@buddybleau Alas, we can only hope. Problem is, it's the 21'st freaking century and we still have many backwards people. Good thing I don't live close to any.
You should find out about the lives of the Friars, I bet you don't know that they don't eat unless the community has donated their food. They spend many days fasting...could you do that! That's FAITH! Check it out
Give me proof there is a God (not B.S. from an old book). Furthermore, what evidence do you have that it is "popular" to be an atheist. Atheists are still be spat upon and kicked around by bullying, theocracy-wanting theists.
If these people are Atheists and they don't believe; then why do they feel it neccassary to perform acts of blasphemey? This is not Atheism; this choosing a side--this is a conscious decision. Then they find out after they die that it's not so funny anymore... then they go be with thier god. Let just suppose--for one second--that I know something that you don't. You don't know what I know; so don't do it. You don't know sir. Maybe I am talking to someone who is already dead.
Does recognising the truth include burning witches.
First of all the church was not involved in the burning of witches that was carried out by kings in queens who in there own mind belived they were doing the will of God
There is a complete absence of rational reasoning in this video. Indeed it shows an utter contempt for rational thought. Repeatedly reciting tracts from ancient texts doesn't really get us anywhere: "...Hitchins is not wise because ... Psalms says that the fool hath said in his heart there is not god." That's not an argument, just the friar saying Hitchin's is wrong because Christians say he is wrong.
Franciscanfriars is just supporting his baseless ideas from ancient outdated thinkers (Aristotle) who I might add believed in the existence of not one but many gods, which I dare say is anathema to the general idea of christianity isn't it?
Once again, I can't say there is or isn't a God, or if there is a heaven, but I take comfort that if there is one and I won't get it into it, I won't have to be with such self-righteous zealots like you.
.....So, yes, to claim that the existence of God is only known by faith is also as foolish as denying the nose on your face, since if a person is not able to discern the Creator from his creation, then he will most likely not be able to discern the person to whom the nose belongs. I guess if you won't follow your finger, Brother Freakman, you might try following your nose. To insist on this truth is not being intolerant, like Hitchins, it's being intelligent.
.... Then how can you look at the natural world around you and not deduce the creator's existence. It is said that those who do not have the benefit of reading the book of the Gospels could deduce the existence of God from reading the book of creation. Saint Thomas More said that all of creation is an outstretched finger pointing to the existence of God.....
.... When I say that to deny God's existence is as foolish as denying the nose on your face is true. Although the existence of God is not known directly like seeing your nose, yet his existence is known and discerned by his effects. For example, when you go to the art museum you do not look at the work of art such as a painting or a sculpture without also recognizing the existence of the painter or the sculptor who produced the art. That is as obvious as the nose on your face is it not?....
.....Aristotle taught that the Prime Mover was not moved or acted upon by any other power, but was the cause or source of all other movement. He also deduced that this supreme being was a necessary being and not a contingent being. Also that this being had unity or oneness, not composed of parts, and that it was an eternal being. That is pretty good considering that he lived without ever hearing the gospel or having had faith.....
DEAR TVFREAKMAN, May I first say that you might be better off being a REASON FREAK, rather than a TV freak. Your claim that "the belief in God is and always will be a belief only rooted in faith" does not hold water in that Aristotle, a pagan, was able to deduce the existence of God by the use of reason alone without the benefit of any faith. He called God the Prime Mover, but whatever name you want to call the supreme being, if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it is a duck.....
The belief in God was and always will be a belief only rooted in faith.
Elias's opinion that to deny the existence of God is to deny the nose on your face is ludicrious. you can see the nose on your face in the mirror you can't see God.
If you want to believe in God, fine, but don't say that to not believe in him you're denying the obvious, if so then you are just as intolerant and narrowminded as Hitchins
I personally found enought proof in the existence of GOD to become a believer.
All I can say is when things hit rock bottom and there is no other way out, turn to Jesus and he will come in your rescue. After all he gave you your free will and he will not take that away from you, if you do not ask you do not get. Or of course, if someone else asks in your behalf. Try it.
Dear Benno, Your statement shows that your ignorance in theology and science is superseded by your ignorance of history. The Dark Age was not dark and the Enlightenment was not enlightening. You will find that there was more freedom in the Dark Ages then there was in the Enlightenment and in our times mainly because the people of the Middle Ages recognized and followed the truth whether natural or revealed.
Does recognising the truth include burning witches and doing everything possible to halt the investigation of science such as jailing Galileo. I think you are delusional.
Frist of all it was not the church who burned witches it was the civil athorities of that time the kings and queens who belived they were doing the will of god
Seconed of all the church has all ways aproved of science in fact it was the church who came up with scientific method the reason Galileo was put in house arrest was not because his theory of heliocentrism but because called the pope a fool in a book, becase the pope did not alow Galileo to teach his argument as more then a theory
Those civil authorities used your dear "holy" book as proof and the church backed them up on this. Also, doesn't it say something about the type of government the church would impose if the would chuck someone in jail for calling an authority figure "a fool".
Excellent! "If today you hear His voice, Harden not your hearts." Thank you for telling the Truth and challenging these poor people who choose to clothe themselves in darkness.
thank you for this video

Awed by the beauty of your virginity
and the exceeding radiance of your purity,
Garbrel stood amazed,
What praise may I offer you
that is worthy of your beauty?
By what name shall I call you
I am lost and bewildered,
But I shall greet you as I was commanded
Hail,"O, FULL OF GRACE'
