u are one very beautiful dark woman id blame u fr not feelin the pain of average or even relative beautiful fr a dark womans pain they bleach fr themselves nt fr exceptance
MELANIN! Is why YOU EXIST! Why YOU CAN READ THIS! Why EMBRYOS GROW AND FORM Why YOU HEAR SOUNDS, SEE COLORS, TASTE FLAVORS Why YOU LOOK YOUNGER LONGER, BONES ARE STRONGER Why/how YOUR BRAIN COMMUNICATES THROUGHOUT YOUR ANATOMY Why YOU HAVE HIGHER SPIRITUAL TENDENCIES, INNATELY MORE PEACEFUL AND MOVED BY UNITY Why YOUR SKIN HEALS FASTER, YOU'RE MORE PRONE TO SELF-HEALING BY FAITH IN “WILLING” IT! And MUCH MORE! Yet “SKIN BLEACHERS” attacks it to appease “Bigoted Correctness”
Malcolm X referred to "the white race" as "a race of devils."2 He preached, "The Scripture says that God will separate his (black) sheep from the (white) goats.
Nar i think you reading to much into it. Im white - pale, i use fake tan, used to use sun beds etc to be darker. Black people, like to blech to make themselves whiter. Think about it, opposites attract. Nobody can both black and white. (unless ur mixed race i suppose haha), but people like to be other than what they are, they see beauty in thier opposites & try to look similar. People get bored, dye thier hair etc. Black men date white women and black women date whte men. Opposites attract.
Be yourself. Advertising companies are disgusting people who will do anything to make you think you need to look like whatever their product does. All women are beautiful, maybe not to me, but someone on this planet will think anyone is beautiful. Opinion is just that. If someone wants to tan or bleach their skin color, that's an issue with their own insecurities. Women of all colors are beautiful, and there is someone out there who will think so.
The only people that really benefits from skin bleaching are the companies that sell make up products. They make all their money on womens low self esteem and self hate.It is rare nowadays to find a women with all natural beauty.
i think its because of getting acceptance from the bros.. if our dads told their baby girls they were pretty, we wouldnt have this problem...ALSO, THE C/RAPPERS are pushing the envelope on the lightskin darkskin mess..also, many chocolate sisters i know are married to white and other non black men
I don't honestly think that anyone should bleach their skin. God created everyone the way that they are. I'm white and my best friend is mixed but she is more black than white. When I see her I see who she is not a color. I wish that society would stop being ignorant. Color doesn't matter. It's the soul inside.
So they can be happy with themselves... some ppl do it for their own reason or for other ppl's business. They have to first love themselves in order for someone else to love them. PT BLANK... that's their life.
It's just a part of bigger issue. The aim for different kind of industry and business is to make all people -whites, blacks, asians, whoever - unhappy and displeased about their facial etc. features. This is indeed big trap. Some people follow the agenda and make it even worse by adding some racial claims too and that's why the whole soap smells and tastes shit.
@yamaka5i you need to shut the fuck up! not all of us want bright skin bitch. i dont like black people ESPECIALLY BLACK MEN FOR THIS SHIT. they are to blame. the fuckers. Then these same assholes claim america is racist. REALLY? GET A FUCKING LIFE!
Dark skin is BEAUTIFUL! I'm a lighter brown shade black woman, and to be honest, I'd loved to be a sweet dark chocolate, but I'm settling for the shade that God gave me...I have no other choice!
There's no such thing as "race", it's scientifically proved and i do not understand why that word is still in use??? Ethnicity is the right term. Back to skinbleaching. It is bad for your health and sadly, we act from what our senses from this media run society brings us. Didn't Einstein say that imagination is more powerful than knowledge? Girls, Please do not fall into that trap, that goes for the men aswell, form all "races" Ugh, i hate that word...
I will never understand why beautiful dark skinned women say their insecurities stem from not being represented on tv, I mean come on I understand how persuasive the media can be but if ever there is a black woman on tv she's usually dark. Tyra Banks was the only light skinned black VS model, I think the truth is they want to be seen more in music videos.
I am a white man and I dated an African woman from Cameroon. She makes you look Caucasian how dark she was. LOL... She was BEAUTIFUL! (inside and out). Her black skin was amazing and I loved it.
i've seen so many people whose faces have been severely damaged because of long-term use of bleaching creams...totally ridiculous. we first have to change our mindsets before we can change our behaviour. when you think about it, it's the same with wigs and other products that we, as a brown people, have gotten so attached to and can't seem to live without simply because we think that we look better with it.
gurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrlllll, you're sooooooo correct. i tell my children that they are beauuuuuuuuutiful brown...not black...totally different colours.i have a cousin who is married to a white man and think she is better because of it. she has two children by him and definitely treat them as if they are better than her older children...so many people believe the hype that they are better and pretty if they bleach...i loooooooooooooove me for me and teach my children to do so! thanks for sharing
Tyra banks has no knowledge on these bleaching agents at all.. they don't actually bleach skin, they block melanin synthesis and you're skin turns lighter because they peel off
Ok so i've been watching all these videos like this one and all the chicks are hot! If black women are afraid of not being like... "fuckable". haha. sorry. But really. Just ask. :). Theres 2 simple things black women can do to look hot as hell in my eyes. 1. Don't trim your eyebrows (that goes for all women, not black) 2. that little dark curl at the outside of the eye (lashes)... MMM.. mmm mmm... perhaps growing up listening to NWA and hating depressive Grunge music had an effect on me :)
