  • I was here and i loved it.

  • Very cool and rare to see footage of 1991 Mike being all Fantomassy...

  • WAU GENIAL ESTE VIDEITO :D

  • I saw John Zorn 3 times... The first was a tribute too the giant of free jazz Don Cherry. Amazing concert(music, technic, freedom...). The second was dedicated to jewish music... 12 musicians, 3 different shows in the same evening... And the third was.... HARDCORE ZORN! It was not Naked City, but it was amazing!

I'm a big fan of John Zorn! He did everything! He played Free jazz, hard-rock, indian music, jewish music, be bop, hard bop, cool jazz.... EVERYTHING! He's excellent, definitly.

  • This is just noise. I'm sorry, you can call me closed-minded all you want but I have an actual CD collection spanning about 50 years of music from all sorts of different genres so I'm pretty sure I have an open mind about music, but this is just random sounds which do not flow together. You need some form of melody and harmony to have music and this doesn't do that.

  • @ThePinkFloyder1000 i totally agree. but yet it still amazes me....

  • @ThePinkFloyder1000

"You need some form of melody and harmony to have music and this doesn't do that."

This pretty much proves that no, you do not have a pretty open mind about music, there is so much more than that even in older music.

  • Anyone know where I can get the lyrics for this song?

  • Wow, the sounds of Hell. Fucking awful! That shit's just disgusting. Shameful. I can't believe these men even dared to show their faces again after this horrible shit. And then the idiots in the crowd cheered and clapped and just applauded it. Yeah right. Nah, that shit is wrong! It's just WRONG! Damn!

  • @sthnwatch Oh you poor close minded soul [: go listen to your pop music.

  • @MrSchlaven Only a "closed-minded soul" would think that this shit is worthy of applause. That's a fact. Ask Mike today.

  • @sthnwatch So you think that Mike wouldn't like an audience applauding his music? Where is the logic in that?

Also, why do you think this music is "shit"? Give me one valid reason. Could it be because they are not conforming to the mainstream publics opinion of how art should be? These guys are amazingly talented and have conceived music the way they envision it. They have more talent than any musician in the mainstream music scene today.

  • @sthnwatch Have you asked Mike recently, have you? Has he recanted the "awful" music he made in his past? If so, let's hope repents for the shit he did with that funk metal band he made so many idiotic fans with. And I don't mean Mr. Bungle. I'm pretty sure if you "asked Mike today" you'd find he's extremely proud his contributions to Naked City and myriad Zorn projects. Despite what you want to believe, he still champions and is heavily involved with avant-garde music.

  • @sthnwatch Have you ever heard of Fantomas? they play similar extreme music to Naked City. They are still around; and the band's music is written all by Mike. AND, Mike still plays shows with John Zorn and does this stuff; only better. Not long ago, he played a show with an experimental-grindcore band, and what did he do vocally? he screamed his ass off, and made bizarre vocal effects. Mike's only mainstream success was with FNM. Outside FNM, most of his music is bizarre, heavy, weird and THIS!

  • @sthnwatch

    2deep4u

  • not pushing musical boundaries, just rippin' off the audience

  • The song labeled "Sack of Shit" is actually "N.Y. Flat Top Box." Great video.

  • AMAZING!!!

  • It`s hilarious how at 1:13 MIke screams and all of a sudden his face is like "Lets continue".

  • i laughed so hard when sack of shit came up as a song title

  • My three favorite songwriters: Trent Reznor, Kurt Cobain, and Mike Patton

  • @GHReaper1996 ...All Patton is doing here is vocals. He didn't write jack shit.

  • @frididjurhuus Dude, he's the lead singer/songwriter for Faith No More <_<

  • @GHReaper1996 Then talk about his songwriting skills somewhere relevant. He didn't have anything to do with the writing of Naked City.

  • @frididjurhuus He wrote the lyrics...

  • music way ahead of its time reminds me of mathcore.

  • @xdeadwaterx Music like this has been written since at least the 1970s. It's easy to find if you look in the right places. Also this is much more complex than "mathcore".

  • Voldemort on drums? Nice Music btw, love it!

  • I think that Eye Yamatsuka is better than Mike!

  • @Merzbowxnoise Yeah, probably for naked city stuff... Also, Mike was SEVERELY influenced by Eye, if you check out early Boredoms stuff!

  • john zorn is the god and mike patton a fucking priest

  • The note Patton his at 2:28 is insane......

