brent musberger, irv cross, these guys were the best. they had the advantage of working in football's golden age, the 70's and 80's. they set the standard. i loved the nbc coverage of the afc package as well but for me the cbs crew was the best. pat summerall and john madden were the best game announcers. thanks for uploading.
I prefer these days over the clowns they have on the halftime shows now. Today it's nothing but 5-6 ex-players and coaches yuckin it up the whole time talking about themselves and their fuckin opinions while throwing plugs for the networks and their stupid shows.
@Lotmeister -- no kidding, FOX is the worst. And what's up with the stupid robot in pads that keeps popping up on the screen during a game? Very annoying.
Great halftime feature on the Vikings-Cowboys Hail Mary Playoff Game of '75....one note of interest, if Irv Cross stood on that site where Metropolitan Stadium once stood today in 2010, he would be inside the Mall of America
Musburger was the best NFL studio guy ever. Everyone on ESPN still does his "you are looking live at" and he still works there. I think I heard it on around the horn today.
Hard to believe that Musburger has spent more time at ABC than at CBS. It's even sadder that many folks, especially young people, know him as a career college football announcer.
@HamptonRoadsTVFan I was wondering the same thing. Maybe he was injured, or maybe played on Mon night and was available to come in for a guest appearance?
@JacuzziBooty Just looked it up. The Giants had a Monday Night game vs. Green Bay at the Meadowlands; which they went on to win 20-10 (too little, too late for Big Blue from a postseason standpoint).

@WildBill6942 Especially on Fox. Watching their show is like watching a bunch of frat guys who talk about football every so often.

If Brent Musberger had not been fired from CBS Sports, do you think he'd still be the host of The NFL Today?
FutureNewsAnchor 1 year ago
@FutureNewsAnchor he would have stayed on until then the NFL switched over the NFC contract over to fox after the 1993 season.

For the record, the Giants played Green Bay on Saturday afternoon not Monday night.
