I want to be Gino here in this movie. Just be with Edie for ever, and ever on that bed, in an eternal time loop...
Minus Chick of course - I don't understand what that guy's got anything to do with anything.
I won't even mention the name of that ridiculous movie some guy called Hickenlooper a few years ago. Such a mindless waste of celluloid. I have put it out of my mind.
@MowgliX The late George Hickenlooper was a kind, intelligent introspective director, who I believe caused renewed interest in Edie Sedgwick which yielded into a new cult of fascination in Warhol and Edie and is the reason you are watching her now.
@gina888warhol1 No, he wasn't the reason I'm watching this now. I first found out about Edie through articles about The Velvet Underground and Nico, and documentaries about about Andy Warhol's Factory. I wasn't aware of Hickenlooper's film Factory Girl until much later. I saw that movie and hated it, because it was a very inaccurate and mutilated account of Edie's life compared to the very excellent biography Edie: American Girl by Jean Stein and George Plimpton.
I wonder what was going on here. I mean, Chuck is being very rude to Edie, and they are both upset about something that happened before. Why was Edie hanging out with a guy like Chuck? She was the star here, she didn't need to.
@MowgliX I think Edie respected the fact that Chuck wasn't one of the legions of men who fell at her feet in admiration, though he certainly did admire her as later interviews would reveal. Edie was someone who didn't feign respect for anyone and indeed, Chuck seemed like he had no problem calling Edie out if she was being bothersome.
Factory Girl is not that inaccurate, in the move Edie does not start crying during this scene. She gets mad throws an ash tray and they continue filming though she is upset. Which she is upset in this movie. Factory Girl doesnt blame anyone, it is showing her relationship with these two men and her life during that time. Many of the things that happened in that movie happened in real life. People that knew Edie personally helped make that movie. It is pretty accurate, though dramatized slightly.
What does Chuck say at the beginning, as she's making out with Gino? Whatever it is it made her mad so she threw the ashtray. It sounds like "the boy isnt even a father" or something like that. I think he was trying to take a jab at Edie because of the alleged sexual abuse she recieved from her dad.
@meantamborine He says "You can do better than that, Edie. The boy's not here for the fun of it". He does say somewhere else "If Gino was older he could be your Daddy", that's the only reference I've heard to her father.
I'm doing a theater project where I pick someone I admire and create a 15 minute play/long monologue about them. I chose Edie because she was fascinating. Any suggestions?
@juswanaseesomevideos i'm sure she was channelling MM during this period. marilyn's iconography was looming large over pop culture @ the time this was shot.
@juswanaseesomevideos I see so much of Marilyn in Edie too, in particular the extremes they were predisposed to. Being exceptionally strong and weak, light and dark, brave and afraid, happy and sad, innocent and scarred, shrewd and naive, kind and difficult, lucky and doomed, overrated and ignored, of their time and ahead of it, the list goes on...
Factory Girl had this grand Hollywoodish plan to have Edie be destroyed by the things in the movie:Warhol, the Factory, the fake Bob Dylan, and they took her real life incidents and changed them to fit into the plan, so nothing is accurate, including the main storyline that she was destroyed by Andy & the Factory. Andy was a blip on the screen of Edie's life, & the Dylan thing is pure Hollywood. Fiction should not be confused with a person's life story.
@vincegaga He's makes an ass of himself in his film of Jimi Hendrix "Rainbow Bridge". I think hendrix was tired and just put up with his shit, I don't know why Edie did. I don't find his banter very intellectual although I'm sure he thought it was.
@pjbigss I think Edie put up with Chuck because he could be as outrageous and provocative as she was, but for the most part I agree that he was a total bore who probably thought of himself as a witty intellectual. Plus he seemed to love provoking fights and Edie loved people she could exchange barbs with. She seemed to admire people with a lot of nerve and independence like her father.
The movie just promotes so many misconceptions about Edie, the Factory and the people in it were a very small part of her life/problems. She was brutally physically, sexually, & psychologically abused by her Father, who was mentally ill & advised never to have kids, he had 8, of 3 boys, two of them committed suicide. Edie was more afraid/concerned about her Father locking her up than she was about these movies, photo shoots or anything else going on at the Factory!
They acknowledge all of that in the film beautifully...they truly show how difficult it was for her..she was never just a model celebrity drug addict, she was someone people fell in love with.
@RoxanneTime18 I think the film grossly misrepresents her, here she throws the ashtray & then says "Did I hurt you?" Is that ANYTHING like what was shown in Factory Girl? They portrayed her as a mess, with Andy destroying her life until she becomes a prostitute. Factory Girl is a fictionalized account of Edie's life, but people believe it even though it's clear from watching this clip she was poised & NEVER cried "turn the camera off". She was the opposite.
PLEASE people stop thinking that Factory Girl has anything to do with Edie!!!!! It is a self admittedly fictionalized (means MADE UP) account of someone's life! This clip says it all, in the movie Sienna makes a face & starts crying asking them to stop filming, in reality Edie lazily threw a ashtray, laid back & said that Gino was ignoring Chuck!!!!!! Then LAUGHED because there was no more alcohol to make Chuck a drink! The movie is only good in so far as it portrays the Silver Sixties, period.
She was 90 lbs when institutionalised for anorexia, but she appeared to be a decent weight for her frame in 1965, so I doubt it was that low here. It was probably closer to 90 in the black and white footage of 'Ciao' (1967).

