@amigdale - Thanks for commenting. You probably got your numbers mixed up and meant 1:25. That clip is from the film "The Color of Pomegranates" (a.k.a. "Sayat-Nova"), a 1969 Soviet film directed by Sergei Paradzhanov. I really like the film, but some folks don't like it at all.
hm....i think some one else would have to give me the time I spent on this stuff the first time I saw it even as absuce as it was. I feel most of this was a pretty fair trade the first time however. Hitchcock, Kurasawa, and Dali to name a few. While I agree your editing needs work your subjects are spot on keep it up and I'm sure you will be do well.
Eww. But true. Im a huge fan of Luis Buñuel and Salvador Dalí, that's the only reason i saw this clip d; .. Looking for the hole Un Chien Andalou, so if you know where to find it, please tell (; .
Hi there, love this wee compilation! Brings back memories of film papers I took a university (and of course of some of my favourite movies). What's the name of the short film from which you took that shot of the woman with the knife? I can't remember! Not Un Chien Andalou, the other one. Thanks!
Speaking of "Jeeves and Wooster," can you believe that the actor who plays Bertie Wooster in that series, Hugh Laurie, is the same actor who stars in "House M.D."? If I didn't know better, I'd say they were two different guys! That's talent for you!
Ok,the movies are listed on the right, which is obviously a good thing. But what about the dialogues?Where are they taken from and who is reciting them?
Oh,and btw:where the heck where you able to find the original version of "Que Viva Mexico!"?
If I understand your question correctly, you are asking about the soundtrack. As my video's titles say, the soundtrack is taken from a video by YT member Baby Porridge, and you can go to the video by clicking on the purple title just under the screen.
If you're not familiar with Baby Porridge, don't judge her by that one video. Her others have a lot more thought and effort put into them.
Although I too would've been reluctant to disclose my sources for such movies[I'm most intrigued by your finding "The Color of Pomegranates" and yes,"Que Viva Mexico!"].
I'll just have to settle for the 1979 version,then...
Oh,and the only bits missing from your film to make it a collector's dream are "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari" and "Spring,Summer,Fall,Winter...and Sping".Aside from that,it really was worth
QUOTE: "... it really was worth that 1:15 of my life :D."
I never thought I'd hear anyone say THAT! If I were advertising my video like a movie, that would be my film-critic newspaper quote. It's a nice thing to say. Thanks a lot.
Oy vey,I'm very keen on finding symbolism in any bit of reality around me,or as Woody Allen put it,on reducing everything to cultural stereotypes. The mix of irony, surrealism and sheer randomness in yours really does the trick for me ;).
Plus, compared to some other useless 1:15' I've had in my life, this one is pure gold. You should do a whole bunch of these films, release them as mainstream productions and revolutionize the enitre cinema industry.Or something like that.
Oh, wow, I didn't even read the box to the right. I'm surprised I missed Keaton's The General, and forgot to even mention Citizen Kane, tho I suppose that one was a bit obvious.
Woah, that's a ton of great movies in there. Looks like La Strada, a Hard Day's Night, Un Chien Andalou, Monkey Business, Nosferatu (remake tho, so lame), Rashomon, and mon favorite dans cela est Chungking Express. Fantastic ensemble you got there, sir! Woof!
Idunno. I kinda liked it.

That movie is 'Meshes of the Afternoon' (1943), a short experimental film by Maya Deren (she also plays the woman in the shot).

I quite liked that, didn't get why the clip of that asian model was in there, but hey, whatever works lol

...? i think she fits perfectly... the part of "un chien andalou" of dalí seemed a bit short to me but it's great work...

The Citizen Cane inclusion was the apex of the video.I never understood post-modernism but you have shed some light on the subject.

Hey, love how you included "Rashomon"! The Medium scene was really the best scene in one of the best movies in the world.

I have a question it might sound dumb but: Did he really slit her eye?
wukillalogic 3 years ago
I have it on good authority that the woman's eye was not actually slit. One source says that the cut eye actually belonged to a calf.
That scene is a real eye opener, isn't it? (Sorry, couldn't resist.)
