Artistic european movies are always remade as a dumbed down more commercialy viable product. You also remake load of japanese films.. and you remake loads of british comedies and gameshows... In my opinion, Michael Madsen has a failed career as an actor.

I find him to have a great on-screen presence and he has talent to back up his coolness. He deserves to receive more recognition and better roles in things.

quentin tarantino is a sick fuck. Only he would find a scene like this to be amusing. All this is is shock factor and twisted humor. People think he is a genius director for scenes like this but there isn't much to this its just sick. I usually love creepy movies like this with fucked up characters but this movie was a joke. same with inglorious basterds. He takes fucked up violence (like carving swastikas into forheads) to another level and for some reason people think its great movie making.

However, this movie and this scene in particular is excellent filmmaking, this torture is a significant part of the plot and is crucial in developing mr Blondes character. Also listen to some of the dialogue in this movie and then tell me Tarintino isnt a great filmmaker

While GoodFellas doesn't romanticise life in the Mafia like The Godfather does, its considerably warmer to watch than this. Secondly, this isn't about the mafia, it's just about general mob activity. There are no voice-overs in RD, and it also has a non-linear plot. This has a Tarantino feel to it, half of it is satire, and it's too upfront and irreverent to be compared to 'Fellas.