Nobody except idiots and Paris Hilton fans care for the vapid, empty and brainless rich girl who became famous for being a promiscuous drug addled rich girl. Mesmerized? By what?
How exactly did you come to that conclusion? Having an inheritance and abusing drugs is not mutually inclusive with being brainless. Edie's beauty, charisma, wit, extroversion, tragedy, and past are certainly fascinating and if you don't get it, then you don't get it. However I do consider it ironic you feel compelled to judge intelligence given the assumptions you have made.
Edie had something special about her, the hollywood superstars of today are far from unique. They all copy eachother in every way. Edie Sedgewick was unique, and no one compares to her.
Who are you to judge Edie or even Paris? Who are you to make those assumptions that they aren't good people? Nobody, has the right to judge. Did you happen to that Edie was raped as a child or that her two brothers committed suicide? DId you know that her father was an alcholic and a manic depressive while the mother ran away because se was insane? And I'm not even going to ask why you felt the need to click on this video if you like her so much... One brain cell lost on my account.
i hate when people compare edie to paris; edie didn't experimenting with warhol for the sole face of "i want fame and cash"; she joined the factory scene because she believed in the idea behind warhol and his factory and ultimately fell into drugs because of personal and interpersonal conflicts; paris she's ridiculous, she released a failure album and lots of failure movies (failure even to the they all were was marketed towards) and is only really famous for having a sex tape and being wealthy
I'm sorry but it's ridiculous to hear that some of you didn't think Sienna looked or sounded like Edie. Compare two pictures of them side by side and you will see they look almost identical. Her real brother even said that Sienna resembled her greatly. The movie wasn't a good adaptation, but Sienna was perfect.
Oh yeah, I definitely agree. Put them side-by-side and the facial characteristics are uncanny. I think Sienna did a brilliant job of portraying Edie. It's a great movie. <3

Sienna only resembled Edie superficially. She had the style and look down well, but her facial features are 180 degrees from Edie's. Edie had very full, pedomorphic features, whereas Sienna's are chiselled and finer. Edie also had darker looks whereas Sienna looks more Nordic.
@xXPinkGoddessXx What does pedomorphic mean? Oh I just found out it means you retain your juvenile characteristics as a grown-up. OK pretty much correct.
chuck wein, a nobody, who will forever remain a nobody. He will always be known as that one dude who edie threw an ashtray at, while we forever love edie
yea and andy took advantage of her she didnt realize what he was doing to her i heard andy was abusive but thats only what heard i mean it kinda stinks for her cause no one took her seriously oh well
totally agree.......just got done watching the movie...saw this clip........there is alot of info missing and quite frankly besides the ashtray being thrown the dialogue seemed to be written in?/?
yeah..quite honestly i thought factory girl was so disappointing..sienna miller doesn't look or act anything like her..the bob dylan thing is too romanticized and so much dialogue was added to films she ACTUALLY made..it just sucked..they could have done so much better...plus when it came to this part in the movie they make it seem like she was being raped..she's obviousy willing in this actual clip..not to say they didnt use her, but i mean shit..oh and fuck chuck (the guy in the background)