When I hear about black women trying to bleach their skin in order to look lighter, it truly makes me cry. As a 19 year old female who has been suffering from Vitiligo (also know as Leucoderma) since I was 14 years old. I would do ANYTHING to be a beautiful dark shade. The African American skin tone is sooo beautiful to me. What will it take to get my people to see it, embrace it and accept it? I have a condition where I cant help being a light shade while these people have a choice!
When I was a little girl, I wished that I were black because I always though how beautiful their skin was. I also came across a magazine once, specifically targeted at African Americans, and the author was stressing the "beautiful goddesses" that were black women. He said they were the most beautiful women in the world. Chinese girls are growing up worshiping Barbie, under the impression that "round eyes" are the most desirable. Let's just love ourselves... why is that so hard?
what people are failing to understand you can't get Brown you can try every bleaching soap in town but you cant get brown...you can use all type of bleaching products to get lighter or even white...but you can't get brown ...BROWN IS A BLESSING i realize this and white people try to get a darker color which is tan rather than look like a pizza with cheese only....IM WHITE AND I THINK BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL WHY CUZ YOU CANT GET BROWN??? GET it?
I think Black people still to this day feel inferior to other races, what is weird about this is the fact that they past this down to each generation. It stems from slavery, but I think they need to move on and forgive for what happened in the past and accept who they are now. Also Black women need to stop getting mad when they see a black man involved with an Indian. Asian, or White women, just be happy for him.
women who bleach their skin have extremely low self esteem. thats fuked up. black girls bleach their skin and white girls go to the tanning salon. Women are never happy.
Every skin contrast are beautiful.. i tell a lot of folks the purpose of dark skin is for sun ray(uv) reasons. unlike lighter complexion their skin gets damaged if in the sun too long which also increases the risk of skin cancer. the darker the better.. whites was destined to be in the cold land, true blacks are for hot land and mid shades are for warm... Bleaching is wrong! dark is sexy!
wow n i did watch the tyra show on that topic n yea those products can b very convincin n i have alot 2say on this topic n i truely am inspired 2think even more deeper into this subject. i think its great bein a dark skin women yourself(no offense) 2tak on such a strong topic knowin n seein its women wit ur skin color who under the influence of these products due 2the fact of how society views us women of color(all women of color not jus african n americans)
i must say i am impressed with your research and i kno u opened a lot of women eyes to being brainwashed on wanting to be lighter its never meant for us to all be one color thats why God split the human races up to be different and see if we can still all accept each other i love your skin color and i love mine too keep doing what u do ur beautiful
i would love to bleach my skin not because i want to be lighter i just want to bleach it cause of my bad acne!!!soooooo what bleaching cream or soap should i start usen??????
@spookd1213 bleaching your bad acne is going to make it worse and leave acne scars that won't go away, get some natural products from lush or proactiv to take away your acne then you can use bleaching creams but other then that, i recommend you don't or you will fuck up your skin for life.
Not Naive to bring this up... It has not gotten better .. it has gotten worse. the youth dont notice because they cannot remember tv from the 80s & 90s .. we had dark sisters on along with light sisters.. It has gone to ZERO dark women on tv. Stay beautiful & continue to express yourself. ;0)
@GoddessLuna9 yanno! i say to myself, damn im not that old but i can remember a time when it wasnt like this. has there ever been a period where society was so shallow, so unconfident, and idolize celebritiy this much. its crazy
@tommybrown187 ... Seriously I am beginning to feel like Im stuck in an episode of the Twilight Zone.... I wonder how much worse can it get before everyone or at least most wake up and demand a better existence.. ;0)
@ThomasAdrianna: I have seen that "Fair & White" shit behind a the counter or in a glass case at the urban beauty supply stores. But there is a new kind,I assume u haven't heard about it but maaaaaaaaaaaaan that shit work quick! I know bcuz I used it only on my foot lol.
then some people end up with a face like fanta ,body like coca-cola.there is this lady i know who was dark and got married to a dark man. she bleached herself out like crazy and when she had the baby,it was obviously dark skinned. she had the nerve to say the baby took after the dad.smh...and we have known her forever.lol
you know honestly i never heard of bleaching creams until i visited the middle east. a lot of Arab women (probably more than black american women) use bleaching creams. one of their famous brands is called "fair and lovely". and in the one of the commercials the woman goes for a job interview and she doesn't get it. then after she uses fair and lovely and becomes lighter she goes back and gets the job. this is the terrible messages the media is sending to women of color.
so Adri, i know i am late but i was tunning into your channel, and a related t.v show on TLC, was talking about a girl having an addiction to skin bleaching. You have to see it and do a video blog on it. Its called strange addiction I am addicted to skin bleaching. And I have to say it was a shame the we as black women are not embracing our skin.
