I just got Final Cut Pro X and was wondering if it was possible to do the disspearing effect on it..if so could anyone tell me howo or show me on a video.
I've tried, and used many video editing applications for windows, mac, and even linux.
These final cut pro effects are pretty cheap and crappy, and many can be done heaps better, with free software.
I would of normally thought that something like Final Cut Pro would be decent, but this just looks like utter crap. I thought apple were better than this.
I would even go to say, that with some third party plugins, Windows Movie Maker would be better than this.
What i have seen so far is that the people that are complaining about FCPX don't have no good videos on YOUTUBE at all!!!!!!!! SHOW ME SOME GOOD WORK THAT YOU HAVE DONE ON FINAL CUT 7 OR AVID.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
FCPX is for wannabe editors, it is in no way a tool for pros. "'a new paradigm for video editing" - give me a break. All this software is going to produce is a bunch of third rate amateur crap. This softwae is JUNK.
@thecreativeone With features Pro depend on like Multi-cam Editing OMF Xml The ability open old project's and many more. I think editors will switch or stay with final cut pro 7 like me!
@thecreativeone I think that with the right idea, one can create professional quality videos with this program. I am getting it without a doubt after I get my Canon 60D.
@UnitedBritannia Forigive me if I am wrong but I would put money on you not actually being a pro editor. Quit complaining and simply move to a different software.
@UnitedBritannia While you are absolutely correct and share your opinion, there is one thing about FCPX that stands out: it has a rock-solid foundation to develop the program further. Until that time, I will and shall not recommend it to anyone. That said, it's awesome how the program does process any changes you make to the project on the background and churns away so that the final render takes less time. As technology this is very impressive. As a product, less so. =)
@t0rakka2007 Result: mixed-feelings. Impressive technology. Smooth user interface. Pleasing for the eyes. Cons: feature starved, very much so. Half the things I'm used to having just aren't there. I'd like to see more and where this leads. Could have done better not paying for this and using the money on more refined versions coming down the road. Oh well.. bummer. Still, strange.. on the other hand this is 5/5 product, but for production 1/5. I'd love to work with this, but can't... argh..
@UnitedBritannia your whining is clearly an amateur's attitude. If you are a real professional cut the crybaby drama and simply find a solution. Buy Adobe or Avid.
@UnitedBritannia actually i mean its cool but its not for pro's. not that i am one. its just fun too have and is in a way just an upgraded version of "imovie" not final cut pro 7
I think its got quite a few updates to go until it could tickle "ADOBE PREMIERE "or "SONY VEGAS" back doors. Seems kool for a Entry Level newbie app just to get used to the whole concept of video Editing.
I've got to say that it's brilliant, though some of them are to be find in a consumer product like iMovie. BUT (and it's a big but), I was breathless when i saw the bad TV, earthquake and the water thing in the end. That might save hours of hopeless work in After Effect or Motion....
nice, so they spent a bunch of effort to put in cheesy effects that we'll *never* use, instead of things like preserving the color app or making things backwards compatible. nice!
Final Cut Pro X is the most impressive professional editing system ever conceived. I love this product. Thank you Apple! Final Cut Pro 7 seems a prehistoric tool now!
Water plane I have to admit looks really good also with the flashing it would be good for for car adverts and shows Topgear use it a lot. I am sure these are only a handful of effects in Final Cut Pro X. Thanks for sharing david.
@thecreativeone Its not very serious work..my university is doing a film fest..and i'm like the computer geek so i have edit it and do the fun stuff...oh and also i was wondering does it have the "Stability" Effect were it makes the camera less shaky becuz we are putting a camera in front of a car while driving.
As a prosumer of videography for me, FCPX is a welcome release, thanks to 64 bit processing, background rendering, color matching clips, sound matching and overall work-flow offer huge improvements over prev gen FCP.I feel that apple made an unusually errorneous marketing blunder, With Sooo many features missing, the current version makes it almost useless for TRUE broadcast editing houses. Apple should have branded FCPX and marketed it more specifically to clients like you and me.
@theapplegenius yea you can, but you cant save your saved effect as a preset, like in the previous color, so you have to individually add and readjust for EVERY single clip
...It's just a damn software program guys. don't get in a major nerd war over a program. If David likes it and wants to spend the money on it, then let it be and let him show the effects of it.
David, Although everyone is hating on this video, I think it was a good idea. Why not show things that FCPX has in terms of stock effects. I'm sure if you look around you'll find more effects but this a very extensive set of effects. I think it was great video.
David imma long time viewer and fan but cmon dont u think 300$ for something almost as close to imovie is a ripoff? trust me it has awesome potential and great for Utube vids but still. 300$...
