  • Imagine doing this while high

  • Daedalus stop building your labyrinth for the sake of us all.

  • I have one of the ones from target, and i fuckin love it!

  • Where do they sell these?! I saw like little toy versions at target!

  • totally just s*** my pants...

  • where on earth can I find one?

  • It's cool, but shit, I don't have the patience for it. lol

  • Make it bigger and add a chair where the ball is, then sell it to theme parks.

    I would ride!

  • ...if the ball were painted florescent???

  • make an app out of it.

  • wow, ive been clickin related vids for like 30 min now, 3 ppl have said "shut up and take my money" im amazed how much ppl feel the need to copy one another.

  • Wow that is really impressive, nice work!!!

  • the evil round version of rubics cube LOL

  • Are there plans available ? I´d like to build it !

  • call em super complicatexus ... thats more accurate man ... ! ^^

  • Outstanding! I know from experience that precision woodworking is very difficult and you have obviously mastered that. I would be very interested in any of the construction that you would be willing to share

  • THIS looks like the nightmare of a lab mouse on LSD!

  • @ superplexusdotcom I have all three available models, was wondering when you were going to start making glass and wooden art plexus for us adult puzzlers.

  • i want i want gimme gimme gimme

  • bet they cheap kid

  • @sOntrOn I feel the same way I have no idea

  • you should try to make one that has water in it and a floating ball...anti gravity for the win...kinda

  • Great stuff, I would simply love to own one of these, made out of brass and polished wood, with a polished redwood ball... as a centre piece for my living room :)

  • I wonder if You have considered the use of a Ball-bearing Base Stand, which would remove the need for a Gimbal, no more gimbal lock or getting in the way of manoeuvring the sphere.

Perhaps 3 ball bearing points that the sphere rests on in the base...

  • @theblackpixieJTHM Yes, I am working on it. The issues are threefold. How to: not scratch the domes, find perfectly spherical domes (these are usually molded rather than blown, which requires large, precise, and polished molds), and prevent the sphere from being pushed out of the base. None of these issues are insurmountable, but the material choices and precision need to be worked out. I'm in the beginning stages of working on such a thing with a museum. Thanks for asking! Regards, Michael

  • @SuperplexusDotCom Just let it float on air ;-D

  • @SuperplexusDotCom You could also use an air pocket, such as an air hockey table keeps the puck afloat

  • @pitcobitch that eliminates the need for bearings, gimbal lock, or fear of scratching the dome

  • nossa nem sei como cheguei aki,eu comecei com um video simples e cheguei nesse....passei por 57 videos pra chegar nesse \o/

  • GIMBLE

  • Ask the company to mass produce these

  • How did I end up on this part of youtube?

  • ohhhh... I want it... probable costs a fortune tho.. =(

  • This is Marble Blast Ultra...... only in REAL LIFE!!! I WANT THIS!! =O

  • Most of that stuff flew over my head but that looks fun

  • Неведома х"/йня .

  • hey check my vid i did level 1 in thhe original in 10 seconds!!!

i got it in video so you can see

  • That thing is pretty much Inception in a nutshell

  • MY NAME IS MICHAEL TO MABYE I'LL MAKE ONE

  • How did you develop that clear mold? I suppose the acrylic was under heat and vacuum?

  • There's one problem...

    How much does it cost?

    £10,000?

  • Comment removed

  • It would be a miraculous if it would be possible to construct a large enough perplexus that one could walk in it. This is understandably not practical, but it's just a thought. I am fascinated by your work!

  • You should make a like a 12 in one with the ball from the normal perplexus so there is like 200 steps buy the way I'm a huge I home made one and I'm going to buy them all ones I get the money.

  • i just want to ask this question. there is a toy in united kingdom exactly like this called addict a ball wich is just the same as the perplexus and people are saying they are stealing from you, are they really stealing or did they get premision to make a copy?

  • i just want to ask this question. there is a toy in united kingdom exactly like this called addict a ball wich is just the same as the perplexus and people are saying they are stealing from you, are they really stealing or did they get premision to make a copy?

  • Michael, I am really flabbergasted. This is beautifully made and it looks so smooth and balanced. The above mentioned 300 hours, well I thought it was way more...what a masterpiece!! Is this the biggest one you made? Are the inner parts made of wood? The Epic 'how to' film shows Escher's Stairs; I wanted to let you know about my hand made marble run around some of Escher's works. You can look it up on youtube. Please let me know your comments on that Michael, I really would be honored!!

  • @simonvanthoff Hello, and congratulations on your marvelous creation! I tried to leave a lengthy response on your YouTube page, but it did not work. Perhaps 30 minutes of composing on my iPad, then poof! It was gone. In essence, I wanted to tell you how enjoyable and clever your Escher piece is. The sounds are very soothing to me and aesthetically it is very strong. One of the things most charming about it is the color palette, which reminds me of the circus, old time fairs, turn of ...

