Someday girl, I don't know when, we're gonna get to that place that we really wanna go and we'll walk in the sun.. But till then, tramps like us, baby, we were born to run!
It might not seem very appropriate to some, but for me, I'll sing these lyrics to my wife at our wedding.
Whenever I feel blue, sad, depressed, suicidal, etc. I always remember theres a jersey shore out there, and that Clarence Clemons will always have this unbelievable solo. Then I say, What was bothering me again?
@mascardomikhail Of course it wasn't Lady Gaga is about being crazy and different, this song is about being downtrodden, how it is to love and how to survive the bitterness of life.
If you like this type of music be sure and check out a new & upcoming artist, "Daze", just type "WhoisDaze" in the search box,he has some really good songs that are moving up fast. I especially like "this is love". Thx guys, tc
Such a powerfull song loved it first time i heard it way back and always sounds good now, also not tarted up when done live still powerfull probably my most favourite song ever
Heard this live at Wembley - blew my mind. Was exactly as it sounded here. Exceeded all expectations. Love the bit where he shouts '1,2,3,4' and counts in the last section of the song.
"I wanna die with you Wendy on the streets tonight in an everlasting kiss..."
Some of the greatest lyrics ever written.
Each time I listen to this, I'm thoroughly convinced that this is the absolute greatest song ever recorded of all-time. Lyrically, musically, and production-wise, it is an unparalleled masterpiece.
I love love this song. When my grandson was born they lived with me for the first 8 monthes of his life. Every morning when his mommy was fixing him a bottle I would turn this song on and dance with him. He would just smile and look at me ..its a wonderful memory. That grandson is 12 as of last month. They groww up so fast. He likes Bruce by the way. I LOVE Bruce! He rocks. Saw him in concert in Munich!
This song reminds me of my highschool sweetheart and I ..we were 17 and in love, inseperable..we were going to buy a junkie car and drive to down to Florida so we could frolic in the water and put our feet in the sand. We saved 70.00. We talked about it for a week, seriously, we never did go..but in our minds we did!
We started our run over 43 years ago! And still in love! But more important were really friends and love each other more than in the beginning? How it happen I do not know, But I think she knew I was a better person than I knew I could be if she just have me enough time to see love is the answer! So let it be.
@nbmp80 I think the problem with Gaga , and that song is that she agressively wants to force society to accept homosexuality, and made it a trend, and cause that lots of teenagers think they're gay, even when they're not mature enough to tell that. I think she makes more harm to gays than benefit, cause lots of people will hate gays more cause of Gaga provocative attitude.
@TheHegyihod listen i was gay before lady gaga, actually since i was very very little... in what song or video does she promotes homosexuality? or says be gay? the only thing she encourages is to be yourself and rejoice in ur identity no matter gay, straight or bi, lesbian, transgender life... cuz we were BORN THIS WAY!! u have to pay attention to her lyrics, the only thing she promotes is acceptance, and love.....
They've been listening to this song for 35 years, and I guarantee you - they'll be listening to this one 35 years from now when Lady Gaga is just a footnote. Greatness does endure.
@JRod527763 Somehow people forgot how to agree on things. He has liberal views but by todays standards 1975 Bruce would be considered more republican, We live in strange times
@jtrobison Wait. I was talking about politics? LOL! I was just referencing how running away with someone used to be a rebel attitude and now we have modern-day rap songs that are practically traumatizing old people. xD
Then again, I suppose that could tie into what you're saying. After all, ideas that were new and radical about 30 years ago (most of which seemed liberal) seem old-fashioned now.
Funny you mention that though. I was just studying John F. Kennedy, and he seems to be the same way.
@JRod527763 i hear that, but i mean as time goes on people can only take so much deception so the attitude got more crude and the messege was more angry than this....still love bruce forever though
Not ironically, this is a great song to run to. It's like Bruce is re-energizing me with his soul and when the "whoah-oh-oh's" come in at the end you feel like you are on top of the world :)
Just launched a new app for the iPhone/iPad/iPod called, RockHead. This song's in it along with other classics. It's a guess-the-next-lyric, funny, quirky, memory maze game. Pls check it out! (Just search RockHead on the app store, can't seem to post a link here). Thanks!
This song was the anthem for my entire generation. "tramps like us, baby we were born to run". Appealed to the baddass in all of us! Those just getting to know Springsteen because of the death of the "Big Man", welcome! The music is timeless, and all of it is here on Youtube for your enjoyment. Try my other personal favorite, also from the Born to run album. It's called Thunder Road.
I do feel blessed to have been born to be a part of that generation. Cause "Baby I was born to run"!!!
Definitely, my Favourite Song by Mr. Springsteen. This is a Timeless Rock and Roll Classic.
