@dsbrck isn't it just? This was actually the very first song i ever heard by them, and the first record i bought by them, way back in the late mid eighties! I worship both of them (Rose & Douglas) and their voices together give me wood...!
You like it better. I know i do! This was actually the first song i ever heard by DIJ, and for a day or two i thought they were Rose McDowall's new band! Her shrill sadness shines while his deep harmony lifts my spirits.
Thanks for watching! I actually need to re-shoot the whole video, Douglas found it very boring so i've got some freakiness in the works....
Not sure wht you mean by that - the 10" single and the album version are almost identical, they're certainly the same tempo...
His live versions are quite different, and Down In June's version is sort of "punk", and there's a Jon Balance vocal mix, but my 10" and my album both sound alot like the CD...
There was a 10" version that had the flipside "Europa the gates of heaven". It was a MUCH slower, darker version than the one you generally hear. I would say the version I'm talking about is about half speed tempo. Similar in beat to "tainted love" by coil. If I ever find a copy -- I'll post it.
Is it the live version of the Cathedral of Tears EP? Europa the Gates of Hell is on that, along with 2 versions of the title song and a live version of Fog of the World.
Beautiful.

I prefer John Balance´s version but not to like this song in any of its versions is a serious crime.

I can't stop listening to this, nor can I decide whether I like this better than the stripped-down acoustic live version. <3 Di6.

@vodka667 You're thinking of the version from the album "Brown Book," this is the version from the album "To drown a Rose"
