Being a Punisher reader, I had some pretty high hopes when I learned about this game. I saw a few screenshots and started salivating at the idea of a Barracuda vs. the Russian deathmatch. And I love FPS games as much as the next guy. But now I'm not sure it's all it's cracked up to be.

@BloodyBay Now, my money says that all the combatants are pretty much generic in ability. Remember Rise of the Triad? I think that system would work for a Punisher FPS. Silver Sable? Agile but fragile and great at close quarters. Barracuda? Huge, slow, great with heavy weapons, soaks up gunfire like a sponge. And so on.

But if someone who actually played The Punisher: No Mercy would tell me I'm wrong, I wouldn't object.

This game gets a 7.5/10 from me, it's worth the $10. After months of not playing it I have found the fun in it again lol. It took a while to appreciate it but multiplayer matches with 1v1 or a full game (4v4) is very fun, people barely play this online anymore.

I don't get it when they make a multiplyaer with stories and characters like the punisher (or Max Payne). This is a violation of canon. In 'no mercy' there could be regular soldiers in trendy environmental suits and it wouldn't bring any difference. The Punisher is a solo character and everything is concentrated on him. You can't just make a kill 'em all game without specific elements of original style. Here's a good formula:

The Punisher for PS2 from THQ is arguably the best solo-play game based on a comic book ever. IMO, it is.

Played the demo to this--no joke--everyone with mics on were just running around saying words like "boring," "stupid," "lame," and "I" followed by "quit" because it was. This wasn't once in a while, this was a constant for the 10 minutes I played.

Im not sticking up for this game but if you wanna know about characters in marvel games that you've never heard about you should go to the Marvel website. They have detailed bios on just about every single hero, villain, team, even a "People who are dead but arent anymore" category.

I follow Ennis' Punisher books too, so I knew all the characters in this game except for maybe Gino the Goon. Why is there a Jigsaw Impostor instead of Jigsaw himself? Where's Kate O'Brien? Where's Pittsy? Where's the Russian?

I really like this game, I just started playing for the first time in a couple months and they added a patch that fixed the laginess and adds a new playable character. I think this game was reviewed way too harshly. It's a 10 dollar downloadable game and if you're into old school arena shooters, it's a fresh take on the genre and can be a lot of mindless fun.
