It's a shame they all are such shallow shell depths. They'd have more stage presence if they toms could go deeper (like 8 or 10 inches). Gorgeous finish, though. That's a big improvement. Now if we could just add the depth and bronze-colored cymbals I'd be ready to upgrade. Amazing sounds.
Hello!! Could you please answer my question? So.. I would like to know how to connect my TD 20 with my laptop and Record. Do I need an additional device or cable? Will the sound be clean?
@riseofthefallen301 Because electronic drums are much more versatile. Instead of tweaking the heads and fiddling around with the padding to change the sound of your set you can just hit a button.
yes its a bit expensive, but if you think about your acoustic set (decent one), the shells plus hardware and cymbals you are in to about $1500 or $2000. now you want to record and have it sound decent, another $500 to $1000, so your looking at around $3000, then tuning them right, getting the mics set.. then you have the edrums being quiet when there are people home, or if you live in an apartment or something like that. and you plug them in, press a button, and you're recording!
@JaKKeyyyy Some people don't have the space for an acoustic set. Also, having a great electronic kit makes for easier recording/sampling. I love my acoustic kit, but apartment living isn't really the best for an acoustic kit. I'm hoping to maybe save up for this kit, because it is fucking badass.
i am a huge hater of edrums but even i admit this kit looks pretty good. i played a basic roland td20 once and that was bareable.... still though if you offered me this for free or an accoustic kit at half of the price range i would pick the accoustic kit every time...
I can watch this 100 times and still be jaw dropping... I want one... lol... imagine having no tuning issues... just setting up and playing... then changing to a completely different sounding kit... dude... to be endorsed by roland for these kits would be a dream...
I love the sound of the snare on 50's King - kit. Realistic....wow. impressive.. electrics are amazing. never a complete substitue for acoustics, but sometimes I wonder. especially when i still can't tune drums to save my life sometimes. its like being able to bring 50 kits to your gig, fully miked, tuned to perfection that sound mint. i thinks thats incredible. now someone please buy me one!
UK Drummers! The World V-Drum Championship has started, Submit a video of you playing drums on the Roland UK Facebook contest page and you could be entered into the finals to win a Roland TD-20KX kit worth £6000 and an all expenses paid trip to california!!!
yup its 7 grands, you could get 2 of the best Tama acoustic sets.......or you could get one roland, with 100 drumsets that sound almost exactly like acoustic drumsets
wouldn't touch this with a beginers sticks, £5,210.00 on ebay, jezz for that price i could have one hell of an acoustic set up and plenty of accessories to keep me going a very long time, Roland need to sort themselvs out. no electro kit will ever come close to playing the real deal. FACT!
@RokerBorut But your cymbals and heads will break, electric cymbals and heads almost never break. By that I mean that you can play heavy on a electric kit for over 5 years without breaking anything. If you're using cymbals that's as high quality sounding as the TD-20KX's for over 5 years, you've already spent over 7 grand (including the drum kit).
@RokerBorut and with 7k you have great percussion, asian drums, and different batches and sets of sounds / cymbals? I think this is a great thing, it sound amazing
@RokerBorut what's your point? both acoustic and ekits have their use. 7k isnt bad for what it is. Some people find it more flexible to have an ekit for studio use. No need to mic the whole kit, replace pieces, have dozens of microphones etc.
Ekit records midi notes that can trigger Superior Drummer 2 for example, which can sound amazing if used right. And you can always tweak your mix, change drums, fix timing, velocities etc. Versatility and flexibility. In the long run it pays for itself
@Raindarsus - this is true. But it's better to have one hell of a kit, than 20 plastic ones, dont you think? Btw. i like electronic drums for what they do, but 7 grand is WAY too much for a electronic kit. 3 or 4 grands should be maximum.
@unduswaffel - don't get me wrong - this electronic set is top of the line and it's great for what it is made for, but it can't beat the sound of real drumset made of best wood out there. And it's really expensive, 3 or 4 grands should be it's real price, not 7 or 8.
@MultiDanial1234 your best bet it probably go to ruppsdrums - com. They have 3 options of a ton of free items like a snare stand, hi hat stand and double bass pedal.
i know a guy who would love to play drums, but he cant afford it to even have lessons.... why does this stuff always have to be that expensive???? :(((
@Kairiri1 cos the rich wankers who own roland wanna make more money despite the fact they hav more than whole fuckin cities hav! christ, i feel 4 ur guy, id fuckin like this awsum kit but i dnt wana go thru armed robbery 2 friggin get it! screw roland, they shud giv out cheaper, it probably costs under 200 quid 2 make in a factory in mutherfuckin indonesia!! like this thn the roland guys can see this and think!!
@Himmelgren You have no idea how much fun this kit is to have in your room being able to play whenever you want. And in 19 times out of 20 it sounds way better than any unmiced drumset.
@antibulletdodger101 Sounds better? Nooo.. It's just that 19 times out of 20 drummers don't know how to tune their instruments. I understand it's fun to have a practice kit at home, and edrums are good for that, but I just don't get the size of this one. But I guess there's a market for these things too. I'd still stick with a quality brain + ultracompact kit for practice and a TUNED acoustic kit for performance. No need to waste money on inferior produce. :)
In the best case mics are only there to record the already good, natural sound of the drums / heads. They're not there to modify or enhance the sound and are not neccessary to make the kit sound good. This of course is slightly dependent on the genre of music and your own opinion on what a "good sound" is. Usually we still want drums to sound like drums, not digital reproductions. Or mega-compressed and super-EQ'd grime.
@Himmelgren ... and of course playing live requires mics to amp the sound, but this should also be done as naturally as possible.. not because you need to fix bad sounding instruments or eliminate ringing or whatever.
Check out the sound on this one.... will blow Yamaha and Roland out of competition within 2 years. The only e-kit selling in Europe at this point ( I got the last one available in Sweden until after the summer..)
@MusicDrumKid nahh i dont really. pointless unfunny joke to be honest. i dont have this but i soo want it.
i got it all worked out. im gonna work as a roland product specialist and get this kit free or any percentage off ;) my life will be aimed at this kit
I am waiting for my order, should be here tomorrow, by the way I paid $6497 that included PM30, Rock Star Throne, and DW 9000 Hi Hat Stand. and the Head set.
The Melodious setting interests me...is the configuration for the note cues similar to the mandala drum? How did the cymbal or his mounted toms know what pitch to pick?
This shit is so pricey. Anyone recommend a great, 'worthy of my money' electronic drum-kit to practice on, before shit throw my money on this baby? I've considered the TD4KX...But what are your suggestions?
@ownage369@ownage369 Hey buddy. I own a TD4KS and I think it is an awesome drum kit. In my opinion keep with mesh heads. They have a great feel. JUST like real kits. Very responsive. Mine cost 1300. 25 kits. With option to add on a cymbal or head. Great kit for its money worth.
This is an amazingly flexible and perfect sounding kit.
But ... pricewise ... OUCH !
On top of that, never forget that it requires an amplification, when you're not playing only for yourself.
ANYWAY !
TOP NOTCH !

@ownage369 @ownage369 Hey buddy. I own a TD4KS and I think it is an awesome drum kit. In my opinion keep with mesh heads. They have a great feel. JUST like real kits. Very responsive. Mine cost 1300. 25 kits. With option to add on a cymbal or head. Great kit for its money worth.

The only bad thing about this product is the price.
Here in Brazil, you could buy a full studio + acoustic drums, instead of buying one Roland TD-20KX
But, I still prefer the TD-20KX...
damn =[