This is ridiculous...this is a movie?...Andy Warhol was a twisted fuck-wad, no-talent.....too bad these people got caught in his *web*....I cannot believe these poor people were that gullable...God bless anyone who came across his path and those that he *fucked over*...I cannot believe someone didn't beat the shit out of him...little twit-head
In 1968 a woman shot and almost killed Warhol. Its said he was withdrawn and afraid for the rest of his life. I dont believe in lynching, but its so obvious that he set himself up. He made his studio a speed freak shark tank and one of the sharks finally bit him. He was too cheap to pay the woman some money for a manuscript of hers that he lost, which was all she wanted.
NO wonder! You are exactly right...He certainly set himself up. Good, he should have been *withdrawen and afraid*....considering the people he used and abused. Karma..what goes around comes around!
Assuming that Warhol was not to blame for her addiction to methamphetamine, what should he have done when she finally cracked up? One: told her that everyone would understand if she left, instead of treating like a traitor. Two: vowed that something like this must never happen again, instead of hiring Susan, the high school dropout, age 17, who was drunk on the set of Chelsea Girls. Absolutely despicable.
Was this the scene in the film Factory girl where Chuck taunts Edie? (Having watched the film I'm incredibly interested in the whole topic of Andy Warhol and his associates..)
the REAL edie is soo much more interesting than that cartoon of a film - tho sienna & guy were good, it blurred\botched not only the facts but edie's clothes & hairstyles (!) but yea, from wut i've read in comments....
and this is ALL Andy W. work! People call him a genius..he was a devil! Drugging, Rapping and filming it..what a sick bastard! Even though he abused prescription speed, his intentions were evil, selfish, and deserve no recognition..Edie S. on the other hand was a victim throughout her young life..she was not only abused by her dad but by her so called "friends" all for the sake of drugs and fake stardom! God be with her and Gino..a few victims of Andy W...the VAMPIRE!
hahahaha I was gonna say something, but you beat me to the punch. Warhol was not freaking evil...he was not the anti-christ. He was involved in a subculture where drugs and excess were the norm and that culture is what killed everyone not Andy. Thank you for posting this...It was great.. Too many playa-haters though.
and where does this person get their info about andy abusing prescription speed ?!? i'm new to that one, lmao! and even if he did, hellllo .. they were LEGAL then, even the Kennedys did same. soo many overwrought views of andy. he merely provided a conduit for these outrageous people to display themselves to the worldwide art media (when no one else would, incidentally)
I get the impression that, basically, Edie likes Chuck here. It may be that, for all his arrogance and stupidity, Chuck was looking out for her. I also sense that whatever friendship there was, it's going sour, that Chuck is tired of her behavior, tired of being her nanny. The truth keeps slipping out. Meanwhile, Andy is encouraging people to destroy themselves by promising them stardom, pig that he is.
ok anyone who believes anything about edie or andy based on the movie Factory Girl, knows nothing. Read a book you guys!!! Even Lou Reed hated the movie because it paints an almost all fictional story. That's why it was only BASED on a true story.Give her more credit than that, she may have been fragile but she wasn't stupid. And as for chuck and Mr. Fingers aka Gino...it's part of the film's concept!!!
Absolutely! Edie was incredibly smart and talented! People make assumptions without having read her Bio, or bothering to learn anything about her! Fragile is one thing, stupid is another! People are morons! Thanks for posting something intelligent!!
smart?? drug abuse, no money(spent all of it), been abused by her "friends" an die so young by drugs, life of misery. no, no smart. don't blame her, she was not loved.
Calling Warhol the father of reality tv isn't exactly a compliment. Reality tv is a manipulated view of reality, just as these people were being manipulated for our enjoyment. I think it's rather sad and sick.
Where did you get a clip from Beauty #2 ??? Hard to come by! Beauty #2 is considered to be her seminal work as an underground Superstar. Where did you get this? Thank you for posting!
She seems to be into the guy here. In "Factory Girl" shes trying to get into it, but doesn't like it. AND they are arguing about something completely different. Chuck is arguing with her in this movie because other wise the movie would have just been two people making out. They had plenty of pornos back then. Andy Warhol created Reality TV ages ago with this.
The book Rough Guide To The Velvet Underground says that despite it's flaws there's a lot of truth about Edie and Andy in the movie Factory Girl. The best source about her is the book Edie: American Girl.
Yes, that's Chuck Wein talking in the background. He attempted to be Edie's 'svengali', but he was only interested in the financial gains he might have got out of her.
Someone is quoted in the book Edie Factory Girl as saying that Chuck Wein ruined her acting by overdirecting. Wein really comes off as overbearing here, rude.
i dont know too much about this topic...but besides her talking about being abused by her father while shooting "Beauty"...what else was false in Factory girl?
He is being perverse we all have that quality in us. Some of us choose to use it and those that do are assholes to say the least

chuck wein, a nobody, who will forever remain a nobody. He will always be known as that one dude who edie threw an ashtray at, while we forever love edie

you know you should read and research more than just see factory girl and deduce such idea...

totally agree.......just got done watching the movie...saw this clip........there is alot of info missing and quite frankly besides the ashtray being thrown the dialogue seemed to be written in?/?
amandur19 3 years ago
yeah..quite honestly i thought factory girl was so disappointing..sienna miller doesn't look or act anything like her..the bob dylan thing is too romanticized and so much dialogue was added to films she ACTUALLY made..it just sucked..they could have done so much better...plus when it came to this part in the movie they make it seem like she was being raped..she's obviousy willing in this actual clip..not to say they didnt use her, but i mean shit..oh and fuck chuck (the guy in the background)

