Can anybody tell me how to get this water drop mouse click. If you look at video u'll see when he clicks the mouse the water drop appears so anybody knows where to get it?
@RaZeRuKi: when you restart the VHD is disassociated . All you need to do is go back to disk management and mount the VHD file you earlier again.and voila
is there a max size that you can make it, i made a 100GB one and it didn't work(as mentioned below) then i tried a 10MB one and it worked, i don't understand, i done the same process exactly the same way just a different size, so how can i delete the 100 GB one as it says it cant be deleted as it is open in system then i will try again once its deleted.
I followed your tutorial exactly but once i create my virtual drive and save it on the desktop like you did, the picture of the file is different its just a blank square and it doesn't show up on the screen that i created it on like yours did. Im not sure what i did wrong, any suggestions?
When I create the drive it's giving me an error message:
Windows can't open this file:
File: Moderndrive.vhd (I named it moderndrive)
To open this file, windows needs to know what program you want to use to open it. Windowns can go online to look it up automatically, or you can manually select from a list of programs that are installed on your computer.
That is the window that is popping up, I DO have windows 7, so I don't know what to do, if i go on the web it is telling me to dl xp...
Razor, you right click on disk management then choose create VHD. "create VHD" option might be "grayed out" at first but try again and it should come to live so you can choose it
Yes I Did Basicly Everything On The Video.I Made The VHD letter A.And I did put things into It.And It Dispeared. And I Saved the VHD To My Document Folder. And No It Isn't Showing Up In Disk Management.
Hey Sam.I did what the video say's.everytime i shut down my pc and when i turn it back on.The VHD goes away like it deletes it self?.can you please tell me why.maybe im doing some thing wrong am now sure.
TRevorDaking09, A few questions. 1. After you created the VHD, initialized it and made it a simple volume, were you able to save anything into it? 2. Where did you save the VHD? in my video I saved it on my desktop 2.After it disappears do you see it in your disk management console?(right click on My Computer and choose manage, select disk management). 3.Did you assign it a drive letter when you prompted for one? if so what drive letter.? Let me know and hopefully I can help you.
hey sam .........i'm also facing the same problem ..................i saved my virtual hard drive in my desktop ............and i assinged it wid drive D. and no its not showing me d drive in disk management can u help me ..
Funnybee, Make sure you initialize the disk and also tell it to be a new simple volume. You do both of these by right clicking in on where the drive letter is displayed in disk management and choosing create new simple volume and then initialize( see video again to see if u missed any if these steps ). Let me know how it goes.
This is true. Vista allows you to create virtual hard drives as well using the same procedure. The tutorial is for those that aren't familiar with it or upgrading from Xp to win 7...obviously .
Hi dc2la, so you are able to create the virtual hardrive and save it to ur desktop but it's a black icon? If so just proceed to tell it to be a new volume and then initialize disk and see if it will let you.
Hi. Just a question. I am out of physical hard disk space and I need a 'Virtual hard disk" Will this function like one? Or will it take space to create the file? (I mean like 10mb 4 a 10mb drive)
Hi Mr Jackanthony, Your VHD will take space from your Physical Hard Drive
Your virtual hard drive exists just like any other file on your physical hard drive and will therefore get its space from the physical hard drive. If you are running out of space on your physical hard drive a virtual hard drive will not provide additional space but only take away from y our physical hard drive.
Example. If you have 10GB on you physical hard drive, you cant create a vhd bigger than 10GB.
i tried to follow ur steps and had an issue. on my desktop, i do not see the hdd icon. there is only a black icon (like its not recognized). can you help me.
@dc2la The icon might just be displaying incorrectly for some reason. The best way to see if it actually worked is to go to my computer and see if you see a new drive assuming you have initialized and told it to be a new volume like in the video. If you see you new drive when you click my computer then I am afraid its just the icon that is being displayed incorrectly but you have correctly created your VHD.
"it says windows can not open this kind of file please select a program to open this kind of file".

@dc2la I am assuming the black icon which is your vhd file shows the name you gave it dot vhd.(somedrivename.vhd).