Well of course "fading creams" are predominantly in "black" hair stores and "black" neighborhoods, because white people don't have the issue of hyper-pigmentation/dark marks on their skin. Typically, whites have nothing to bleach. Why would they need the fading creams? o_O
i agree with you 100% but its silly to pick on dark women bleaching their skin. I mean yeah its dumb but i am mixed and on my black side all the women want light skin and staight hair/soft hair and on my white side all the women want darker skin and kinkier textured hair. and there is a bunch of white women who cant wait to get outside n bake in the sun, rubbin on tannin oil n gettin lip injections all women no matter what color need to EXCEPT that they were "BORN THIS WAY"
black is beautiful. Just look at the range of skin tones we can produce. we're the only people on earth that can have skin as dark as wesley snipes and as light as (idk) lauren london lol. white people sit under heating lamps to get the bronze and brown skin we were born with.. i mean i attend an HBCU so i could ramble on about this forever lol. but yeah, if we dont love ourselves who will?
@cinnimonster08 you are so right about that... cause iam dark skin and the father of my children hes a dark haitian man... and our kids have a "light" or "red" skin complexioned lol....
What's really sad is that other races have no issue with our skin colors.. to them we are all black americans. This dilemma is a self inflicted. It's our own people who nurture and continue this nonsense. Who cares what shade you are.. If you don't love your self and what was given to you, how do you expect someone else to. It's self hate. If you have brown skin and are perfectly content with it (as you should be) then thumbs up this.
@BBgirlygirl88 Amen cant agree with you more look at rap music for instance lil wayne himself said in one of his songs "Beautiful black women,Bet that b**ch look better red'' the most negativity about dark skinned people come from our own kind its so sad
Why is it always dark skin women who are bleaching, the fact that the media always talking about dark this and dark that makes it seem that ALL DARK women have a issue with their complexion. Light skin people "bleach" too. And not everyone does uses it to be fairer, some use it just to even out hyperpigmentation.
GIRL YOU SCARED ME! LOL!! I thought you were usingthe bleaching creams because of the title! But i agree I love my dark skin and my kinky hair honey! I'm dying over here doing my transition! lol I want my curls back!
Having a dark chocolate skintone I have always been looked at in only 2 ways. 1 some dumb dumb saying "u r so pretty 2 b so black"; or 2 asking "don't u wish u were lighter like the rest of your family?". Being natural, dark and a thick chick would seem like a death notice to some but for me I AM JUST BLESSED AND SEXY! We as people of color come in so many shades, sizes and are so very talented. You know people always try to break down what they are afraid of. Love who God made you to be. LOVE U
its truly sad, where I live in NY primarily its only Jamaican women that bleach their skin. A while ago I was using Black Soap and someone on a hair forum told me that the black soap that I had had bleach in it. I went to the BSS and asked the lady if this was true, she told me yes and so I asked her is she could point me in the direction of one that doesn't because I wasn't interested in getting lighter. 2 women behind me were looking at bleaching lotion & they (in unison) sucked their teeth!
i think this topic is somethin that aint gonna get fixed, alot of self hatin girls gonna do it to attract a man and its sad, i hate the whole light skin vs dark skin thing, and in the end the bleached girls r still black and light girl are still black, they wont learn, and its sad cuz they gonna instill it n their daughters and n their sons to want a lighter female, lol i can make a book on this lol
That is crazy bcuz I LOVE purple men (is what my family calls my husband) I have never been attracted 2 light skinned guys bcuz they just seem queer 2 me in many ways, they don't look manly 2 me...I'm not a hater bcuz I'm light skinned & so is my entire family...& 2 do that 2 kids HORRIBLE, I have 2 kids my son is a high yellow & I wished he was darker which he will be when I get him outside playing some type of sport & my daughter she's dark skinned & I LOVE her skin...
skin bleaching is the result of a person's insecurities. they may be influenced by what they see in media, or as some people have mentioned, what they've been taught by their family. i see it every now and again where their face is one color, but their neck tells a different story. and after a while, doesn't it make your complexion blotchy?? i know you said in your vid that you didn't want to take it there, but it all boils down to that house/slave mentality that some ppl still possess..
I strongly disagree with what you were saying at 5:14 - 5:33 where you asked the question "Who's to blame?" I am aware of the fact that nobody but God has control over how we were born, but, blaming our creator for colorism isn't accurate, he doesn't program people to favor light skin over darker skin...White supremacy, on the other hand, is to rightfully blame for this problem, for they are the ones who brainwash people via media that "lighter is better."
in all honesty, its the versatility of african american skin tones that make us unique and beautiful. i saw this episode of tyra banks and it really broke my heart, but like you said, we cant blame these ladies for their mindset. years of conditioning can do this to anybody. plus i hold the philosophy of not fixing shit that aint broke. if there is nothing wrong with your skin leave it alone. and y would a bleaching cream be in a white neighborhood??? how much more white can a white person get?
