I used to live near there. Get off at the last station before the trolley that takes you up the mountain. There is a trail you can take that takes you to the beginning of the temple complex. It is a nice little hike and you can see an old abandoned temple along the way. There is a cave in the back. Check it out.
We are going to visit Koyasan next Mar/Apr and cannot wait!
