Snakes also loose certain vitamins when being frozen all the time, and yes they do sell vitamin supplements to make up for that but the bottom line is its an optional thing so would people just get over it! @askandaa67 if you dont want to feed it live rodents you can also go to your pet store and get frozen mice instead of live. Its atually a better way to feed your snake so that when the corn snake is constricting the rodent it wont be able to bite the skin of the snake. Hope this helped you.
no offence but a healthy snake will eat every 5-7 days i have had a corn snake sence i was 8 and every breeder i have talked to said they should eat every 5-7 days look up an episode called snake bytes bad addvise and the breeder will tell the top 5 or 10 (cant remember) bad addvise he has heard over the years

Dumbass your supposed to get a feed box because if you feed it in it's normal tank it will think your hand is food and it will be difficult to pick it up all you need is a plastic container so when your going to feed it you take it out of it's normal tank and put it in the plastic container and give it it's food

@twowheelworld my pet store does, there is nothing wrong with live food under the right circumstances. just because it may be grusome or "nasty" to watch does not mean its not natural, the only thing that could go wrong is that the mouse fights back and that almost never happens. you just need to make sure the snake is alert and healthy.

Ahhh! This is really irritating me. Okay, first of all, feed your snake one mouse once a week. Feeding it two mice at a time is called "power feeding" and will shorten the life of your snake, and cause health issues. Second, take your snake out of it's enclosure to feed it. If you don't, it will associate sticking your hand in it's terrarium with food, then see your hand and think "Hey, food! :D *nom*".

it runs too high of a risk of the live feeder to fight back and potentionaly harm your snake. you should have a clear enclosed space where you can keep an eye on both animals and assist if needed.

First it bothered me about feeding live animals to snakes, but it is nature and nurture-it is like this in nature, and it is our job to nurture our pets.
I try to think of it as a documentary on wild animals and such, and it bothers me much less.
I am not a vegetarian, and neither are snakes. It wouldn't be fair to complain about how we feed snakes when we eat animal products like eggs, meat, poultry, and dairy and or wear leather or suede.
Not a nice video. You should be educating people. Frozen food is better than live, and more humane. Not only is it better for the animal that is the food but, it is also better for the snake.

ok couple of fails, 1st of all.. if the snakes accepts dead prey, feed it dead prey.. less chance of the snake damaging etc etc. 2nd of all 2 mice? NEVER feed 2 prey! ONE fitting prey is the way to go. And feeding On rough bedding isn't that smart.. if they swallow the substrate the snake could die if it can't pass out the natural way. that's why i use coconut bedding, its digestible and small enough to pass through.
@Crazy4Cavies i would not move a corn snake to its wooden vivarium untill its at least 2 to 2 and half feet long and even then place a few hides , plastic leaves,apsen substrate, plently of places for it to make a quick hide should it feel scared, this will help it be more secure to its enviroment

No it's not better to feed them live. More bacteria and higher chance of parasites with live food. Also there is a real possibility of a live mouse injuring a snake. A mouse bite has been known to kill a snake.

it runs too high of a risk of the live feeder to fight back and potentionaly harm your snake. you should have a clear enclosed space where you can keep an eye on both animals and assist if needed.

First it bothered me about feeding live animals to snakes, but it is nature and nurture-it is like this in nature, and it is our job to nurture our pets.
I try to think of it as a documentary on wild animals and such, and it bothers me much less.
I am not a vegetarian, and neither are snakes. It wouldn't be fair to complain about how we feed snakes when we eat animal products like eggs, meat, poultry, and dairy and or wear leather or suede.
Snakes are cool. They gotta eat too.

i always put myself in their shoes i mean like you think its bad ass to feed em live food? so many people go around boasting like they're the shit cause they do it, and even if you dont thats still messed. they're not in their natural habitat, therefore they dont need to hunt live animals. your snake wont be complaining if you give it a dead mouse.

@grimetyme2k8 The difference is these snakes aren't in there natural habitat. as an owner i choose the more humane feeding practice. frozen. those mice can sense fear, and definitely feel pain. no animal deserves to go out like that.

I have gotten feeder mice from petco a bunch of times, they say they dont have them for feeders but they were the same, might cost alittle more like 2 or 3 dollars per mouse...I feel my 3 snakes live, I feel that its better for them and lets them release some aggression and use there muscles in a natural way...rather then biting me lol

ok couple of fails, 1st of all.. if the snakes accepts dead prey, feed it dead prey.. less chance of the snake damaging etc etc. 2nd of all 2 mice? NEVER feed 2 prey! ONE fitting prey is the way to go. And feeding On rough bedding isn't that smart.. if they swallow the substrate the snake could die if it can't pass out the natural way. that's why i use coconut bedding, its digestible and small enough to pass through.

@Crazy4Cavies i would not move a corn snake to its wooden vivarium untill its at least 2 to 2 and half feet long and even then place a few hides , plastic leaves,apsen substrate, plently of places for it to make a quick hide should it feel scared, this will help it be more secure to its enviroment

NEVER feed your snake live food. she will relate movement with food and it will increase your chances of getting bit. also as the snake gets bigger the food gets bigger and it could pottentially harm your snake.
and there's parasites in live mice.
Comparing a captive breed snake to a wild snake is as stupid as comparing a house chihuahua to a wolf.
Captive breed live longer and healthier and can't care for themselves.
They depend on you.

No it's not better to feed them live. More bacteria and higher chance of parasites with live food. Also there is a real possibility of a live mouse injuring a snake. A mouse bite has been known to kill a snake.