Thanks for the insight. I love the different shades of color. No matter how the exterior is I believe it's what inside that over powers any outer appearance. We as people should learn to accept others no matter what color, shape, size, etc they are. We are all important and necessary.
Thanks for the insight. I love the different shades of color. No matter how the exterior is I believe it's what inside that over powers any outer appearance. We as people should learn to accept others no matter what color, shape, size, etc they are. We are all important and necessary.
I thought it was crazy, putting that stuff on their skin to change how it looks. Ok they should change the inside of themshelves, learn to love how you look. I'm dark and I love my skin tone. Growing up all my friends were lighskin, I got ingnored cause I was dark, Thank God for my Nana, teaching me self love.
im so glad you posted this video....its ashame that us darker skinnned sistas feel so inferior to the lighter skinnned sista that they feel bleaching will make them more acceptable...so sad....im a chocolate sista and im PROUD!!!
wow .. I'm 16 and brown skinned. I had no idea that these fading creams were even out there. And I totally agree with you about the whole [light skin on tv thing] .. growing up and even now when I turn on the television, the girls in the movies that the guy always chases, the models on the beauty product commercials, the video girls and even sometimes the lyrics of the song [favor the light skinned girl!] .. smh #Tragic
EVERY race beside white thinks lighter the better.asian indian black latin most think lighter is better whites think orange dark tan is better lol the world is weird
Honestly In the black community lighter is better. It's sad but alot of blacks just think you look prettier or a better looking guy if you are light skinned. I'm a chocolate sister and proud of it. I know others who bleach their skin and it breaks my heart. I think dark skin is beautiful and unique.
wow Thank you !, This video is soo true !,,. ima thinking person, i Like to think also & this video really has me thinking its amazing what society will have you doing to yourself. I'm Light Skinned ,Caramel Skinned w/e but my complexion changes also & i Always wondered am i The only one that change complexions like i Change alot. But umm Thank you for this Video i Will definitely subscribe to you... Keep doing ya thing = )
im so glad that you posted this up. like my family ranges from as light as it gets to as dark as gets and i never really noticed or had a problem w/ my complextion until i began to notice other people in society as i got older i released ppl actually thought of people being darker or lighter. shame its all about how people are raised ive always used fading cream because of dark spots from acne but people need to know that fading creams are put out for dark spots not for lightening skin
smh...and I thought all this time bleaching creams were used for blemishes. I have dark spots on my neck and chin from the acne I used to have. These creams should be prescribed ONLY, for real. And I'm light skin by the way and wish I was a lil darker because I have reddish undertones lol... but HEALTHY representations of black women are not gonna start until we get more black owned networks that are reminisent of the old school BET.
i use to have real bad acne and i used bleaching creams to have a more so even complextion .. i still use it at times to get of dark scars from my acne ... but bleaching your skin just to bleach it thats crazy .. lol ... i didn't see the episode but i'll be looking for it it seems like an interesting topic
...and establishing inner strength back in to the black community and remebering that we come from a line of Kings and Queens and treat ourselves as such regardless of skin color
I feel as black women we are represeneted in movies in tyler perry movies we see all shades of women, tv, and commercials I just thing it's within the black community that we can't let this light vs dark go and this goes back to slavery times. And I think the excuse of under representation in the media is an excuse to hold on to these stereotypes. And how many times are we going to let white people control what we think of ourselves it all boils down to breaking the cycle...
OMG! I can so relate ......Since i was 9 years old my mom bought her and me a set of bleaching creams and soap. I was told dark skin is ugly and i grew up feeling so ugly and im struggling now to accept myself. Right now my mom tells me i need to find me a white man so she can have beautiful grandbabies and im 19 years old!!!
ummm majority of us do not use the bleaching creme for that purpose...I love my complexion but I use bleaching creme to get rid of my acne scars/blemishes...that is what they mean when they say "fade brown spots" not fade your whole complexion...however some women do use that for that purpose...my opinion.
Wow! My lil sister is dark skinned & she doesn't want to have kids because of how she has been treated. I feel smooth.... even toned skin is beautiful. No matter the color! God doesn't make mistakes!
well i have used fading creams to fade acne marks but i never put it ALL over my face. I agree with you though, i think people who use it to lighten their complexion are persuaded by society and unhappy with themselves
Asian also have whitening ingredients in their products. I think fade cream should be used for people with uneven skin tone, or major marks/blemishes.
@hykham true but like i said that will take 10 parts to explain lol so just stick to the bleaching topic because in that case weave, wigs, nails, contacts, rappers, videos, music, even plastic surgery should have been in the video
@thomasadrianna so Adri, i know i am late but i was tunning into your channel, and a related t.v show on TLC, was talking about a girl having an addiction to skin bleaching. You have to see it and do a video blog on it. Its called strange addiction I am addicted to skin bleaching. And I have to say it was a shame the we as black women are not embracing our skin.
