  • I wish I had backing dancers everywhere I walked.

  • Now this is some cool shit

I'm not into hip hop or rap but old school rappers really do have tallent, now they all care about money and shit, i blame mtv

  • yup, probably my favorite rapper. I agree with you nikita and acrosleuth. Just good times!

  • Man this is dope!!! I remember seeing this when it first aired. The sexxy chick in the yellow danced on Soul Train.

  • ahh when rappers had fun and wernt alwaays having a serios face

  • a classic performance and he added stuff in between that girl in yellow hello

  • @kovy274hart Exactly. The guy's awesome.

  • Most new rappers don't even rap on beat, it's like they just ignore the rhythm sometimes.

  • 24 people can FUCK OFF HARD.

  • @YoungOldSchoolRapper Yeah i was 23 those were the days!!!

  • This was dancing... This was dancing... Today's "dancing" is such bullshit

  • @JaySeeAndWe Totally agree! Rappers don't even dance anymore.

  • Totally agree! rappers don't even dance anymore!

  • Glee?

  • 24 people didn't get greeted by a girl in yellow

  • 24 people got no moves to bust.

  • i'm glad i grow up in that time!

    i miss those days:(

  • I sick of the thug rap, its time to go back to house music when rappers and mc's had talent..

  • I only know this song because of dance central :D

  • Delicious Vinyl ownz u! It's not even his song anymore....;(

  • I remember loving this song when I was 3 or 4!

  • you have to love the "new jack" era (though this song is not new jack) where rappers had dancers that worked hard. now you only get back up guys that walk back and forth on stage. carrying a towel in your hand is not stage presence.

  • Now THAT's a hip-hop performance.

  • love the song, but this version is pathetic.

  • This guy is so real. No pretension. Miss this kind of honest hip hop.

  • Love it!

  • Flea's bass line makes this song. Without it, it falls flat. Just listen to it with the bass turned down all the way. It doesn't sound anywhere as good.

  • Best of the best. Sounds a little like PLaY. Ya kno da Bside is:

    "Got more rhymes..."

  • Right that's one of the reasons the popularity of hip hop is waning. It's just become too pretentious and plastic.

  • When hip hop was hip hop, def a golden era for our music

  • damn, the 80's.

  • I love Young MC!!! I am seeing him and Tiffany on New Year's Eve in Denver!!

  • @toastnjamco Whoa they're in Denver?!

  • @Deovindice2001 YEP!!!! On New Year's Eve no less...I am super excited

  • the missing bridge (verse)! classic priceless!

  • love this song. shit i'm gettin old...

  • Soo Clean soo mean!!

  • Ah....back in the days when rappers were actually interested in entertaining the audience.

  • @acrosleuth

they still are just the music sucks compared to this haha

  • @acrosleuth This sounds like a FreeStyle

  • entertainment at it's finest.

  • love it

  • this song rocks

  • this is of dj hero :o

  • the first time i heard this song was on the blind side.

  • This song is going to be on dance central.

  • busting a move is way cooler thank "cranking" anything solja boy comes out with

  • is dis really 1989 , fuck me , if it didnt give da year on it id have guessed 98 ,jesus , this is very good

  • Big Daddy Kane stopped getting airplay due to this cat dropping in 1989 as expressed on his 3rd album, (1990) Taste of Chocolate, on the song

    "Who Am I?"

I thought I made it, then my song faded

And none of the black stations ever have played it

I tried to blame it on mtv

And say, damn, they cold played me for young mc

But when you get down to it, I’m the real blame

    Because I wanted the fame

  • definitely a reference standard for future entertainers everywhere. MC rocks.

  • Old school rap was so sweet and likeable. It sure went a nasty direction...

  • @DanLetts97, ya mostly Dr. Dre's fault...lol

  • This song is just too awesome. I refuse to believe that there are 20 people in the world who don't like this.

  • u no a good band when they sound the same live as they do on the CD.....apart from this 1 coz its bad quality....LOL!

  • What an ENTERTAINER!!! I remember when this aired. Kid grooved so well. Thank you so much for posting this vid....deliciousvinyl =)

  • Yeah! That is Awesome!

  • Loves the altenate lyrics to this...wishs the release version had that extra verse in cause it is awesome and proves it that Young M.C. was the real deal. Amazing.

  • That extra verse was straight, shoulda been in original studio version

  • DAYYYMMMM He can bust a move!!!

  • soldya boy can't flow like this...Young MC had skills

  • Totally tubular to the max!

    xoxo

    The Clarences

  • I LOVE the extra verse in the middle, is this Arsenio Hall performance the only place to hear it? He didn't put it on any of his albums did he?

  • sad it's a little shitty quality... but it's still awesome :D

  • love it

  • Bust A Move Young MC

    awesome song

  • at first thing were clean now they talking bout lick down i can make it rain on u i can pop dhat pussy and all this non sense am single.

    and mess like dhat.

  • @shipwreck222 thanks for agreeing with me

  • Maestro

  • This guy is incredible!!!!!

  • those dancers are dopewhack.

  • who remembers Young doin the Taco Bell TV ads ???

"ello i'm Young Mc and i got a story to tell,i just got a free cup from Taco Bell"

i'm from the UK and went to America a lot in the late 80's early 90's and i really liked Young Mc and Taco Bell. We don't have Taco Bells over here......... Grrr!

  • Arsenio Hall Show was the show that showcased all the hottest rappers back in the days. It's too bad rap music isn't like this anymore :(

  • Will smith is rolling in his grave.

  • @DewkChronic Dude, this guy's will Smith's predecessor.

    and he's still alive.

  • wu tang clan got the same one

  • I was there! I will never forget the girl in the YELLOW!

