You need the characters with softer features, more simplistic details, more basic shapes for underlying structure, and characterized type heros. Without them, the variety and "design pacing" would suffer and it would look like much more bland. On that note, they really should have a middle ground girl, not super hot like Drow or Lina, but not fugly like Broodmother and Puck.

@luiz991854 What's being ripped off? Yes, there are similarities, but there are people who worked on DOTA who also worked on LoL. And why would anyone get upset about one game in the moba genre referencing another with a champion or item, it's only acknowledging the other game. Like Rylai's Crystal Scepter and Rylai, the Crystal Maiden.
I play LoL and I have tons of respect for DotA and completely realize that DotA came first, so these champs aren't copies of LoL or HoN. I also look forward to trying my hand at DotA 2
LoL and HoN are "OK" but all they have a new heroes that are cookie cutters. They try to make more and more new heroes that are OP or have balancing issues. They cant make exact copies. DotA2 is exactly like DotA, with a few tweaks in characters spells and damage numbers. I don't want a cheesy summoner spells or cookie cut heroes. I want Lothars Edge, BKB, Roshan, Techies, Pudge, etc... but I guess ill have to wait for the release at this point :(
Anyone miss the original earthshaker? Earthshaker was such a bad ass hero in dota. His model was fucking boss and whenever you align his skills, epicness just spews out everywhere. HoN's port of earthshaker (behemoth) is shit and disappointing. I was hoping the best for Dota 2's earthshaker but I'm just as disappointed... Why is earthshaker a fuzzy cute dog/cow hybrid? He needs to be upright with horns and a badass cowring. And where are the waves for his echo slam when there are units?! :(

Everybody please understand that LoL and HoN got it's look from DotA, not saying I hate those games, because I play LoL alot. DotA has a higher skill curve while LoL is easier to pick-up, DotA definitely is better in terms of technicality due to better knowledge that will give high reward, while LoL is more of simple DotA and ready to use champions.

u said earthshaker is oneof the best initiators in dota 2, i think ITS THE BEST, if u combine dagger with all his spells u can brake all pushes, otherwise u can make a rampage if u wait the good moment,(i just did a rampage the other nigth iwth him on dota 2 xD), u could say too that there is a nice item for him that its called refresher orb. dagger+agahims+echo slam+refresher orb= rampage :)

I would say this to ALL moba style player, dota is somehow, someway your MOM, HoN and LoL players... and dota is not the first moba game, it is Aeon Of The Strike, a very very old starcraft custom map. If you don't believe, Im gonna fissure your mom cause I came here for earth shaker.

Everybody please understand that LoL and HoN got it's look from DotA, not saying I hate those games, because I play LoL alot. DotA has a higher skill curve while LoL is easier to pick-up, DotA definitely is better in terms of technicality due to better knowledge that will give high reward, while LoL is more of simple DotA and ready to use champions.

So none of these games are copies of DotA
It's like you make a painting and then sell it to some guy.

Just read the DotA 2 wiki.