  • CONTINUATION OF MY PREVIOUS COMMENT>>> turn of the century tin contraptions, and of course, Escher's artwork. Also, it was a double pleasure to see your videos as an accomplish pianist. Quite wonderful. Please keep making music and sculpture! Regards, Michael

  • I WANT

  • You have a device that fun in your hands and yet you make a so boring video where you talk about shit

  • I just play Super Mario

  • That is amazing. I remember playing a smaller version of the same thing as a kid - am I right that you designed those, too?

  • now this is talent, sir i would rather see u on talent shows rather then kids just crying about on shows

  • I want to buy one..

  • It's an amazing and wonderful creation. Thank you so much for making this thing!

  • Beautiful piece of work.

  • how did boingboing miss this?

  • tbh, i've added this to my fav and "Like" the first 2 secs of watching this

  • Back on Gallifrey we used to play with those as toddlers, in fact we weren't limited to one single timeline path for the ball! Ah I remember the triple time alignment where they all turned ninety degrees and were back in full synchrony!

  • This is awesome.

  • labyrinth on mutha-fuckin steroids

  • Seems like something Dr. Manhattan would make.

  • You could skip the design time and just produce copies of the first device, I guess a lot of people would buy it.

  • Anyone know what this is? Class? Anyone? Anyone? Anyone seen this before? A three-dimensional gimble.

  • That would take more patience than I will ever have.

  • Isn't that the thing Dr. Manhattan had on Mars in the Watchmen?

  • that is the earth, and we're that one little ball trying to find the answer to life

  • i would shit myself if this was the final level in super monkey ball 3D

  • SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY

  • shut up and take my money

  • Wonderful work. I have one question: Is the outer sphere shell made of plastic or glass?

  • Shut up and take my money!

  • SUPERPLEX FROM THE TOP ROPE!

  • I have a plastic version on this... its nothing new

  • But will it blend?

  • Gimble.

  • Do you get an Achievement if you finish it?

  • oh my

  • I bet that guy has a kid who sees that thing and immediately runs to play with it and that guy yells "NO! first, you must understand the physics"

  • This is your life, and it's ending one minute at a time

  • Sick stuff!!

  • So the perplexus game for kids was based off of this?

  • Amazing craftsmanship... I just wish I could see you play it! :(

  • Oh sorry were you explaining something shit and very complicated

  • Yawn

  • oh yeah americans always have to make something bigger dont they we were ok with the decent sized addict a ball and then they bring this WOODEN not plastic and colourful which i like (no returning bad language comments please)

  • when i get done playing this and i look at my screen i feel like i could tilt the words back by moving my moniter XD

  • Amazing piece of work, I love it! Amazing craftsmanship, great talent. If was able to make something like this I would never be able to bring myself to sell it, even if it was for a commission I think I'd have to say I misplaced it. :)

  • That is cool.........what is it?

  • you should do orders for these on your website, i know i would buy one if the price was right =]

  • @darkorbitfanatic Thank you for your comment. I plan on this in the near future. The one you see here has so much hand work that the cost was quite high (200 hours of physical work and 100 hours of design time). I recently purchased a CNC router and am designing pieces that will need less detailed hand work, though the sculptures will be just as elaborate. I'll still do custom artwork that will need lots of hand work, but reproducible pieces will amortize design time and reduce labor costs. -M

  • @darkorbitfanatic i looked it up, 30000 bucks!!!

  • @frnkrizo Haha, very funny. This video was made upon request to explain the work for a collector. It would be fun to make a video of just playing the darn thing. I don't have it any more. Plus, if I did not fall off, the video still would be about an hour long :-) Yep, it takes at least that long to get through it if played perfectly. Regards, Michael McGinnis

  • Wow, quite amazing! I would love to see a video of you designing/making one.

I bought a Perplexus and very much enjoyed it. This Superplexus is beautiful and looks like great fun!

  • Yeah, I'm at the last level...Almost there!...*Pling* Awww! Now I have to start over =(

  • @mak2sta

I'm a sculpture-design instructor. I understand how a little education may broaden one's perspective. My artwork is meant to serve many purposes, from being a mind-broadening tool for people with spatial needs, to providing kinesthetic involvement, building dexterity. I make them very complex, invoking intrigue in the viewer. It is a bonus that they bring joy to many. Few works of art are meant to be touched. These are interactive, aesthetically complex, and inviting to all ages.

  • @SuperplexusDotCom first of all thanx for the explenation haven't really given much thought to it!and i didn't know that you, yourself make these things! now looking at it again it is for sure an art work... it's a complex stracture that can't be made by anyone! i don't know if it can provide kinesthetic involvement but i think u know better!so thanx for explaning and forgive me for my probably bad english cause my mother language is Greek!

  • @SuperplexusDotCom Well said, it is a work of art.

  • Where do you buy it

  • This is so cool! ...now if only I had some disposable income! :)

  • Do you mind me asking what the private commissioner paid for this awesome piece?

  • Hello Ssmalfry-

I do not detail any transaction information about private commissions. However, feel free to email me directly with pricing inquiries. I can be reached through my website at superplexus (youtube doesn't allow urls in posts, so I'll leave out the rest of the address, which you can guess). Regards, Michael