  • Patton didnt team up with Zorn in 1985 for The Big Gundown (as azzarogabbana stated) they recorded a few new tracks for the 15 year anniversarry remastered edition.

  • jjajajjaj O_____O si tocaran juntos seria la rjaa

  • first time hearing and witnessing this, sheer genuis

  • stephen fry on the bass there :p

  • You can't deny he's an amazing singer and vocalist

  • @lalalalatikt no doubt about that but, eye was doing this with zorn before he was...

  • @azzarogabbana ill reply to myself saying however mike patton teamed up with zorn in 1985 for a cover of one of the most beautiful songs ever by morricone...which sadly isnt on youtube

  • @azzarogabbana that early, really? is there an audio recording anywhere?

  • zorn wanted him there. zorn is telling him what to do. if you don't like it, blame john. oh, by the way, mike patton RULES

  • Listen to Pranzo Oltranzista. Mike Patton can stand on his own.

  • @MeepMeekly really? oh well...some people can't see clearly i guess

  • Um ... he's a vocalist. And a very skilled one at that. And the fact that people like Bjork and Melvins and members of Sepultura WANT to work with him surely tells you something?

By the way "side projects" means nothing with reference to him, as he hasn't really had one main project since FNM

  • You're fucking stupid, Mike Patton is incredibly talented.

  • Yeah, Buckethead fits right in!!!

  • notice hes shy stage act compared to now Zorn was a heavy influence on Patton

  • @artsyfairie08, i saw patton back in 1990 in philadelphia, i got to talk to him for like an hour, just him and I. I was 10 and he was probably one of the only adults at the time that treated me with respect. For that, i wore my hair like him lol. Every now and then i wonder if he remembers that conversation we had, i'll never forget it!

  • Bill Frisell looks like an old lady, and Freddy is sleepin'....

  • I was really high on acid when I was first introduced to this band... Didn't know what to think of it at first... all I could say was "craaaaazy!"

  • i'd love to see more of this.

  • I love how the music is calm then interrupted by deadly screams.... Or continuities as nothing happen and keeps it calm.

  • I didn't know Father Ted was the bassist for Naked City.

  • @icecreamscuseme i think that show is only in ireland lol

  • Holy shit he was even a good noisemaker then.

  • I love Patton and Zorn for dividing the listeners. They will always have the power to do that, and I LOVE IT

  • At first I was like"who´s that old lady standing next to Mike!!?", later I discovered it was Bill Frisell...

  • Isn't the second song NY flat top box or something like that. The homage to Elis you know?

  • This is good music....lose Patton. The screams arent needed. Theyre not even GOOD screams. The World is Yours Live, now there's Patton screaming at its best.

This is just like the rest of his side projects - interesting, but ultimately pointless. Except for Mr Bungle.

  • B-b-but... Mike Patton had nothing to do with this band when it started. He was just a replacement for Yakatama Eye. The screaming parts are crucial to Naked City compositions.

  • This is not a Mike Patton side-project, it is an ongoing and ground-breaking Zorn project. Mike Patton is just filling in for Eye, so that the compositions are intact, presented as they were on the cd; it is a bonus to have the screams included although admittedly they are nothing too special. Also Mr. Bungle isn't IS NOT a Patton side-project. It was his 1st band - wow even before FNM- and was full of incredibly talented composers and musicians.

  • Must've been an epic moment of win!

  • Patton non arrivi NEANCHE alla caviglia di Yamatsuka Eye...

cambia mestiere, o fa qualcos'altro un semplice epigono

  • "wow, didnt think anything could sound worse than nirvana , guess i was wrong ... "

     You are funny!!!

  • P.S. I'm 22, going on 23, which is how old Patton is here. I can't begin to imagine playing with Naked City this young. What a privilege. And what talent Mike and all of them have.

  • ZORN SCREAMS!!!! I love this!

I've been listening to these tracks for years (most notably the live "No Reason") and love seeing the actual thing live.

  • He Baldmother! sounds a bit like Wolfmother, know what i mean....

  • Mike patton the most overrated piece of shit ever. hes not even talented with all this omg im so different i make stupid anoying noises shit . Great musicians playing utter horse shit Wtf?

  • Mike Patton is not overrated. BUT....

If he only made these sounds? Then most definitely.

  • incomprensible

  • This video is funny Mike Patton must have been high or developmentally disabled to think this is really good music they are kings of retardness mmmmmmmmyea

  • Kings of awesomeness, mor lyk. I love this.

  • where can i buy their cds?