@hykham Hair perming isn't about trying to be white or be accepted by white people (in most cases) its just a matter of variety. Black women have the most versatile hair in the word and they should explore that to the extent where they feel comfortable. I used to perm. I have been natural for years. It doesn't make me more black. It just means I choose to keep my hair in its natural state.
@hykham making your hair more manageable with a relaxer has nothing to do with bleaching your skin dont know one female who say i wanna be white imma relax my hair it 2011 thats so old we wear different hairstyles to fit our personality or mood bleaching your skin is not because of personality or mood
@27GlamGurl Most bw bleach to get rid of blemishes or melasma. Assuming bw use lighteners to look whiter flatters lightskin women &make bw feel they have to run around w/a mustache or spots on their face or be accused of wanting to look white. There r those who want to transform like MJ but not most. Blemishes show up least on ebony or pale skin but r very visible on med brown tones. Natural hair can be managed too &if straightened to look less blk its no diff then bleaching to look less blk.
True, but in america nobody wants to be pale and have freckles either.
I see tanning creams and lotions everywhere and stuff that says it covers, or gets fid of freckles completely.
I'm not saying I can relate to racist treatment of black or hispanic women completely, but I can relate to feeling, you know, that my skin tone isn't pretty...
Being from Dominican Republic, there are a lot of my family members who use bleaching creams to get lighter skin. I never understood why, I love my skin color! But if you look around skin bleaching is every where. Even in Asia women use it to be super pale. Its even more sad when you see some of the bleaching gone bad.
IM SO GLAD U ACKNOWLEDGED THAT OUR PRESIDENT IS BIRACIAL! i dont have a problem with it either way, it just annoys me that people dont care to see that. thanks adri :)
i'm def going to do a video response to this i'm spanish and its A HUGE THING IN MY CULTURE, i'm so glad you brought this up, i have alot to say on this, we are taught from young that this is ok, and now being an adult i don't see it as being ok, but i'll def touch on this..thank you so much
@VaisaNacia YES IT REALLY IS ...its so crazy bcuz when you go to the carribean its like peoples faces are lighter than the rest of their bodies its crazy
Just look at lil kim, she is lookin more and more like MJ everyday (RIP). If she wasnt so insecure with herself and not walkin around trying to look more european with that blonde hair, blue eyes, nose job, and lighter skin etc she would realize how ugly she looks now when she was a beautiful strong black woman to begin with. She looked a thousand times better back in the day. We need to see more blacks in a positive way and as beautiful as we are.
@jnp2487 Lil Kim is crazy! she got mad that they cast Naturi to play her in Notorious...she wanted an asian girl to play her. wtf? YOU'RE BLACK!!! smh
@QueenbyNature3 Lol! Thats crazy, so I guess thats what she is trying to become. She need to sit down somewhere. I think a lot of black ppl have grown up thinking white/lighter skin is better and also straight hair. That is the message that is sent to us in so many ways. I agree with adri. Why they hate our skin/hair/physical features so much but turn around and get fake butts, lip injections, and tan their skin
Good video. I am glad you made a video about this issue because it is very serious although many people dont really know this issue exist. I saw the same episode on Tyra and honestly, before I saw the episode I didnt even know there was ever an issue about dark skin women bleaching their skin so thanks again for the video. This could help and educate a lot of people :)
I thought bleaching creams were to help remove acne scars n discolorations......i mean i never ran into someone who actually use them other then beauty....but i do realize some people have complexion complexes.....
i skin bleach but just my acne scars or like bags or whatever but i dont do it to be later just when i get a break out and get dark marks. so some people just do it to get rid of acne aka me
bleached dark skin, seriously, just looks....RIDICULOUS. im "light skinned" but i think its gorgeous when i see super dark, smooth skin on black ladies. like, RACE ASIDE, as long as your skin is clear and smooth, its BEAUTIFUL to me. no matter what color/shade/tone. even if your skin isnt "perfect", its NOT the most important part of a person. it shouldnt be.
@nikirylee I agree, My friend Bleached her skin and she was darker brown, Now shes a weird color NOT LIGHT skin but lighter than she was , us black people would call her caramelish but her skin has a weird color tang to it . It will never achieve a LIGHT skin NATURAL looking skintone dark sistas it will just look a lighter shade of brown..and thats the truth , if your not born lightskin , your not going to every look naturally lightskin your gonna mess up your skintone!! and come out flawed!
@rihannawillowlover exactly, its NOT natural looking...at all. but at the same time, im "lightskinned" so idk how dark people feel. like, on the tyra episode that one girl was crying and saying how you dont understand if you arent dark. so i cant really "attack" her for being THAT desperate to bleach herself, if im not in her shoes. BUT, at the same time, bleaching you kids is NEVER acceptable in my book.
@nikirylee I agree, My friend Bleached her skin and she was darker brown, Now shes a weird color NOT LIGHT skin but lighter than she was , us black people would call her caramelish but her skin has a weird color tang to it . GIRL BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL! all this media and our society today can seriously effect so much in the future if people don't stop being so ignorant... its serious stuff.
