  • Streut Bapu' s Asche in den Ozean!!!!

  • my boyfriend took me here. it's such a peaceful place, i think i can sit there for hours just looking at the nice view.

  • If you but once spend a little time at this lake shrine

you will then shall know why Ghandis ashes should remain there.

  • Why do they not return Gandhijis ashes to his family as those in India have done?

They are supposed to be immersed in water by Hindu law.

Why were Ganghis ashes stolen by "great ordeal" and then put in this "shrine"?

It is not in according to Hindu law which Gandhiji lived by.

His family has asked ashes to be returned.

Why are they still in California?

  • @mommynanda His family understands. Yogananda was Gandhi's Sat-guru so they accept that his connection with Gandhi was important to Gandhi. He willed that a portion of his ashes be left to Yogananda. The remainder were with his family who have sent them to the Ganges. Don't worry, all is good and all is as Gandhi wanted.

  • @joopsnoop

Except Dr. V.M. Nawle stole Gandhis ashes.

  • @mommynanda Oh dear, that's terrible. Was their an investigation? What did this man do with the ashes he stole?

  • Jai Guru!!!

  • I love this beautiful place. I took my daughter and my nephew there last week and they loved the swans, koi fish and turtles!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Pensar que estuve allí en 1993, qué recuerdos más gratos, que aun mantengo vívidos en mi mente y corazón. Jai Guru!!

  • George Harrison's memorial service was held here; he was definitely a devotee, as was Dennis Weaver. SRF is the largest meditation centered spiritual movement in the world. Try reading Autobiography of a Yogi. Jai Guru!

  • Jai Guru, Iperreault! :)

The lake shrine is my happy place! :)

  • me too -- I was married there 20 years ago next week!

  • yes george harrison had many visits here

  • George Harrison???

but he was a here krishna devotee????

  • @criptovicto No, he wasn't. He met with Srila Prabhupad, yes, but he has stated himself that it was Yogananda and the teachings of Kriya that touched his life most significantly. He even included the pictures of the SRF gurus on his album cover.

  • I grew up with this music! my mom always played it in the car.

  • Just got to visit the Lake Shrine day before yesterday. It is amazing.

Thank you for this wonderful post.

Thank you for this wonderful post.

  • Is this where George Harrison used to go on occasion?

  • George Harrison was in SRF? cool

  • I think he was loosely associated with it.

  • Maybe not, George was devotee of hare krishna... not kriya

  • It's divine....! A place so filled with God' s love and peace... it's heaven on earth....

  • The music is very beautiful!

    Heaven on Earth!

  • Done that. Been there. Truly Heaven on Earth. You should see the rest of it!!!

  • Self Realization Fellowship keeps their grounds absolutely stunning! Well worth a visit in Los Angeles and Encinitas, CA

  • This is a wonderful "open air" temple. Inside are ensconced some of the ashes of Mahatma Gandhi whom Yogananda upheld as a model of saintly response to violence. I have attached a video response from the film "Ahimsa--Non-Violence" which discusses the influence of ahimsa on Gandhi's life.
