Goodbyee and Pack Up Your Troubles).
@sjmachrihanish ... it is the turn of the victorian century, its the changeover period from the Victoria Era into the new one.. so the songs being sang are correct.
Went here when i was 13 wow seems a long time ago, going to take my kids there. Our history is so important gives a good insight inot what life was really like. Just hope the actors are as good off camera as on. Is there a town drunk or criminal or wench after all everywhere had them. Looking forward to visiting again. Reccomend it to anyone. Wonder if the chip shop kebabs lol or fried snickers :-P
@stupidboydav i believe the teacher in victorian times really gave u a wallop real hard up ur ass lol dread being a convent school child back then in india lol
I went in 2001...and it was absolutly splendid. I recommend it to everyone with a slight interest in history. Definatly a must for anyone visiting Shropshire.
However, I was 11 at the time, and have to say the one disappointment was the Sweetshop. It was not as good as it could have been. BUT: the bank was fun, the shops were great and interactive, the food and drink was good, and there was loads to do all day.
I love Blists Hill, my favourite place evar!!