  • GUD TIMES:)

  • One of the best hip hop songs ever written. I usually hate hip hop and rap but this tune had a solid melody, great bass line, and clever lyrics. Shame that this was his only hit song. He faded into obscurity about a year later.

  • Flea (of the Red Hot Chili Peppers) wrote the whole bass line for this song, and the never got credit for that!

That would be a good question to Young MC, 'cause the bass line is basically the whole song!

  • @icoulddieforyou9390 - it depends on the agreement Flea signed. If he worked as a general session musician, then he did what he was hired to do and got paid. Some session artists prefer to forgo the pay and instead ask for album credit and/or royalty money later.

  • @speedyhomey Actually, Flea said (back in the early 90's) that Young MC "paid" him with 200 bucks and a bag on pot :|

Anyway, I don't think Flea really cares about money today, he's been REALLY more successful than YMC, so fuck the credits!

  • @icoulddieforyou9390 at least he was in the video

  • Brilliant writer and performer!!!

  • How is he still breathing?

  • oh shit, im 21 , and i was born in 89, damm

  • Awesome, purely goddamn awesome.

  • Crunk.

  • Tight like knat booty ; )

  • High Class Rollin'.... awesome

  • That was AMAZING!

  • "this ain't no Girl Scout meeting"

    LOL!

  • I want it, i got it

    I bust on !! :- d

  • lets bust a move

  • The woman dressed in yellow! YES! :)

  • who is poin dexter guy he is talkin about

  • He was Deputy National Security Advisor and National Security Advisor for the Reagan administration. He was convicted in April 1990 of multiple felonies as a result of his actions in the Iran-Contra affair.

  • @hjaarmtes1977

    Hardxcore WIN

  • Poindexter is the same as a nerd or a geek. Just slang.

  • people should stop samplin shit just make you own stuff thats how i like it no being force fed that crap today 30 or 40 songs with the same sample and beat ...........................

  • No. People shouldn't stop sampling. What people should stop doing is sampling horribly. Wheras genres like breakcore and IDM in general thrive on creative sampling.

  • Comment removed

  • @poopr1221

Halfway agree (though beating the Amen Break to death is not creative anymore).

Better idea : find some friends who play in a band and record them with their permission (or pay'em for session work even) and use that for samples (if not music then sample neat things that haven't been used so far). This will not generate great fortune and fame (originality/brilliance rarely ever does I'm afraid) but it will bring respect from those in the know and it'll be great fun to make/perform.

  • @zyphoid666 I agree fully man. Though I'm an amen fanboy, I do love doing creative sampling. Sampling my washing machine, garage door, sister talking etc. and mangling it to the point of no return. I've really been wanting to reach out to local bands for sampling/session work etc lately. Maybe I'll try that. Thanks for the tip!

  • @poopr1221

    Anytime brother :)

My friend used to make these neat soundscapes by going around his apartment using a DAT recorder with the mic ran through a BOSS effects processor and they sounded great. Water dripping into a pot in his sink, his bird chirping etc... I love that kind of stuff.

  • great!

  • hip hop delicieux respect young mc

  • logve the song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • She is dressed in yellow and she says hello!!! Awesome girl haha. Classic music!!!

  • Best. Song. Ever.

  • Wtf? Why is everyone bein so depressin, hip hop is dead.. This is how it should be. This is a great song but there are still good hip hop beats out today, dre, snoop, jay z are all still releasin and producin great songs do cheer up lol

  • Freakin Awesome!

  • Glee ruined this song.

  • true, glee sucks

  • Glee dosn't suck .. its well good. :)

  • THIS is hiphop, not all the new rap kanye west songs that all sound alike -.-

  • @nikitaomorgan

Yeah, this is hip hop. No bling bling, no ghetto fuck, no bitches, no cars, just THE WORD. Guys like him had something which all the wannabe hip hop artists totally miss: Talent and a free mind, who doesn't feel the urge to appear "cool" or "hard", and that's what finally makes him cool.

  • @HispanicImpression true that my man and what's really sad is that he went on to wait tables in restarants in LA. his record deal took him for a ride, he was young and signed that shit.

  • @HispanicImpression no bitch es u sure ? lol

  • @HispanicImpression And it was fun. There's a reason ppl got to see this on a major network all the back in the early 90s. It wasn't filthy, people of all colors liked it, and it made you feel good. Around this same time and a little later, the most popular shows on network tv, not a rinky dink cable channel were The Cosby Show, Arsenio, A Different World, In Living Color, Fresh Prince. etc. All the dirty videos, gansta rap, etc., ruined that.

  • @HispanicImpression what are you on. if you only like this kind of rap then your a weak ass pussy! sorry, but thats how it is! young mc never gets mentioned as one of the best rappers, who influenced many others unlike rakim, grandmaster melle mel, 2pac, biggie, big l, big pun, jay-z, nas etc. who where/are all hardcore rappers! its not just about fun. its more about the struggle, the most important thing in hip-hop. thats how it was from the beginning.

  • @FeelRapp this. is just wrong.

  • @bankaininjav2 can you please tell me whats wrong? me tellin the truth or what?

  • @FeelRapp no man you being ignorant. rap isn't "about" anything. it's not about struggle or fun it's just a form of expression and expression is about expressing yourself.(go figure?!) doesn't matter what it's about and tbh id rather listen to hip hop songs about having fun than stupid rappers whining about living in the ghetto or bragging about all the sex theyre really not getting.

  • @bankaininjav2 ok, do what YOU gotta do. imma stay with that hardcore stuff! and of course wu-tang, 2pac, nas, mobb deep etc. are all stupid rappers because they rap about the ghetto, life and shit! punk, these are the best rappers ever, not no young mc, mc hammer or whatever, they get laughed at my man! do the math! you probably dont know one record by the wu.
