@sanelo1 depends, USSTRATCOM would identify the threat, and then try to choose the most logical path, the problem is you never know what the threat is until after the fact in the case of terrorism. But, with 9/11 air force 1 made circles in the gulf of mexico, and an aircraft carrier as well as elements of TANG were scrambled to seal off the airspace as best they could. Oh and by the way, that plane that never made it to the whitehouse......yea ATA got it im pretty sure.

The reason being is that if one were to have mechanical problems at a location or in the air, the planes will land and the president can get on the other and continue the journey. It has happened before where Air Force One had problems on the ground somewhere and the president simply boarded the other. It would not look good if the president got stuck on the ground due to plane failure in a foreign country. It is a flying White House.
