There is no historical record basis to infer that he actually had gone around healing lepers and amputees and raising the dead. Such things would have been a sensation that would have been recorded immediately and by many. Instead we have only THREE contemporary passing mentions of him. Go figure....
Am I a Christian because I'm afraid of death? No. If that were the case, then there would be a lot more Christians out there. I am a Christian because of my relationship with Jesus. If this event actually occurred due to supernaturalism then why couldn't a lot of religious atrocities be halted in a similar manner through "god's" power? (i.e. the crusades, 911, etc.) All those people supposedly died for their "god", so god might have wanted to intervene and halted these atrocities via his supernatural power. So why am I supposed to believe in "god" if I can't see it for myself? That's because those events are based on hearsays and never actually happened. God doesn't exist!

Jesus came to restore the personal relationship that was lost when Adam sinned. Through Jesus sacrifice death and His resurrection, He provided restoration to that lost relationship. Yes it was recommended by a christian, and yes I find christian apologetics videos quite entertaining. A lot of these christian videos are linked from atheist blogs. That is how I usually come across these things. The atheist bloggers link to the apologetics videos to illustrate how weak the christian arguments are, and how delusional people can be. When there was no more hope for humanity, he sent his only son Jesus Christ as the last prophet. He died for our sins so that by his sacrifice we may be forgiven. God came to show us how much he cared and all who would fall Jesus shall be saved. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

And God could have just forgiven or destroyed us but he came on earth to die and show us how much he loves us so that he may turn people back to God. The "prophet" mohammed didn't have his "encounter" until approximately 600 AD... which dates the New Testament of the Bible at an easy 570-600 years prior to the Qur'an. Now that we've settled that, there's a reason the Gospels are looked at the most. It's because they contain the words of Jesus. The letters epistles and so on are written from His followers. Why wouldn't we focus on the words of Jesus?

There is no historical record basis to infer that he actually had gone around healing lepers and amputees and raising the dead. All religions other than Christianity are based upon man's attempt to get into heaven usually by trying to live a good life. Christianity is the only one that is dependant on the one who started it. If this event actually occurred due to supernaturalism then why couldn't a lot of religious atrocities be halted in a similar manner through "god's" power? (i.e. the crusades, 911, etc.) All those people supposedly died for their "god", so god might have wanted to intervene and halted these atrocities via his supernatural power. We can point to different things that Jesus came to do and we would all be right. However, to single out one thing does not show the whole picture.
Jesus came to restore the personal relationship that was lost when Adam sinned. Through Jesus sacrifice death and His resurrection, He provided restoration to that lost relationship. There are a lot of comments about "this and that" details, but that just clouds the window of the question that we all must answer:

At Luke 8:2 it says the WOMEN had evil spirits and Mary Magalene had 7 Demons. It is important to note that Jesus only showed himself post mortem to his OWN followers even though he promised to show himself to his evil generation.

When there was no more hope for humanity, he sent his only son Jesus Christ as the last prophet. He died for our sins so that by his sacrifice we may be forgiven. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

And God could have just forgiven or destroyed us but he came on earth to die and show us how much he loves us so that he may turn people back to God. This was done to turn people away from sin and Satan. If you accept Jesus as your saviour and repent on your sins, that is how you are saved. If you are skeptical, read the Bible for yourself (New testament) then come back here to argue.

He is the energy source that created the 'Big Bang' Theory. My daughter Melissa was given 1 hr to live at Columbia Presbyterian Hosp Bx NY. Both her lungs were unable to stop bleeding. Drs said that not even a lung transplant would save her. He came to bring a standard...a standard of love. Turn the other cheek, give to those who ask, and more is the way of life Jesus came to set. Many of course don't display this kind of love and as such misrepresent the character and life of Jesus. God is love, and those who know God will love as He did.

The "prophet" mohammed didn't have his "encounter" until approximately 600 AD... which dates the New Testament of the Bible at an easy 570-600 years prior to the Qur'an. Now that we've settled that, there's a reason the Gospels are looked at the most. It's because they contain the words of Jesus. The letters epistles and so on are written from His followers. Why wouldn't we focus on the words of Jesus?

Did you happen to read the verse after that? "Husbands, LOVE your wives and do not be harsh with them." Col 3:19 Christianity is about love people and loving the God who created us. Submission isn't about being ruled over. Jesus told us to "follow" Him, to lay down our lives and take up our cross. Submission is about selflessness.
