  • yes yes yes, "lurkers are so cool". Whatever, the lurkers hafta burrow to attack, still, are now not cloaked when they burrow, and one hit marines. Overpowered? yes, but then again the entire Zerg race needs it.

    You just set your dependencies to Liberty (Campaign) and then you can get all the units that were used in the Campaign. Though Lurkers didn't apper ingame, Blizzard decided to leave them in the editor for custom maps. There is also a unique building called the Lurker Den, so they must have come pretty far in the production.

    I just figure that all the races are balanced and everyone should stop pointing fingers at who is imba. SC2 has AMAZING balance for a game, with such different races and play styles. I mean, SC2 is in no way as imba as Black Ops, where EVERYONE in MLG uses the FAMAS. That really says something about the game. I would like Lurkers back, but just make 'em like the ones in Brood War - they were balanced then.

  • @Dualwieldingroxas No, I think if they moved while burrowed, then it would be a little too op. Besides, look at how much damage they do to one marine, not to mention the fact that there would be other units such as zergllings that the marines have to fire at first.

  • @anklebreakers101 Tell me, in what way would that be different from DTs? Sure, they do AoE damage, but still, they're essentially the same. If they had to burrow they'd be the same as spine crawlers, except they got the ability to go off creep and need detection to be killed. And take in notice Lurkers are Lair tech, the same tier as DTs, plus they might deal a larger impact on a zergs economy by their cost. If it'd be an upgrade it's acceptable I guess, but we'll see how blizz makes them...

  • @Dualwieldingroxas Yeah, It's true what you said about the DT's. Now pretty much all you need to defend zerg's economy from DT's is have a spore crawler (or overseer) near the base and a lurker that's burrowed. And the lurkers in SC1 never burrowed, yet they were pretty powerful. But you're right, I guess we'll just see what blizzard does with them.

  • @anklebreakers101 Not to mention: If you play the custom game Nexus Wars you'll see that pretty much any MOVING unit does NOT get hit by the Lurker's attack, if you'd burrow lurkers somewhere in the middle of the map (how they would be as spine crawlers off creep i guess) and a small group of enemies like reapers or stalkers walks by, they won't even get hit unless the walk STRAIGHT over the Lurker, so I don't think moving would be OP.

  • @Dualwieldingroxas ya because you got like 6 apm.... a lurker in hands of any semi pro (platin up) would do sheer awesomeness of pain to any enemy army with moving lurkers...think before you post.. these guys deal 20 aoe damage per second... oh wait, how would you like moving siege tanks in siege mode?

Second, you have to know lurkers are only viable in mid-late game, where it needs a considerable amount of shots to kill anything (outside of mass marines) They're supposed to be like ghosts and DT's, which both can move, and tbh the plain addition of lurkers would change the game for the better imo, detection become a must, and mass marines will be officially useless at last. (farewell marinekingprime and most other terran players)

  • @Dualwieldingroxas oh yea, i forgot it is ofc absolutely game depth enhancing to add a unit which is so ridiculously op to another unit that it renders it completely useless... whereas zerg dont have enough counters to marines like banes. ghosts and dts do not have AOE, and lurkers can move.. but cant attack whilst moving... which is just fair because they fucking toast every small unit they encounter. lings, lots, rines... but hey, fortunately its not YOU who decides balance....!

  • @Ruscull I mean that these Lurkers can go into something like "siege mode". They burrow and fire AoW shots as siege tanks does sieged, Though they cannot attack while their not "sieged" (burrowed) but to balance this up they become invicible while they are "sieged".

    To me they look damn much like zerg siege tanks :D

  • Just so you all know, Lurkers are not in starcraft 2 campaign, and multiplayer. But lurkers are in the map editor, and this video was made in map editor, which I though was obvious just look at the mini map

    vs protoss they will be good maybe but terra has emp comsat raven and turrents so they are safe against all cloaked units.

    Suck? Lurkers would give zerg the edge they need against MMM. Right now, the only good counter to it is banelings, and marines can pretty much just stim and micro them all dead. I remember in SC1, lurkers were the best defense against incoming troops. Was so nice to have a base that you could feel safer in, instead of playing terran with siege tanks, or protoss with cannons.

  • in starcraft 2 how can u play a game using lurkers, i tried custom games in single player but its just the same as a league game, and in multiplayer join games there are way too many other games to lok through. I thought u could play a game vs the AI where u would have all the units available instead of just the league units like terrans goliath, wraith, and firebat. zerg units being the lurker, abomination, and guardian just to name a few anyone who knows plz help about the AI games all units

  • @DuoSpear orbital command scan but if positioned correctly lurkers really be the nightmare of mass marauder marine runs. But not sure about protoss the immortals and colossus easily deal with a lurker invasion I suppose.

  • 30 damage is too much is a cloaked collosus, I think this will be tier 3 and is not going to morph from the hidralisk

  • Dubwolf, yes they are in the game already. Not sure you know how to mod a game. Look in the game.dat files. You can unlock them already.

    Blizzard has already added all the new units for the expansion. There smart to make people pay for them. We are paying the expansion to unlock whats already in the game.

  • @imnotbad9 no they arent the ppl at blizzard found them underused and removed them but i found if they were able to move underground and slowly underground then it would even or zerg with other races because it be the zerg equivalent of a dt and if it forced to run itll unburrow for quicker movement speed or u could give it a normal hydra attack and u use the underground mode as seige mode since every other race has two seige units and 2 aa from ground we only got hydra
