skilo1983: I don't think our system is low power enough for that. Not to mention the motor is way to power hungry.
9nl: this class was some thing like a senior project. We got to pick what we wanted to do and our professor told us it would be a worthy project.
I have had lots of questions about price. If you are in school you can get most sensors for free. Sparkfun is a good site to check out for sensors and systems.
We also have a projektwebsite: h ttp://autorino.onpw.de/wordpress/ (I had to add soem space in the link because otherwise I cant post it) but I'm sorry its in german, because we are 2 who do the eprogramming and the mainboard- constructing and one who does the producing of the mainboard. We r between 15 and 17 years old and still going to school xD
great great great!!! Im working with a Friend also on a projekt like this, but for the first tests we decided to use a boat, because it cant crash xD. Just a Question? Is there a way to get the sourcecode for the on board chip, because we r still searching for some just to see, how other solve the problems. We r working in C++ for the on board and for the software for the pc I do with C# wpf .Net Framework 4.0 (newest) I read thet u r also working with C so Im really interested.
If you have an edu account you cam get most of the sensors for free from analog devices. Microchip will give you free samples of microcomtrollers. But I would say you could get all the part for about $150-$200. I have not looked at the sensors in a while, but you can probably buy a cheap IMU development board that already has all the sensors, controller, gps etc.
Im gonna use this in an airsoft game and link the camera to a computer, and maybe even mount a small AEG in it so it can shoot where the camera crosshairs are. Im pretty sure you can tell when someone shoots it so thats when you fly it out
you could make this super low budget. You will have some extra weight so you probably need a bigger battery and motor. The sensors that we used have dropped in price and there are several cheap complete sensor packages out there.
If only u could make it a little bit bigger so it can carry people, not BIG people, but smaller people, that would be so cool to be able to go up there yourself
@mangooseman95 hmm it would be cool.. but would u fancy going in the air in a little plane which u have no control over and u have to put all ur faith in the plane and controller chips. i dno about u but i wouldn't. lol.
If you are a beginner I would get a book like "Learning to Fly the PIC24". Microchip has tons of development boards and a great IDE and it is free. Next I would check the RCgroups forum in the UAV section. It is great for beginners and those that have some experience.
What would be great is if you put some radio beacons down temporarily so it could land its self within that area, if you had 4, you put 2 at one end and a few meters away the other 2 but inline with each other so it's making a rectangle, then set 2 on one side for the landing side and the other just to let it know it's inline, actully maybe just 2 would work, you should try that :D
@tayhoenes would it be possible to make the plane follow a moving gps beacon similar

Great Calculations at the end of the flight ........! with all recordings of the flight path and the height covered...excellent.
and which software you have used to make that flight path graph ....!

i wonder if you could use a rc park flyer and a camera as a uav... it would only cost about 250 or 300 $ instead of like 400 or 500

can you provide any tutorials or something that would help us to start, i mean for the coding part?
cosminx2003 2 years ago
Nope. With some more work with the code it could land with no inputs from the user.

is it able to land itself?
