I think younger is better because they are lighter, smaller and much more flexible. We've had three 14 yr old's. A female gymnast has a short life span because the changes in her body. She can no longer do high flips but can still remain flexible. Change the age and let China have it.
Unless Bela Karolyi doubles as a certified dentist with superb vision, I'm disregarding his claims of the Chinese gymnasts having baby teeth. Poor dentistry is not unheard of. The Chinese being small is not unheard of. The "3.5 inches shorter, 30 lbs lighter" is relevant to the average Chinese and the average American (not just gymnasts), due to difference in diets. It's funny because the idea of the girls being younger than the minimum only came up when USA lost the gold to China. :)
chinese girls are not underage. they just train differently and the body structure is different. don't compare asian girls with american girls!! just look at Japanese girls, some of them look small too. and btw they r short and little because when they were chosen to do gymnastics when they were young, they were tested about their future height and stuff. only the ones that will be short and tiny will be chosen. they don't get enough nutrient and stuff because they need to keep skinny

First, because Marion Jones teammates successfully sued the IOC last year to have their medals returned, even though there was no doubt a member of the US relay team was on steroids. If a chinese official recognizes someone has a special talent, they send them to special schools where all they do is practice that talent everyday. The Soviet Union did this as well.

First, because Marion Jones teammates successfully sued the IOC last year to have their medals returned, even though there was no doubt a member of the US relay team was on steroids. Second, because the Olympic Charter clearly states that no results can be "challenged by anyone after a period of three years from the day of the Closing Ceremony."

Well...We asian usually look smaller and shorter than western people, when i engaged with my fiance and move to europe to live with him , people shock when i told them im 23 years old because i look even more younger then most of the 16 years old girls, And my 8 years old sister in law looks bigger thn me, she is almost as tall as i am & doesnt look like 8 years old that i usually saw in asia..however its not the first time China cheating in their gymnast age.

If a chinese official recognizes someone has a special talent, they send them to special schools where all they do is practice that talent everyday. The Soviet Union did this as well.
What makes this so sad is that because of this they probably didn't have to cheat to win. They could have won from forcibly training people of age alone. China will do whatever it can to keep its image and prevent its people from learning the truth about its corrupt government.

this is soo stupid!! everybody knos chinese people are naturally smaller plus they hav healthier food, in america there are wayy more fast food places. and gymnasts train soo hard that they cant grow!! obviously their going to be wayy smaller than average, im chinese but live in england and im still quite small compared to everyone else considering i eat the same amount so they have no right to say that just cos they lost :P

@sam333gymnast Where to begin? Oh yeah! Do you have any idea about China or their gymnasts? Have you been to a Chinese gymnastics studio and watched them torture their gymnasts? If they were tortured, they would've quit gymnastics. Awful training, huh? Then why are they so extremely talented? Face it, you don't know what you're talking about! There are more than 1.2 million Chinese people on the earth. I hope you know that the US owe more than a trillion dollars to China cause they spend a lot!
