the prison system is just another type of organized crime with a badge. the living conditions are disgusting espeacially at chino a prisn that should have been condemmed already. all prisoners are is a paycheck to the prison guard union one ofthe strongest unions in the country mind you. do we really need to pay these guard 60,000 and up to sit on theyre rear all day and do nothing? wake up people of california its your tax dollars at waste here!!! take a stand for once and stop turing yourheads

In all fairness to the public and to the spirit of justice, the only solution here is to release all persons jailed for marijuanna personal use crimes ... and then change the damn laws.

I agree that jailing people for victimless crimes like selling pot is a problem. A bigger issue is the huge recidivism rates in American prisons. Prisons need to actually be rehabilitating prisoners instead of locking them up for the prescribed time.

It is this shift from a punitive to a constructive mentality that needs to happen.

Interesting that he only proposes building new prisons for violent sex-offenders. Capacity is capacity.