@ttk1opc A video about effects proves this is a version of iMovie? Have YOU used FCPX yet? It's very extensive. Don't assume things by watching a simple video. Use the app yourself.
Pretty generic for a $300 product... Some good ones, not too original. If it were cheaper I would buy it in it's current state. Looks good for YouTube video making, though.
Some interesting stuff... while I was disappointed at FIRST, I'm finding out that there is a lot more customizable in the program than appears on the surface.
This is just the base program and I have a feeling we will be seeing some major updates in the months to come. Since I got this 2 days ago, I have already received 2 update notices.
I'm final cut pro 7 level 2 certified, with over 3 years of final cut pro experience. After using FCPX for about 10 hours of editing, I can safely say that it is NOT "professional" or "precise" in any way. I feel that "Final Cut Express X" would have been a much more suitable name for the application.
@iAppleMUSIC haha same here ;D about being L2. Yeah it's totally not a professional program. I mean the only great things occur under the hood, Apple could have just updated the interface from the old ones with cool new styles, but instead they ripped the old and replaced it with something totally not pro... I hope Apple does bot become a full consumer based company... Here's hoping...
@MetalMonkeyStudios I'm just saying, FCPX is receiving a lot more negative press than it deserves. After playing around with it for a few days, I'm very impressed with the amount of options I have available for editing. As I always say, it's easier to complain than it is to appreciate.
@2040Tech Of course it's professional. Everyone seems to be using the term "professional" in the wrong way. It can be interpreted many ways. Don't jump on the negative bandwagon. If YOU enjoy the app, then great. I know I do. Be a leader, not a follower.
@JimmysHobby So you're saying you would never color grade a clip? You do realize that all movies are altered in some way or another... This is no different. Every effect you see is fully customizable.
After the initial period of having to relearn a few things FCPX is seriously starting to grow on me. I fully understand that "pros" take issue with a few features that are MIA, but am shock at how childish and dumb they come off. There were reviews in less then an hour after it launched...how do you review something with so much depth in that amount of time?
@lukewind30 I could not agree more. I'm still finding some very powerful things in FCPX. Unfortunately, most people seem to be focusing on the negative portions of FCPX, rather than the positives. It really is an awesome piece of software that's only going to get even better.
@thecreativeone I think that you may be finding things powerful because you are coming from iMovie but coming from Final Cut Pro it is a step back. I feel that the consumers or prosumers are judging the pros unfairly because they are two totally different worlds when it comes to film. Just my two cents. I do enjoy FCPX though and think it has potential (iMovie 08 all over again).
@BuckNutProductions These are more effects than filters, hence the customization available. Filters, in my opinion, are one-stop shortcuts that don't allow any options to be set.
@pugzlie18 They're a starting point. You can tweak the way they look and work and used in the correct situation and context they can add a lot of depth to the scene.
@thecreativeone Please don't put it in your future videos again. I have nightmares about plastic birds because of a traumatic childhood experience. :(
Just a suggestion David, but maybe add a Picture-in-Picture shot of the original clip, looping, so we can tell the difference for some of the more subtle effects.
I mean, I could only compare the effect to the one I had seen before it, and the next one.
When I really wanted to compare it to the original clip.
Otherwise, good backing music, and a very pretty clip you used.
@TheDarxo That's why I showed the original clip longer than the effects. Adding in a PIP would've taken up too much real estate. I wanted to display as much information as possible.
@thecreativeone Yeah :DDD I know but stupid me didn't read the description box.I have final cut pro x :D I just don't realized that i can customize the effects!I think that final cut pro x is great! GREAT VIDEO AS ALWAYS DAVID!

@thecreativeone You know what I'm talking about. Seriously, what's up with that plastic bird thing??!!!!
tobyandjustine 8 months ago 14
@tobyandjustine It's there to keep cranes away from eating our pond fish.
thecreativeone 8 months ago 6
@thecreativeone Please don't put it in your future videos again. I have nightmares about plastic birds because of a traumatic childhood experience. :(
tobyandjustine 8 months ago 33
@tobyandjustine I'll be sure to include the plastic bird more often. Request received!

My favourites were Water Pane and Bad TV.

My favorite effect was Teal & Orange.
Nice video David!

@vajksziget7a No, you don't. You can fully customize all these effects in FCPX. Believe me, I was surprised at the number of options available!
thecreativeone 8 months ago
@thecreativeone Yeah :DDD I know but stupid me didn't read the description box.I have final cut pro x :D I just don't realized that i can customize the effects!I think that final cut pro x is great! GREAT VIDEO AS ALWAYS DAVID!

The bokeh effect is pretty cool...it seems like Apple is just trying to combine Final Cut Pro/Express with iMovie, but still pretty cool nonetheless.
