  • That mavs team was really great. Tarpley is my all-time favorite player but he was, to put it softly, stupid. He could have been the best big man in the league, his performance in the '88 playoffs alone i believe showed exactly what he could do. The problem is, he dragged a whole franchise with him and it took them a lot of years to come back. What a waste!

  • "...just go to the locker, get a swhower, we're all gonna ride the same plane you know?" LOL!!

The greatest Lakers commentator IMO. Will always remember the one and only Chick Hearn. RIP You are greatly missed my friend. "This game is in the refrigerator... the door is closed, the lights are out, the eggs are cooling, the butter's getting hard and the jello's jiggling!!"

  • Brad Davis looks as if he were physically ill after the Kareem to Scott play @:57. It was, after all, sick.

  • Basically which ever team won this series wins tha championship, Dallas Starters:

Derek Harper, Ronaldo Blackman, Mark Aguire, Sam Perkins and James Donaldson

Bench:Roy Tarpley, Brad Davis and D Shremp and Dale Ellis

  • @michaelbrianhite what a damn team, dallas was then! lakers beat some awesome rockets, blazers, mavs, suns, jazz teams in the eighties.

  • Listen to Chick made the call. A great and a true original. R.I.P., Chick.

  • "walks 19 steps and they don't call it"

  • This Mavericks team is criminally underrated.

  • You can tell the announcer was biased towards the Mavericks.

  • who is No 52 of the lakers?

  • @janellsis Mike Smrek. I think he was only on the squad that season. He was a random 7 foot hack that you stick in during garbage time (sorry, Mike).

  • @nonplayerzealot4 MIKE SMREK!! wow .he is a...legend here in Greece, someone called him MIKE WRECK :-).he generally did good though...

one more: who is the blond play maker of dallas?+did they do well that season?

  • @janellsis Blond Mavs point guard was Brad Davis, who the Lakers originally drafted in 1978. In 1988, LA and Dallas went to the 7th game of the Conference Finals. Good team, but their defense was easy for LA to carve up. They seemed to have more highlight reel material against them than almost any other team. Still, LA wasn't a great road team that year and lost all 3 in Dallas in the playoff series. I uploaded recaps of 3 of those 88 playoff gms between the teams. Check my vids.

  • @janellsis see number 42 tarpley.good player in greece

  • The two teams met in the Western Conference Finals in June. 4-3 LA. Home team won every game. That was a very good Mavericks team. The Lakers were just better that year, and in '86 and '84. Dallas had won 55 games the year before and were poised to make their run but ran into a red hot Seattle SuperSonics team that knocked them out 3-1 in the first round. Much like Golden St. beat Dallas a few years ago. Not their best moments 20 years apart.

  • Scott @9:30! Sweet.

  • Kareem to scott WOW (CarlosLisboa, from lakersground)

  • over cbs

  • Thanks for the upload. This was a weekend game where the Mavericks had a big winning streak and were red hot, right?

I remember Dick Stockton saying, "Just name the time and place and the Lakers will take care of you."

They had already beaten Boston and Detroit on prime time. The repeat was in order.

  • yes it was, the mavs had won 11 in a row before losing to the lakers here. Infact their previous loss before this one was to boston on my mum's birthday and nonplayerzealot was right this is chick dubbedf

  • Did u see that sick pass Magic gave to Worthy in the beginnin of the game, damn!!! Classic Magic Johnson!

  • Chick did Laker games on CBS too?

  • Neg, it was the radio broadcast dubbed over CBS.

  • Oh ok, thats I thought. Just making sure though.

  • CBS would have never hired Chick; they were too pro-Celtics. Frank Glieber and Hubie Brown were they only two CBS announcers that gave the Lakers the respect they deserved

  • @Bigmikelakers

no they just put his voice
