  • USA should be proud of him! :))

  • @sdjnwhyNZ yes! we are very proud of him :) it makes me happy as a black guy to see him play classical pieces because it is something i never see personally. i love the versatility overall, but i love classical trumpet-not jazz. i love his rendition of hummel's 3rd movement. the trills. this is my favorite movement. wynton marsalis is a superior musician and hooray for the lso!!!

  • @VanessaMaeFan18 I started watching his MV from 1995. ;)

  • @sdjnwhyNZ the fact you saw him live is awesome!! i discovered him through my dad when i heard him play the haydn e-flat concerto and the trumpet concerto in d major (adagio 1st mvt) and i was just in awe at his fluidity. he is a truly amazing musician.

  • It's definitely E trumpet, his original recording from the 80's was Eb. Another way to tell his in this video when he plays haydn, he uses a silver Eb shilcke with a golden C trumpet bell. This is standard E trumpet from Schilke. It's really just about the same thing.

  • Will Smith plays trumpet?

  • You guys are wrong, this is in Eb i just used this video as playalong and i played on Eb trumpet...

  • plays his music with such full sound...every note is distinct...his ability to play classical, I feel , outweighs his jazz even thou he is known most for his jazz.....his technical ability is equal to any concert trumpet player in any orchestra...what a gorgeous sound...

  • his trumpet has no lead pipe

  • @kilroy00011 It's a trumpet keyed in E, hence no lead pipe. Just google around for E or Eb trumpets and you can see what they look like

  • @ymtisd His horn is actually keyed in Eb. That's what most of the original solos and concertos of this era were written for. E trumpets are rare enough to be considered obsolete.

  • @TowsonTrumpetGuy His trumpet in this video is actually an E trumpet. This recording was played in the original key of E. Just take a look at his fingerings and you'll see that it wouldn't match if he was playing in concert E on an Eb trumpet. Check out 2:10, where he plays the open valved concert B's. On an Eb trumpet the concert B fingerings would be valves 2 and 3.

  • @kilroy00011 Lol, he's just that good. He can play his horn with no leadpipe. I'm joking of course, but this Wynton is just such a beast.

  • 2:41 with such ease

  • he's the best

  • BRAVO!!

the equally impressive 'other side' of wynton..
