I remember that race as I watched it yesterday. it can clearly be seen that renault engine (the one on that car in that year. not comparing todays engines) had better acceleration. but ferrari aerodynamic package was better.

I can remember that as a ferrari fan I was shouting myself "damn ferrari should stop producing their own engines and buy from renault."

@lexbern Eran otros tiempos, y otros coches los de Ayrton Senna, Mansell etc. Ayrton probablemente no tendría adelantado a Alonso, porque la cuestión de aerodinámica de hoy en día hace que los adelantos sean mucho más difíciles. Además, Fernando fue 2 veces campeón mundial sobre Schumacher, y esto, además del hecho de que ese año ha sido superior a todos los otros pilotos, habendo perdido para Vettel por causa de la inferiodad de equipo y coche, muestra que él es mejor que Schumacher.

I've admired Alonso ever since his first season for Minardi, even though the team was basically awful he still got some good places all be it with no points. You could see how much class he had.

I see the Schumacher Alonso situation as, if Alonso started out at the same time a Schumacher and say, for example they were both driving for Benetton and Ferrari as team mates Schumacher would not have 7 titles.

Without Alonso peaking from 2004-2006 Schumacher would have 9 titles.
