Great Area and a nice ride. I had 2 BMW. The first F650 and the 2nd F650GS. With both of them i rode a bit dirtroads til i crashed one ( expensive experience ). To me it was not that easy to hold a 200Kg bike on the track. Keep on going and have fun. Thx for sharing it
You might consider a smaller wind shield and removing/swinging your mirrors around. It is easy to get caught up in the moment and just over stretch yourself, especially at low speeds on slopes...
I've done a bunch of single-track on my '07 650GS - some scary moments, but nothing to bake a loaf over :)
this is a great touring off road bike and can handle more technical terrain if you push it but remember it is a BMW not a dirt bike and dropping it without protective accessories means big bucks. So why I LOVE this bike is that I can tackle any forestry roads and most ATV tracks but not single tracks. I wouldn't even think about single tracking this bike. Fantastic on the highway and again opens the door to thousands of unpaved roads too! I say go for it!~
In one year i am getting my car and motorcycle licence. my dad is thinking of getting this bike for him now. and when i can he will let me have this bike. i sat on this at the motorcycle show in the city and loved the feel, it seemed really responsive in the way my weight was carried. anyway is there anything i should look at before i say yes to my dad about this.... (i cant stand the kawasaki dual sport btw). and how do you think this is in the woods compared to a Dirt bike (im not jumping!)
oh yes, i forgot, i saw in the beginning of the film that you're ABS is still on. My recommendation for going offroad with your bike...turn of your ABS, you won't need it on enduro. If you have to make an emegancy brake, you'll be better of with blocking rear brake and softly using the front brake and lay your weight on the back of the bike ;)
you did a great job back there, but i would recommend like for the woods in the beginning to take offroad tires. I've got TKC Karoo 2 tires on my BMW F 650 GS (twin) and it really does the job for mud and looser undergrounds ;)
@tomalf123 yep not so much a beginner anymore and we are on our 26 day cross country trip as i type this. Been gone for 19 days and have done some off pavement riding too. The bike is great and you will not regret buying one of you do! Although I would not call this GS a touring bike it has done a great job and can handle anything!
bought it from Xploremoto....supposed to be an Al Jesse shield but I think it is the Euro Cee Bailey shield. I was told Jesse had it modified via CB to fit the GS bikes specifically. Still it appears to be a stock CB. Great shield but I have the BMW large hand guards and on full lock they do touch the shield. Has not affected the handling or interfere with my riding though.
Ahh, right next to the border. I might be able to make it up to that neck of the woods someday. ;-D

@yrekamailbox sure Jesse guards made by the same guy who make Jesse Luggage. Can be found through Xplorermoto.

It is so sad that you would go so far out of your way to break the law. Stupid people like you get trails closed for all of us.
Your Arrogance does not befit your Ignorance.

@ChaplainC you are kidding me right? We are allowed to ride on these trails. You are lucky I do not delete your arrogant and ignorant statement.
