The Ghost song I have always thought paid respects to the "Ghost Dance', a ritual once performed by the Native Americans in hopes that the insolent and land hungry Europeans would vanish and the land return to its peace and harmony.
Even though I might not have existed I wish it had worked.
Peace, Love, and may we pass through the Doors and see beyond.
theres two sides to the world the spiritual side and the reality side which is physical thats like the government, drama and all that crap the spiritual side is all creative its using the astral world to communicate it has all the answers and its where your soul is at A.K.A the subconscious
haven't you guys heard bill hicks? if you don't believe that the best music was influenced by drugs, take all your cds and burn em. maybe it's coicidence. maybe there's a fine line between genius and high... but i'm feeling like a genius!
It was never supposed to be a song. He performed and recorded a lot of his poems. The band subsequently wrote and produced music to accompany the voice of Jim.
They both were great, but I'm sick of seeing their names, or Janice, Hendrix or any others for that matter, how about River Phoenix, didn't mention him, he acts...i mean is famous, must compare him too. lol Jim rocked, Kurt was a drug addict, 70's music was innovative and took everyone making beautiful sounds to make a song, grunge music is a scar and is for the dead beat flunking no name kids of society.
Blah Blah, dont get caught up in the whole forever 27 crap. Just cause they were both great in their times and they died at 27 gives them no connection. It's retarded youth giving into thinking these two related. Jim is exploring wonderful artist and a genius. Kurt is was a depressed genius with a major self esteem and drug issue.
you are a waste of life if you really believe that jim morrisson sucked. you cant even spell his name right. you cant even spell "you're" right. the only one i see here who sucks at anything is you.
xD ya know, ya coulda went along with it to make him feel worse =]
im not gonna lie, morrison is the only last name that i can never remember if theres two doubles in it, which makes me feel like a disgrace since jim is one of my idols but whatcha gonna do...hah. could be worse, his last name could have been something norwegian...now they have some impossible names to spell lol
Great job with this video! LOVE the ending footage w/Jim hitch-hiking. LOVE the tribal footage & how the whole piece comes together as a spiritual dance. I don't think the song actually existed until after Jim's death? The rest of the band put it together as a tribute to him, is that right? Each of the band members are unique & gifted, bringing something special to what makes the band. BTW: Jim's family copped the copyrights & prevented them from performing or getting a new lead singer...
Hi, there is an instrument connected to the organ, which Ray plays like a keyboard - and that's the bass. It was invented around the time the Doors were coming into being a band, so they never hired a bass player.
The hauntings of Morrisons poetry. The hint of Native drumming in the beat, with the Doors classic sound. Very sureal. Awsome song thanks for the post.
Jim fully realized the importance of the shaman's role within the tribal structure as that of a healer - as the shaman/medicine man was often the last resort to many in distress (like now, in America). That is the basic message of 'Ghost Song.'
Awake. Shake dreams from your hair my pretty child, my sweet one. Choose the day and choose the sign of your day the day's divinity First thing you see. A vast radiant beach and cooled jeweled moon Couples naked race down by it's quiet side And we laugh like soft, mad children Smug in the wooly cotton brains of infancy The music and voices are all around us. Choose they croon the Ancient Ones the time has come again choose
