It makes sense too. There's no reason to hop on CSX unless you're going to Orlando or Tampa. They'd just be put into sidings every 20 minutes anyway since they don't have priority.
The only time they used Mission Spur/Lewis Terminal to interchange from CSX to FEC is when the train leaves Orlando after "winter break" headed south. Today's run was a good example of how fast Amtrak will be able to run on FEC when it happens.
I hope Amtrak will do that soon. I also hope they'll start a Surfliner type service on the line. Maybe a train every 2 or 3 hours. The biggest obstacle to any service though is not gonna be FEC allowing Amtrak to use the line, but rather getting this anti-public transit state to fund the construction of almost every stop on the line and the upgrade of the only existing station on the line, St. Augustine. That's a tough pill for our politicians to swallow.
Absolutely beautiful!

I thought this was supposed to return from Miami on CSX, not FEC. Nice chase though. New Smyrna to Jacksonville's a long drive.

FEC always handles the train Miami to Jax in January.
