An Italian organization has issued complaints regarding the Piazza del Campo-based kart track in Gran Turismo 5.

According to The Consortium for the Protection of the Palio, Sony does not have their permission to use the flags of the Contrade -- districts or wards in an Italian city -- in the track. Piazza del Campo is famous for the Palio di Sienna horse race which is held along the edges of the piazza.

Here's what Consortium CEO Anna Carli had to say in an interview with Corriere.it:

You can not use images of Contrade, in this case the flags, without authorization. Given the relevance of the game with no history and references to our party, in particular with the use of images of flags of the contrade, we would not authorize use.

Having raced 2 stroke karts for a couple of years, it's one aspect of racing that games NEVER get right. I really hope I'm wrong but I fully expect this part of the game to be hopeless. In this vid the physics look completely wrong. 2:10 - that just doesn't happen in karts. If you start sliding like that, you spin straight away if you don't catch it immediately. Steering wheel needs to turn way more than in the vid too imho. Still think it will be the best racing game ever - just not the karts.

@exoticarfan that's all very well, but they got the movement of the drivers body wrong. notice that when you turn left in a car, you lean to the right. in this it leans to the right when hes turning right. and im no physicist, but turning at 90mph he must be pulling 2+g, so it would be very difficult for him to keep leaning to the right.

@AlbertKuntz in go-karting you have to force yourself to lean right when turning right it's so you keep the grip on the inside wheels of the kart... it's common sense and keeps you on the track.. WELL DONE GT5 for getting it CORRECT!

@findellt BULLLL shit, im a real life karter and because the karts dont have a dif, they have to lift the inside wheel and if you lean inwards, you will bog the kart down and generally fail :)

I LOVE how they put in go karts (tag karts)..but I wish they had shifter karts..like 80cc, 125cc, and 250cc :D...I seriously don't think I'll be able to wait 2 months for this game! You can create your own freakin track!

@JCRocky5 seems to only affect go kart racing, because I saw someone on the gamescom demo on nürburgring pushing another car into the green. also he himself hit the grass on the sides pretty often... force feedback is hard to get used to I guess, because I lost the race after being pro on GT4... it's fun as hell though

@manciuxl1 lets see. over 1000 confirmed cars (hasn't been done before), FULL 1080 HD Graphics (hasn't been done before), All cars detailed inside AND out (hasnt been done before)... Read the GT5 website. the game is also in 3d using the PSeye which allows you to move your head to look around the vehicles... So now you know why there is so much hype.