I thought most colored women used the fading cream to lighten dark spots. Not to change their skin color. For the women that want to totally change their color; I think they need some type of counseling. It is what it is accept your color and enjoy it. For those who can't I hope you get the help you need.
Malcolm X had a similar revelation about using caustic hair straighteners to get "good hair like whites."
I thought it was an interesting question when you asked if they might be gray in the winter. I am 1/8 Cherokee, & looked like it as a child, but I lost all my skin melanin from avoiding the sun for 30 years due to migraine headaches. I am so pale, the lightest MAC foundation is 6 shades darker than me. Now, if I accidentally get some sun, but catch it before I burn, I turn gray for a week.
i thought the fading creams were to remove dark spots to make your complexion more even. i have a cream called ambi and i use it if i have an acne scar or something. i didnt think they could lighten your entire face.
hi thomasadrianna u r so right am in canada & that is d most popular product @my beauty supply store 2 ,sum black women these days r crazy for that stuff 2day,1 friend of my told y dont u bleach am like y so u cant have nice smooth skin u havent see nothing yet its like a trend
Self hate is deep we have to start loving ourselves. I mean we are the only people in the world who come in all different shades from very light to very dark, we gotta embrace that
great video..........i cant really speak on this topic cuz im biracial an lite skinned but its sad to want to changed yourself an to be true with u i like dark skin better
This has been embedded into our heads from slave times because we associated fair skinned as right we must remember that the fair skinned slaves worked in the house an it's up to us to change our mentality because we believed that black is wrong an try to do everything to change it. I am very careful of what I buy when I get in the store because most all of the face products have a whitener in it.
ithink wat alot of ppl dont know is that there are African ppl who are very fareskinned [[esp in congo, ethiopia, etc]], i have no problem with that bc they are NATURALLY FARE, born that way. i myself am caramel, n like u said in the summer im darker than in the winter. ppl jus need to accept wat they are born as and the aging process of life[[bc i also know ppl who want to keep their fare complexion by bleaching their skin]]... concept of lighter is better is complete trash. #BEAUTY IS BEAUTY
my mom always told me not to have a baby by a darkskin man b/c she didn't want dark grandkids. All my life I grew up thinking that darkskin was ugly and until i grew a mind of my own. It took me a while to realize that ppl are beautiful no matter what color skin they have.[i'm brown skin by the way]
fading creams are in the african american community and TANNING salons are in the white community! people NEED TO BE PROUD OF WHO THEY ARE; IF THE LORD WANTED YOU A CERTAIN WAY THEN THATS HOW YOU'd BE! Whether it be BLACK OR WHITE JUST BE HAPPY WITH YOURSELF!
@MsBluejay20 Oh, Im referring to Egypt & Sudan where light skin is favored, bc a lot of them are light skinned ppl. Egyptians dont even like to be called African or Black, its a shame! & the women wear foundation for fair skinned white ppl! Its terrible!
i am light skinned and i use bleaching cream for darkspots on a daily basis, i like that it helps make my complexion clearer, but i dont use it to get lighter, iactually hate when it does make me brighter , but i must say i see beautiful when in all shapes and color and cant understand why anyone with a darker complexion wouldnt be happy i find that the darker women skin tend to be smooth and flawless, i sometime envy that about darker complected skin , be happy in the skin your ins
Indian women do this as well, check out the commericals for this product (Fair and Lovely) . I always raved about this girl's skin and she was dark, and she was shocked that I complemented her. Please check this commerical out.
it is sad if weman buy that all african american weman and darkingw skin is very beautiful thats why white checks go to the beach and get exposed to the sun all summer to get darker no ofense to any one but you know every one is beautiful just the way the are we need to love and be happy with what we have and confrtable in our own skin
very well spoken great vid thanks! like you i've only used prescribed fading cream for really bad scars that i've had and i can't imagine slathering it on my face. I kinda feel bad cuz they'll never be happy? cuz sure your skin is lighter, but your feature would remain quite african....
in high school junior year, this boy would call me burnt toast, crispy, etc. That's why I started bleaching my skin using the same stuff Asians use. Now, bout 3 weeks til my 21st bday, I still use the stuff. People still laugh at me cause I'm sooo dark. My mom's side of the fam, they are soo light skin, nice hair, light eyes, and then theirs me...I have to smile at night so people can see me lol I wish I had your skin tone.
also people use it when they have dark patches on there face after i had my son my face became darker on my forhead and my cheeks so i use skin bleaching just to keep it from getting any darker but people who use it just because i dont understand
i dont agree with full body skin bleaching but i do bleach my elbows and knees because they are really really dark and i want even skin tone but other than that im not tryin to look like michael jackson lol
I am from the caribbean and most of the women bleach their skin because of the same reason u listed and they are of the impression that are drawn the lighter colour women (which is not so). they bleach so hard that their veins starts showing and their skin becomes pink and sore, they cant walk in the sun, their face starts to strips. it is so bad that their skin appears as if it is melting away. and with all these problems they still fail to seize bleaching. OMG its a sight!!!

