Of course they are still a Christian band. These bands inspired Stryper...they didn't worship them. They covered these songs, but in the end...there was "God".
UFO is a great band you don't hear about, Michael Schenker was w/them for awhile chk out UFO on Youtube, you'll be amazed... Doctor Doctor, Pushed to the Limit, The Writer, even a more mellow song that rocks - Love To Love (Remaster w/Lyrics) [720p HD] <-- the vid on this was killer. Many more, enjoy
Lighten up. This is the problem in the church today and one of the reasons my wife and I, both born again christians, have decided to no longer go to church. Too many Pharisees wasting their time keeping christians separate from the world by haughtily pointing their finger at those that choose to mingle with the world, just as Jesus did.
I agree with this guy, especially with one, Stryper treating the covers very well. I listened to Poisons Cover album, and they did many songs well, except with a rendition of the Cars just what i needed. Totally trashed the song to no end. Also his remarks about Stryper covering a Van Halen tune On Fire i agree with. Eddie Van Halen is one of the most stupendous guitar gods ever, and for Oz Fox to do his riffs well that says plenty about him there. I heard that one and it is truly great.
By the way, I agree very much that since Against the Law, the Covering is the best Stryper album up to date. It's just that we need to justify it musically. I wish you the best for the next review!
Respectfully, you could have done it better. Expressions like "right on the money" or "lots of bands could have ruin the song, but not Stryper" are all over instead of a true musical diagnosis. You could listen to the original artists and make a more solid contrast instead of "I haven't heard much of this band or the other". You started with an interesting comparison showing the Sweet LP mirroring Stryper's yellow and black stripes suggesting some influence, but then it went down.
great album. I only wish that it wasn't victim of loudness war.
