I could also attribute that if it were indeed done on a polysynth, that I can count the Yamaha DX7 and the Sequential Circuits Prophet 5 as candidates.
The three notes that come in as the phrase "HOME VIDEO INC." slides out from underneath the Worldvision name is the kind of tritone that I like to refer to as the "scary logo interval" or "scary logo chord" (as opposed to the real meaning of tritone in musicology meaning "devil's interval" or "devil's chord"), because this kind of tritone (and variations thereof) is used on other "scary" logos such as the Screen Gems "S from Hell" and the Viacom "V of Doom."
The last variation of the Home Video logo, seen in 1994-1995, had an amended Spelling Entertainment byline to include "A Blockbuster Entertainment Company" (but there is no Blockbuster ticket logo, as opposed to the TV version).
Also: a prototype version of the 1990 version cuts to the TV logo on the 1991 VHS print of the 1987 TV movie version of "Hands of a Stranger."
Ya know, this sounds weird but after owning a bunch of tapes with this logo, it was recently that I noticed the disclaimer on the bottom of the screen! XD
I wonder if people say the jingle is 5 notes long because the "sixth" note is actually just the conclusion of the fifth one (after the first three following the longer WHOOSH). So I'd think the TV version of this jingle is just 2 notes, letting up on the 2nd to give the impression of there being a third note.
Haha. Yeah. It was always from one of those independent shops owned by a Korean. The video tapes were behind the counter in a black case and you had to return them in two days!
i think alot of kids got scared because of the noise and the dark images and the way they moved, like something was coming at you. but i like watching these because of nostalgia :P
@LogicSmash ok sorry it was from 1988 I saw this logo in 1998 for tv when Spelling owned the company and Taft the company before Spelling bought Worldvision Enterprises owned H-B Studios untill Turner bourgt it and then it change to Cartoon Network Studios. Taft Brodcasting when into Great American Brodcasting just before HB whent to Turner and Worldvision to Spelling.

I want to tell you all that this is an arrangement of the "Superstar Fanfare" suite composed by Keith Mansfield (KPM Library 1260).

This jingle, on whatever synthesizer used, seems to recall the work of Eric Siday (the Screen Gems "S from Hell," CBS In Color, and NET).

History of the Worldvision 1985-94 Home Video logo:
1985-1987: With "A TAFT COMPANY" byline, followed by small disclaimer.
1988-1989: As above w/o preceding Taft byline.
1990: With Spelling Entertainment byline and larger disclaimer text.
1991-1994: As above w/ "TM" symbol below globe logo.

And then, to complete the list:
1999: The logo not existing at all, a result of them unfortunately going out of business...

To sum my view up further: it's about the aftertouch effect on keyboards.

Maybe because all of the music and sound FX were done on an antiquated synthesizer like a Moog.