I don't honestly think that anyone should bleach their skin. God created everyone the way that they are. I'm white and my best friend is mixed but she is more black than white. When I see her I see who she is not a color. I wish that society would stop being ignorant. Color doesn't matter. It's the soul inside.

Girls, Please do not fall into that trap, that goes for the men aswell, form all "races" Ugh, i hate that word...

i've seen so many people whose faces have been severely damaged because of long-term use of bleaching creams...totally ridiculous. we first have to change our mindsets before we can change our behaviour. when you think about it, it's the same with wigs and other products that we, as a brown people, have gotten so attached to and can't seem to live without simply because we think that we look better with it.

gurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrlllll, you're sooooooo correct. i tell my children that they are beauuuuuuuuutiful brown...not black...totally different colours.i have a cousin who is married to a white man and think she is better because of it. she has two children by him and definitely treat them as if they are better than her older children...so many people believe the hype that they are better and pretty if they bleach...i loooooooooooooove me for me and teach my children to do so! thanks for sharing

Bleaching is wrong! dark is sexy!

you know honestly i never heard of bleaching creams until i visited the middle east. a lot of Arab women (probably more than black american women) use bleaching creams. one of their famous brands is called "fair and lovely". and in the one of the commercials the woman goes for a job interview and she doesn't get it. then after she uses fair and lovely and becomes lighter she goes back and gets the job. this is the terrible messages the media is sending to women of color.

Well of course "fading creams" are predominantly in "black" hair stores and "black" neighborhoods, because white people don't have the issue of hyper-pigmentation/dark marks on their skin. Typically, whites have nothing to bleach. Why would they need the fading creams? o_O

black is beautiful.

IggyRins 1 year ago 16
Why is it always dark skin women who are bleaching, the fact that the media always talking about dark this and dark that makes it seem that ALL DARK women have a issue with their complexion. Light skin people "bleach" too. And not everyone does uses it to be fairer, some use it just to even out hyperpigmentation.

Having a dark chocolate skintone I have always been looked at in only 2 ways. 1 some dumb dumb saying "u r so pretty 2 b so black"; or 2 asking "don't u wish u were lighter like the rest of your family?". its truly sad, where I live in NY primarily its only Jamaican women that bleach their skin.

