The beauty with poker. Call raise or fold, you can play any hand any number of ways. More often than not, the other players at the table determine how you play your hands. Loose table maybe you limp with 9's tight table maybe you would raise with the hand. Here's my tip; play in position it gives you so much control in the hand and even if you check the flop your still in control if they bet into you on the turn. Remember last to act is huge.

This call is ''standard'' if you like to call with 2-1 odds when the board has 2 overcards to your pocket hand after you already bet and got called on the flop.

So basically, this would be a ''standard'' call if you overrates your pocket hands = donkey.

He makes it sound like some sort of voodoo read, but it seems like a very standard play to me.

The Cbet was dark, so the call has a pretty wide range (drawing hands plus any four or jack).

Turn and river are perfect, as they don't improve any hand (ex 45). The point of the turn check is so you can call the river bet, which will often be a bluff. You call the river bet simply because you are ahead of his range - no "physical tells" required. Dan is paying off a jack here 100% of the time.

The "physical tells" are what let Daniel know that his 99 was with very little doubt the best hand. Dan is NOT paying off a J here 100% of the time. Maybe, just maybe, he'll pay one off 70% of the time, but with his reading ability it probably isn't even that high.

The point is not if Negreanu should have fold his 6 full when Gus re-raised 160K on the river. The point is if Negreanu is so good at looking for tells, he should have probed Gus' possible hands at Gus' turn check. Why bet so much on the river 7 and left himself with no option like an amateur?
