in real life the hittites were no more than twice the size if not the same size as the egyptians but the 20,000 egyptians like to exaggerate the victory saying the hittites had an army of 5 million infantry and 1 mllion horses and 314 kings and enoguh archers to block out the sun.

a horse pulling a chariot isn't going to willingly charge into an enemy phalanx.

chariots were used mainly as mobile archer platforms to harass enemy lines.

The Egyptians of the Kadesh period were not really "fully" Semitized.(the Hyksos dynasty was Semitic).

Also The Hittites of Kadesh themselves were not the same as the original IndoEuropean Hitttes either (after mutting around with Hurrians and Semites). Maybe you can use that as an excuse for their lacluster preformance :)

Finally, The Semites were fighting on both sides of the conflict as slaves and foot soldiers. After Kadesh the Semitic states gained independence

Neither side gained total victory. Although Ramesses did in theory won the battle, he could not secure the victory due to his battlefield losses! But sill it was a great personal triumph for the pharaoh, because he escaped from a very well planned trap.

Egypt did win the battle, but it was a pyrrhic victory, because Ramesses' army suffered heavy casualties to the Hittite ambush, so even if he was the battlefield victorious he had to prudently gather the remnants of his army and retreat back to Egypt.

They were lured into a trap, but then they made the Hittites run, and the hittite king had to send reinforcements, and even these were beaten. then the hittites retreated back into kadesh, so the egyptians won the battle. the egyptians didn't have enough men to capture kadesh, so they made an informal peace treaty with the hittites and went back to egypt.

in this war to egyptian was on capturing the city but based on the casaulty and mission accomplishment egyptian had fail to capture kadesh and lost many men in the battle and hittite still have it. so they lost still.

Egypt won in the battlefield, but failed to capture kadesh, so it was a tactical pyrrhic victory (field victory), a strategic defeat because they didn't capture kadesh and returned home empty handed. It's like playing a game were you defeat an army but you lose tto many men to capture the city you ere going to seige, so you have to go back to your base and rebuild your army for a next invasion.

And the war didn't stop here Ramesses returned later and conquered kadesh and sevral other cities to the north. However every time the egyptian army returned to egypt the hittites would attack the newly conqured cities and Ramesses had to return to conquer them again, thats why the treaty was made to end an inconclusive war that was wasting the treasury of both empires. they also did this so they could concentrate on their new enemies the assyrians to the hitites and the lybians to the egyptians

The Hittites fled the battlefield so yes they technically lost the battle but it was a draw and the Hittites kept Kadesh.

They would later succomb to the Sea People whereas the Egyptians fended them off.

ummm hittite was conquered by assyrian and greek combine force. so it wouldnt be fair to competite with egypt that only faced the enemy from one side and still been defeated many time more than hittite and cause the fallen of 19th dynasty in 1200 while hittite hold their own against the pressure from both side until 1180bc. yes 20th dynasty might defended their solve from greek and garthegean but that also cause the totally collepse of egypt soon after(20th dynasty only last lon 70 years).

Hittites were defeated by the Sea people, while Egypt hold it's own against them, Egyptians were defeated by the Persians almost 1000 years later but gained their freedom back while they were ruled by the Ptolemies, but the egyptian culture remained until the days of muslim.

but actually hittite may won the war but their economy was weaker than egypt. it just metter of time for egypt to take back what's left in the battlefield. hittie hold the advantage on tactics but egyptian had the entire stratage. which fight long hittite would have more disadvantage. so a pease treaty is the worst choice they have with rameses. simply the situation was like united state and soviet union on the table game. soviet will lose if they go to a long term war with worthy country.

The battle was unresolved. After a few days of fighting both sides came together and called a truce. In terms of the treaty the Hittites kept Kadash so I suppose they came off better.

Also chariots of Hittites had 3 occupants. Having just one (the driver) like in the video would have been quite suicidal...
