I'm guessing She uses the large mic to hide that fact parts of the song are lip syncing/pre recorded. For example the chorus at 2:46 you can see the handheld mic isn't even at her mouth and she is singing. Not all of it is lip syncing but some of it is.

@HYUGAHINATA100 Actually I don't like gaga's music, but she has an excelent voic, the diference is that Gaga's songs don't have much high tones as Katy Perry's songs, and Katy's voice is so much powerful than Gaga's, so we can't ever compare them because their style is very diferent, although, I think if Gaga sing one of Katy's songs, she would do it great, the same for Katy. They're both great singers with a promising future,and I hope one day they sing together so we can answer our question ;)