This is ridiculous...this is a movie?...Andy Warhol was a twisted fuck-wad, no-talent.....too bad these people got caught in his *web*....I cannot believe these poor people were that gullable...God bless anyone who came across his path and those that he *fucked over*...I cannot believe someone didn't beat the shit out of him...little twit-head
rome8899 3 years ago
In 1968 a woman shot and almost killed Warhol. Its said he was withdrawn and afraid for the rest of his life. I dont believe in lynching, but its so obvious that he set himself up. He made his studio a speed freak shark tank and one of the sharks finally bit him. He was too cheap to pay the woman some money for a manuscript of hers that he lost, which was all she wanted.
ZenPapageno 3 years ago 3
NO wonder! You are exactly right...He certainly set himself up. Good, he should have been *withdrawen and afraid*....considering the people he used and abused. Karma..what goes around comes around!
rome8899 3 years ago
lol. you are right.

(Having watched the film I'm incredibly interested in the whole topic of Andy Warhol and his associates..)
videomurf 3 years ago
the REAL edie is soo much more interesting than that cartoon of a film - tho sienna & guy were good, it blurred\botched not only the facts but edie's clothes & hairstyles (!) but yea, from wut i've read in comments....
desertshore 3 years ago
and this is ALL Andy W. God be with her and Gino..a few victims of Andy W...the VAMPIRE!

andy was a rapper?
desertshore 3 years ago
hahahaha I was gonna say something, but you beat me to the punch. Warhol was not freaking evil...he was not the anti-christ. He was involved in a subculture where drugs and excess were the norm and that culture is what killed everyone not Andy. Thank you for posting this...It was great.. Too many playa-haters though.
chandru1103 3 years ago
holllla! where are all the playa lovers?
and where does this person get their info about andy abusing prescription speed ?!? i'm new to that one, lmao! and even if he did, hellllo .. they were LEGAL then, even the Kennedys did same. soo many overwrought views of andy. he merely provided a conduit for these outrageous people to display themselves to the worldwide art media (when no one else would, incidentally)

can someone tell me how i can find Space, andy warhol's movie, which gino appeared in ?
marjorysb7 3 years ago
I get the impression that, basically, Edie likes Chuck here. It may be that, for all his arrogance and stupidity, Chuck was looking out for her. I also sense that whatever friendship there was, it's going sour, that Chuck is tired of her behavior, tired of being her nanny. The truth keeps slipping out. Meanwhile, Andy is encouraging people to destroy themselves by promising them stardom, pig that he is.
ZenPapageno 3 years ago
ok anyone who believes anything about edie or andy based on the movie Factory Girl, knows nothing. Read a book you guys!!! Even Lou Reed hated the movie because it paints an almost all fictional story. That's why it was only BASED on a true story.Give her more credit than that, she may have been fragile but she wasn't stupid. And as for chuck and Mr. Fingers aka Gino...it's part of the film's concept!!!
watzername27 3 years ago
Absolutely! Edie was incredibly smart and talented! People make assumptions without having read her Bio, or bothering to learn anything about her! Fragile is one thing, stupid is another! People are morons! Thanks for posting something intelligent!!
Saraswathi67 3 years ago 2
smart?? drug abuse, no money(spent all of it), been abused by her "friends" an die so young by drugs, life of misery. no, no smart. don't blame her, she was not loved.

In Beauty 2 one of Wein's wisecracks is about incest. That's where she tells him to shut up. GET ANOTHER ASHTRAY AND AIM FOR THE BALLS!
ZenPapageno 3 years ago 4
Not everything in Factory Girl is true.
Most parts are fiction and didn't happen. I mean the guy she was supposed to be inlove with is supposed to be Bob Neuworth.
foreveranahera 3 years ago 3
what an irritating pest "Mr Fingers" is... I can't stand to watch him all over her!

Calling Warhol the father of reality tv isn't exactly a compliment. Reality tv is a manipulated view of reality, just as these people were being manipulated for our enjoyment. I think it's rather sad and sick.
amackitty 3 years ago 5
Where did you get a clip from Beauty #2 ??? Hard to come by! Beauty #2 is considered to be her seminal work as an underground Superstar. Where did you get this? Thank you for posting!
closer71 3 years ago

Chuck Wein was an arrogant, self-seeking bastard.
Dingalingring 3 years ago 7
Someone is quoted in the book Edie Factory Girl as saying that Chuck Wein ruined her acting by overdirecting. Wein really comes off as overbearing here, rude.
ZenPapageno 4 years ago 2
Is that really Chuck talking? In the movie they totally took this scene but made it about her getting abused by her father.