LuiTayMello 1 year ago
skin bleaching is the result of a person's insecurities. they may be influenced by what they see in media, or as some people have mentioned, what they've been taught by their family. i see it every now and again where their face is one color, but their neck tells a different story. and after a while, doesn't it make your complexion blotchy?? i know you said in your vid that you didn't want to take it there, but it all boils down to that house/slave mentality that some ppl still possess..
nandi2112 1 year ago
I strongly disagree with what you were saying at 5:14 - 5:33 where you asked the question "Who's to blame?" I am aware of the fact that nobody but God has control over how we were born, but, blaming our creator for colorism isn't accurate, he doesn't program people to favor light skin over darker skin...White supremacy, on the other hand, is to rightfully blame for this problem, for they are the ones who brainwash people via media that "lighter is better."
LittleBittea 1 year ago 4
in all honesty, its the versatility of african american skin tones that make us unique and beautiful. i saw this episode of tyra banks and it really broke my heart, but like you said, we cant blame these ladies for their mindset. years of conditioning can do this to anybody. plus i hold the philosophy of not fixing shit that aint broke. if there is nothing wrong with your skin leave it alone. and y would a bleaching cream be in a white neighborhood??? how much more white can a white person get?

I feel as black women we are represeneted in movies in tyler perry movies we see all shades of women, tv, and commercials I just thing it's within the black community that we can't let this light vs dark go and this goes back to slavery times.

@hykham -I have kinky hair & I'm dark skin-and some times its just easier to deal w/ when you perm it. I've had permed hair -now I'm natural.
lolamac7 1 year ago

Natural hair can be managed too &if straightened to look less blk its no diff then bleaching to look less blk.
shemika341 8 months ago
True, but in america nobody wants to be pale and have freckles either.
I see tanning creams and lotions everywhere and stuff that says it covers, or gets fid of freckles completely.
I'm not saying I can relate to racist treatment of black or hispanic women completely, but I can relate to feeling, you know, that my skin tone isn't pretty...
iliekturtles93 1 year ago
i hear what you're saying...we should love our skin colour..etc...
BUT i wana be light. it's so hard going to school and constantly being negatively judged because i'm a few shades darker :(

We need to see more blacks in a positive way and as beautiful as we are.
jnp2487 1 year ago
@jnp2487 Lil Kim is crazy! she got mad that they cast Naturi to play her in Notorious...she wanted an asian girl to play her. wtf? YOU'RE BLACK!!! smh
QueenbyNature3 1 year ago

I thought bleaching creams were to help remove acne scars n discolorations......i mean i never ran into someone who actually use them other then beauty....but i do realize some people have complexion complexes.....
glenoaks1 1 year ago
i skin bleach but just my acne scars or like bags or whatever but i dont do it to be later just when i get a break out and get dark marks. so some people just do it to get rid of acne aka me

bleached dark skin, seriously, just looks....RIDICULOUS. im "light skinned" but i think its gorgeous when i see super dark, smooth skin on black ladies. like, RACE ASIDE, as long as your skin is clear and smooth, its BEAUTIFUL to me. no matter what color/shade/tone. even if your skin isnt "perfect", its NOT the most important part of a person. it shouldnt be.
nikirylee 1 year ago 65
@nikirylee I agree, My friend Bleached her skin and she was darker brown, Now shes a weird color NOT LIGHT skin but lighter than she was , us black people would call her caramelish but her skin has a weird color tang to it . It will never achieve a LIGHT skin NATURAL looking skintone dark sistas it will just look a lighter shade of brown..and thats the truth , if your not born lightskin , your not going to every look naturally lightskin your gonna mess up your skintone!! and come out flawed!
rihannawillowlover 1 year ago
@rihannawillowlover exactly, its NOT natural looking...at all. but at the same time, im "lightskinned" so idk how dark people feel. like, on the tyra episode that one girl was crying and saying how you dont understand if you arent dark. so i cant really "attack" her for being THAT desperate to bleach herself, if im not in her shoes. BUT, at the same time, bleaching you kids is NEVER acceptable in my book.

In East Africa women wear bleaching creams bc they favor light skin
OohLaLaHolly 1 year ago
@OohLaLaHolly Also, in some parts of Africa Light Skin is consdiered to be a bad thing. example, Albino Africans are killed especially the children.
MsBluejay20 1 year ago

Please check this commerical out.

very well spoken great vid thanks! like you i've only used prescribed fading cream for really bad scars that i've had and i can't imagine slathering it on my face.

My mom's side of the fam, they are soo light skin, nice hair, light eyes, and then theirs me...I have to smile at night so people can see me lol I wish I had your skin tone.
courtneyrulz08 1 year ago
also people use it when they have dark patches on there face after i had my son my face became darker on my forhead and my cheeks so i use skin bleaching just to keep it from getting any darker but people who use it just because i dont understand
