I can never drink the Korean alcohol beverage known as SOJU. Since the alcohol level is really high , i can never stomach it. Generally i would normally prefer the higher end Japanese alcohol known as Sake ` which is about 11 - 15 % Alcohol ). Sake` is much fruitier in taste and fragrance.
The Korean Soju is similar to the Japanese Shochu , in which the ALCOHOL content is about 15 - 25 % , but i reckon that the Korean Soju drink is much more smellier ? than the Japanese Shochu or Sake `.
@lhwang78 Can get a lot higher. It also has more burn that any Vodka or Tequila rubbish you will ever meet. The stuff they are drinking is the common $1.50 street garabge sold at every corner store & vending machine in Korea, 18.5%. ...white guy sitting in a restaurant drinking Soju from the bottle like its soft drink with his Kimchi, apparently an awesome spectacle for the Koreans there that day :P

Korean university students annually drink a bowl of Soju in front of Japs police officer(korea was japanese colony in 1910-1945) and vimit it to japanese. that was originated such an independence movement .
