FGM comes from a deep and brutal hatred of women's capacity for sexual pleasure, and an insulting and false denial of their capacity for faithfulness. Can't people see the tenderness and vulnerability of the vulva?

If it is true that about 1% of African women who undergo FGM die from it -- mainly because of appallingly unsanitary conditions -- we have an ongoing female holocaust right under our noses.

I feel like that when I hear Americans use the word Un-circumcised instead of natural to perpetuate the lie of harvesting the male foreskin for makeup products and other crap. This woman is trivialising male genital cutting by implying that male circumcision has no relationship with female genital mutilation. BOTH are related, since ethical principles embrace both genders equally!

Both male and female children should not be subjected to unnecessary surgery without their consent. Milder froms of FGM are anatomically equivalent to male circumcision, yet ALL forms of FGM are banned in western nations.

Shouldn't the genitals of both genders be respected equally?

Thank you for speaking out and reminding us how commonly this atrocity is done to girls. It's very hard to get world leaders to pay attention to this issue and to take children's rights seriously.

FGM is illegal for 94% of the world's people. No country protects boys.

Both boys and girls are cut by coercion and force. Hundreds of boys and girls die every year. Thousands end up in the hospital.

Boys are 6 times as likely to be missing part of their genitals. 

ENFORCE FGM laws. EXTEND protection to boys too.

Foreskin feels REALLY good.

Agreed. Foreskin is a vital part of a humans body & sexual organ. Removing it before they can protest is an atrocity.

@TLCTugger Now, on your website you claim that 4/5 of the men in the world are intact and that the number of male babies being circumcised is decreasing. But now you're saying that a male is more likely to be mutilated than a female? You need to quit changing your story! I do not agree with male circumcision either, but you need to get educated on FGM and all that it implies.
