  • Nobody suggested the amber reversing lights are used or should be used anywhere. However, turn indicators /4-way hazard flashers are the standard on motor vehicles in the majority of countries around the world, including South America, Japan, China and other motoring countries. In the US, there is no law requiring the use of amber turn signals in the rear, therefore it has become a toy in the hands of Detroit stylists, not a tool for driver communication.

  • I did not see the reversing lights in the bumper area. If that white lamp is the reversing light, then there is no separate, amber turn indicator.

There is no reason to put the reversing lights above the eye level of the car driver, and even less reason to fit all-red tail/stop/turn combination taillights on modern vehicles.

Gerintocracy rules, GM still could not shed the old thinking. Glitz first, safety a distant second. 2008-12-26

  • You must be in Europe. America doesn't use Amber reverse lights.
