well the thing is you may own it for Personal use with the purchase of the song.. but you do not have specific permission from the artist to use the song in your video... Which i frankly is bullcrap... but SAY HELLO TO THE WHINEY BASTARDS IN THE ENTERTAINMENT BUSINESS

The copyright issue pisses me off. If anything the music is FREE advertising for an artist. I enjoy hearing music in videos and I think it's going to take a lot away from video makers and that's not fair. I would be all for the 'buy this on itunes' thing. That sounds very reasonable to me.

Yeah, I try and avoid using copyrighted music on my videos now. I'm lucky enough to be able to make some of my own music though. I think they must have updated their detection software.

To be fair to YouTube it's not their fault, it's some precious artists and record companies.

If you buy the CD you still can't use it as you're not buying the rights distribute it or broadcast it.

Each song effectively has a fingerprint and I think the software tries to find the whole or part of the fingerprint.

I had a video detected and YT put an ad on it with all the revenue going to record company, which I think was fair enough.

I really like the iTunes link as everyone's a winner there.

wow! yet another amazing drawing. i've had a couple of vids copyrighted but they haven't removed them, theyv'e just said they will be monitoring the hits my videos get and advertising their goods on said copyrighted video page. I noticed the other night alot of the music videos i had favourited have been removed or the music had been muted which annoyed me alot!!!

For buying the cd they still say it's copyright due to the fact anyone can download the video strip it of it's sound and there they have the song. but it's stupid cause they used a vlog of mine and said it was copyrighted all that was in it was my voice. So it's more google is now messed up in the head.

WHAT!? I hope mine don't get removed.... (don't blame me for not knowing becouse aparently by Matt I live in a dounut box)(inside joke) anyway, that is kinda unlogical, I mean youtube is only 1 of the of many ways for people to download music illegaly, why bother, it just makes youtube worse, people may even stop using it if it gets too bad....then what youtube, THEN WHAT!? they should find a way so that said videos have higher security or maybe unacsessable from outside of youtube. IDK.

They denied my '51 Things in my room' video because I used an entire Air song, but I don't use the actual song file so it couldn't be that. I think maybe because I did use a whole song, they denied it, and if you use like 15 seconds they don't mind so much? But I think it's good advertising for them and they should leave it. It still bugs me how they leave music videos on that people upload and we peeps who have a few hundred subs or whatever get treated like dirt.
